Afterwards, we moved on to makingpapercranes todonatein support of cancer patients/research. In preparation for this event, the club secretary and I had broughtorigamipaper for everybody at the meeting to use. This was a very funevent for me because I enjoy folding origami and, althoughtherewasa steep learning curve when first learning how to fold them, many members soon got the hang of making the paper cranes. In the end, twenty three members had participated in this service project which helped us get one step closertoreachingourclubservice hourgoal!

On Friday, December 6th, the Pleasant Grove Red Cross Club hosted their annual winter movie night in collaboration with Pleasant Grove Key Club! Members from both clubs showed up to set up, cleanup, and attend the event. We also arranged the tables for the potluckfood, cardmakingsupplies, and seating arrangements. Once morepeoplestartedtoshowupfor the event, we kicked off the movie we were watching, Frozen! During this event, attendees were able to make cards to donate to senior homes and eat some tasty food from the potluck while enjoying a greatmoviewithfriends.Personally, I think this was a fun way to hang out and participate in service! At theendoftheevent, wetoredown all the decorations, put away the tables, and cleaned up any trash from the food/card making. All in all, this was a very entertaining event that had great attendance and was enjoyed by myself and manyothers!

This included decorations, toys, and other such items that were crucial to the event. Once we got inside the building, westartedloading all the items in and setting everything up. Much of the time after that, we were unloading various boxes from the trucks outside that contained the items for the event. Afterwards, I, along with others, moved to a different job where we would help facilitate the distribution of items to the event’s attendees, such as holiday decorations and temporary tattoos. It was fun to see the people this event was specifically impactful for after our hard worksettinguptheevent!Whentheevent startedto come to a close, wehadafinal job to do: load the trucks back up with itemsforthenextevent.Beforedoingthis, however, volunteers were encouraged to take many of the leftover items forfreeas they didn’t need them anymore and would otherwise need to throw them out.
