VICE PRESIDENT’S NOTE VICE PRESIDENT’S NOTE

Diana Torres JiSoo Park

Hey monsters, this is Diana and I will be serving you as your Vice President for this upcoming term!! This term I will be a senior and have been in Key Club since freshman year. I am extremely excited for this term and what it holds for our club. As this will be my final year in the key club I want this year to be the most fulfilling term I can make it. I would like to do everything in my power to help better this club by providing ideas on improving this club. From being secretary last year I have a few aspects that I want to aid specifically to leave a lasting impact on this club. I would like to leave a legacy in this club. As said by Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton a legacy is “planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.” So I want to plant seeds (ideas) into this club that will last even after I graduate. My goal is to reach diamond distinguished for a third year in a row, maintain member retention, increase dues paid members and have more attendees at our general meetings. Outside of Key Club I participate in colorguard and will be captain this following school year.

Hi Key-Clubbers! My name is Haylie and I’m an upcoming junior who will be serving as PGKC’s secretary for the 25-26 term! Some things about me are that I’ve been playing Minecraft since I was four years old, I’m always above the suggested word count in English, and I watch a lot of YouTube. I’m looking forward to region-wide events like Colorsplash and RTC and I hope to grow our club’s membership and potentially reach platinum on the Member Recognition Program! Another goal I have is to educate people on what Key Club is about and the different ways you can get involved in the club, division, and even district. I know that, through hard work and commitment, our club will be able to thrive under our 25-26 executive board, and I’m eager to make the most of this year!

My name is Daisy Tran and I’m so excited to serve as your 2025-2026 Treasurer!! I am an upcoming senior and I’m so thrilled to experience some amazing events alongside Key Club. I love going to the annual FRN and meeting new people at community service events. I have been a member of Key Club since my freshman year of High School and plan to put my all in my last year in this foundation. My aspiration for this year is to build Key Club into a strong club with active members and aspire to create more social activities that will promote more community service hours. Some fun facts about me is that I love working out so I can eat all the junk food I can whilst remaining somewhat fit. I am so thankful to participate as Key Club’s Treasurer for my senior year and give an amazing performance for my last year! Thank you Monsters!

ASIAN PACIFIC CULTURE FEST ASIAN PACIFIC CULTURE FEST

On Sunday, May 4th, many Division 7 South members and two Pleasant Grove Key Club members volunteered. The Asian Pacific Culture Fest had many vendors with small business and food trucks. The location was huge to fit the vendors in District 56. During this event, the local community joined to support small businesses and view different Asian cultures. The event offered scavenger hunts for the families and had educational booths to learn about other countries. As volunteers we had different tasks throughout the day depending on the shifts. I had the second shift where we helped finish setting up the tents for the booths and handed out flyers to families walking in. The volunteers also helped pick up trash and answered questions about locations and the schedule. The vendors were very nice, in the way they gave the volunteers free stickers for contributing our time in the event. The event had numerous performances from different clubs expressing different Asian cultures. The event ended with helping clean up the trash and offering assistance with the small businesses. I really enjoyed watching the performances and supporting the small businesses.

Past Events MAY DCM MAY DCM

On Sunday, May 18th, Division 7 South held the monthly DCM of May at Sheldon High School. Along with other clubs within the Division, seven Pleasant Grove Key Club members attended the event. The May DCM was a banquet to honor the service and dedication our division put into the year with awards. To begin the DCM the newly elected LTG, Angelina Vong, led the icebreaker to engage with each other. We were numbered off into groups where we had to draw on each other's backs and guess the prompt. I found this icebreaker difficult because it was hard to make out the image. Although it was hard, my group found it funny how we were all struggling. Many people brought food for a potluck style and they served pizza and dessert. After dinner the Division introduced guest performers which I was involved with. Me and two other Pleasant Grove Key Club members who are also involved in color guard performed our routine. We also saw performances from VSA and guitarists. Additionally the newly elected and current LTG gave out rewards to clubs. Pleasant Grove Key Club received many awards along with Diamond Distruguisted Club. I also received awards for bronze MRP and being involved in the Division 7 South media committee. Additionally, it was a bittersweet moment as the 24-25 LTG gave her final words as the LTG and celebrated our upcoming term.

CHALK IT UP + SAFETY FAIR CHALK IT UP + SAFETY FAIR

On Sunday, May 18th, two other volunteers from Pleasant Grove Key Club and I went to Edna Batey, one of the local elementary schools in the Elk Grove area, to help out with their Chalk it Up and Mental Health Awareness event. During this event, elementary school children were able to draw with chalk on the cement in the quad and participate in activities and booths that helped them to better understand their physical and mental health. At the beginning of the event, high school volunteers helped to set up the mental health station. In the middle of the event, volunteers were also offered snacks and sandwiches for their help at the event! At the mental health station, there were tables with handouts for mental health resources, gratitude jars, and breathing exercises. Additionally, as volunteers, we led breathing exercises for the elementary school students where we taught them breathing techniques in group sessions. This was a fun way to interact with the participants at the event and relax. One complication at this event was that the tent over the mental health station as well as the papers we set up started to blow away in the wind, and we had to hold the tent up until we found objects to weigh it down. Later, as the event approached its end, we helped to fold up towels, stack up papers, take down tents, and break down tables to assist in cleaning up the event. All in all, this was a great event where I was able to visit my old elementary school and give back to the community!
