On Saturday, November 16th, many Key Club members throughout different clubs in the division went to the Autumn Food and Craft Festival to help out at theevent!Therewere twodifferent shifts, one earlier in the morning and one a little later, and I had arrived in the later shift. When I arrived,Ididn’thavemuchtodoin the beginning, but the kind volunteer coordinator gave me a fewthingstodolike passoutflyers and pickuptrash. I also had a lot oftimeto lookaround atallofthe booths/vendors and even bought some really good shaved ice from a shavedicetruck!Afterthis,Itook a break to eat the shaved ice I got, and then was asked, along withafewotherpeople,to create an instagram post or reel promoting our favoritevendor. My group decided to go to the shaved ice truck and promote them because they were really nice andhad goodfood! Afterthis, Ihadtoleavetheeventearly, but it was funtoexperience as well as helpoutatthisfunevent!
On Sunday, November 17th 2024, I went to the November DCM for Key Club at Shasta Park. It was very cold thatdayandthereweremanypeople lying on the park’s grass talking amongst themselves. At first, I was nervoustobeapartoftheevent, but our amazingDLT made it very easy to feel included. The groups games of bingo where we had to interact and take pictures with different clubs from otherschoolshelpedcreateasenseof connection between each club. The community service activities of decorating cookies, making cards, and coloring pages was very fun and entertaining! At the end of the DCM session, we had one volunteer from each school enter into a pie eating contest! I asked my club president, Jisoo, if I could volunteer. She allowed meto, and Iwonsecondplace!Itwas my firsttime eating pumpkin pie, and regrettably, I couldn’t taste much as I was focused on winning. There was also a bake sale happening at the DCM to raise profits for PTP with delicious baked goods. Overall, it’s clear to see going to DCMs is not just forinformationalpurposes, but to also build a stronger connection within your Key Club community with fun workshopsandactivities. LC Moors
On Thursday, November 21st, Pleasant Grove Key Club, Sheldon Key Club, and Rancho Murieta Key Club officers visitedour localKiwanismeeting todo the annual Key Club takeover! At the start of the event, we were able to enjoy some food that was provided before we started our presentations. We then got into the opening ceremony where Rancho Murieta Key Club led the Pledge of Allegiance, inspirational moment—which included quotes—,andPatrioticSong—inwhich weallsangalongto“This Land is Your Land”. Then, us officers introduced ourselves to attendees with our name andpositioninourclub.Followingthis, we collected happy/sad bucks from the Kiwanians, which is when Kiwanians donate to Key Clubs while expressing something they are happy or sad about. We then went over Kiwanis reports including See’s candy sales, the Crab Feed, Sweats for Vets, andToysforTots.Thiswasa great way to catch up with the Kiwanians and find out about really interesting projects theyworkonannually.Toend off the event, all the clubs had their officers present their club updates, service projects, and goals for the year. As the club editor, I presented about the way we communicate with our members! All in all, this was a fun experience and a great way to learn more about Kiwanis as well as give themupdates!
