PLEASANT GROVE FOOD FAIRE PLEASANT GROVE FOOD FAIRE

On Friday,February14th,Pleasant Grove High School clubs came together at lunch to fundraise by selling food items at the second club Food Faire of the year! For Key Club, we sold chicken katsu and rice for $7 and just chicken katsufor$5.Priortotheevent,we werenotifiedthatourschoolfood fair would be switching from a cash system to a ticket system, which meant clubs would not be handling cash directly. During the event, we had four members of our board, including me, working to serve food and collect tickets. In the end, there were many students who came over and purchased food from Key Club, and we ended up selling out of chicken katsu! The newly introduced ticket system made us take significantly more time at the end of the event taping up ticketsneatlytodifferentcounting sheets, but we ended up quickly counting up the tickets, cleaning up any mess, and putting away the tables and chairs we used. All in all, this was an awesome event thataddedtoourclubfundsand wasfuntoparticipatein!

EDNA BATEY VALENTINE’S DANCE EDNA BATEY VALENTINE’S DANCE

On February 15th,Iwasabletohelpour local elementary school, Edna Batey, with their Family Valentines Dance event. I was there to set up a guessing booth where children could guess how many candies were in each jar and the closest one got the jar of candy. When I arrived there at Edna Batey, I saw Valentine's decorations all over the cafeteria.Theyevenhada DJ comingto play the music. Even though I was volunteering, I was very excited about the event. One of the PTA greeted me and I was assigned to set up the food table section. I took off the lid and displayed the food as appealing as possible. Afterwards, the event started around 4PM and kids started to come in with their parents. They came to the guessing stations and wrote their name and wrote down the number of candies they were guessing. I saw some kids writing 200 and some kids writing 90 candies. Sometimes I had to give a little hintthatmaybetherewouldnotbe1000 candies in this jar. It was wholesome to volunteer with elementary school kids as they reminded me of my younger self in elementary school. When my shift ended,Ilefttheschoolandrealizedhow muchI enjoy volunteering inelementary schools, tellingmyselfthatIshouldcome andvolunteer againfornexttime.

REGION 16 GIFT OF GIVING REGION 16 GIFT OF GIVING

On Saturday, February 8th, Key Club members from throughout Region 16 gathered at Sacramento State University for the annual Circle K Gift of Giving! At the beginning of this event, we did multiple icebreakers. One of these was a game where we got in groups of three and tried to find as many things we had in common about ourselves. This was a very fun icebreaker that I really enjoyed and let the people at the event get to know each other! Later, we moved onto workshops where we cycled through creating dog toys, paper flowers, and paper cranes, items that were to be donated to local organizations! During this time, we were able to ask questions about college andCircleK,anditwasinteresting to hear about everyone’s experiences. At the end of the event, we were also given plushie prizes during a raffle! Overall, this event was a greateventto connect with the community!
