The month of December meant a lot to the members of Alhambra Key Club; it marked the end of first semester, the start of winter vacation, and the beginning of a new cabinet! President Madison David, along with the Top 5 officers, successfully planned and hosted the club’s traditional Winter Installs. Following strict COVID regulations, Alhambra Key Club dined in a secluded area of Gen Korean BBQ House on December 21st, 2021, where members of all grades alike became acquainted with one another over a delicious meal. With topics ranging from the diverse amount of volunteer opportunities that Alhambra Key participated in to the tough transition to in-person learning, members had the opportunity to bond with one another over the past semester’s events. Following the delicious dinner, President David began announcing the Semester 2 Cabinet and awarded newly-named officers with a decorative sash to mark their positions. These members were voted in through a club election form that lasted from December 6th until December 10th. The special moment was captured through several pictures taken later that night.

Although members were busy studying for finals week, members remained very dedicated to volunteering at several community services throughout the month. On December 11th, 2021, Alhambra Key participated at the Spark of Love Food & Toy Giveaway held at Fire Station 71 in Alhambra. In lieu of the giving Christmas spirit, members served food, collected toys, and cleaned up afterwards to give thanks to the community and firefighters who work extremely hard to keep everyone safe. Members also had the chance to meet Alhambra Councilmembers and have an enlightening conversation about city planning. Additionally, Alhambra Key is also in the process of finalizing their apparel designs, which were submitted by members themselves. Top 5 officers are currently working on ordering the black windbreakers embellished with a beautiful design honoring the Key International’s message to all. President David and all members of the club are looking forward to another great semester with the community. Alhambra . Key members have done their best this month to show that caring is ……...indeed their way of life!

This month the members of Gabrielino’s key club took part in the Rose Float Decorating service put out by the division! Many of the volunteers came to get a hold of more service hours before the year came to an end. They deemed it a perfect opportunity to make more friends and celebrate the holiday season with other wonderful people! Upon arrival, the members were able to meet with their home club friends and see some familiar faces from other schools. They got a free shirt and entered the warehouse to get started on cutting petals and helping around the floats. Spending this lengthy time with good company and being surrounded by so many Gabrielino faces helped make the time worth it for these students volunteering. Happily contributing to the floats and seeing them in the Rose Float Parade where some Gabrielino alumni and the band teacher performed in gave the volunteers even more reason to feel proud of their hard work.“Working on the Rose Floats with my friends from Gabrielino and having the opportunity to simultaneously contribute to my community was such an amazing and fun experience, big thank you to Marcus and Katrina for orchestrating the event!” says freshman representative, Mark Chammas!

Before 2021 was over, Wilson Key Club had one more general meeting, as well as an end of the semester potluck to celebrate our club’s accomplishments and service. Our last service opportunity of the fall semester was decorating rose floats in Pasedena. There were 5, 8AM to 3:30PM, shifts available to the members. A total of 17 club members came to the shifts provided. We thank the members for participating and taking time off their day to help decorate floats for the Rose Parade.
