The Hungarian Theater in Timișoara has a strong educational component, as a public institution and representative of a minority.
This year, the season includes at least three new puppet shows for the little ones: "Little Red Riding Hood", "Light of Christmas" (Advent show) and "The Swan Fairy", which already premiered in September 2024. Because inclusion and multiculturalism are concepts that children need to learn and respect, it is important that they understand diversity and accept differences from an early age. The children’s shows of the Hungarian Theater are designed to teach valuable lessons about respect and tolerance. Children's theater is a tool that cannot be underestimated, as the little ones are encouraged to shape their own visions of the world and life and to express their opinions and emotions. Through knowledge and art, a more tolerant and diversity-aware generation will be born.

The Swan Fairy
The show tells the story of Iancu, a young man who, like many others, wants luxury, an easy life and no work. So he leaves his parents' home and gives up a career in shoemaking that was intended for him, goes out into the world and receives more than he dreamed of: unimaginable luxury and a fairy as a wife. But when he is alone, he realizes that no treasure has the value of love.
Determined to find his lost love, Iancu will face any obstacle. The story is about discovering true values, about love that is above material wealth and about the struggle to win what is really important.
Written and directed by Dió Zoltán based on the story collected by Arany László.

Mamma Badu’s Children (nonverbal performance, 50’)
Once upon a time there was a tiny village in the middle of Africa. There lived a mother with her three sons. They were very poor. They had something though: the mother's beautiful hair, black as a raven's feather, so long that it covered the whole village from one end to the other. This hair saved them from all misfortunes: when they were hungry, they used it as a snare, when they were bored, they jumped the rope with it, when it rained, they simply took shelter under it. But, one fine day, the boys grew up and went out into the world to try their luck... Will their mother's hair still protect them?
Our show talks about unconditional love and seeks the answer to the question: how to love well? Mama Badu must learn not to suffocate her children with her love, just as the three boys must learn that leaving home does not mean forgetting—and that there are times when one must dare to ask for their mother's help again.

Who doesn't know the story of that beautiful, pure-hearted girl who picks lentils and has a golden shoe? The girl loved by all and helped by all the creatures of the earth to finally become the prince's wife? With the help of puppets, the well-known twists and turns appear on stage with humor and in a playful form, where the good deserve a worthy reward and the bad are punished.
The famous story, known to everyone, was staged by the director Sramó Gábor, in co-production with the "Kabóca" Puppet Theater from Veszprém.

Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale has been adapted for the stage by Lajos Parti Nagy, which examines the Emperor of Hatzukistan and the court that surrounds him. A show with marionettes and pantomime, shadow play performed by the young puppeteers' troupe of the Hungarian Theatre.
