EARLYYEARS FOUNDATIONSTAGE
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Cranleigh
Abu Dhabi provides a nurturing and engaging environment
where children develop a love for learning. Our bespoke
curriculum is based on the EYFS framework of England, fostering curiosity, independence, and confidence through
play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Specialist
teachers for Arabic, Music, PE, and swimming enrich the learning journey from FS1 onwards.
The curriculum focuses on seven key areas:
Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social, and Emotional Growth, alongside
Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. Learning through play is at the heart of our approach, encouraging active engagement, resilience, and creativity. With a well-
structured curriculum and purpose-built facilities, we ensure that each child gains the skills and confidence
needed for their next stage of learning.
KEYSTAGE1
Key Stage 1 builds on the strong foundation of the Early
Years, nurturing independence, creativity, and a love for
learning. Using the National Curriculum of England as a
framework, our approach ensures that every child is
supported and challenged as they progress.
Core subjects include literacy, mathematics, and science, with structured phonics, storytelling, and creative writing
developing language skills. Mathematics lessons focus on problem-solving, fluency, and reasoning, while science
encourages hands-on investigations and discovery-based
learning. Lessons are interactive and engaging, fostering
responsibility for learning. Beyond academics, children develop key skills such as collaboration, resilience, and curiosity, ensuring a smooth transition to Key Stage 2.
KEYSTAGE2
At Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, our Key Stage 2 curriculum is designed to support every child’s unique strengths, learning style, and interests. With a personalised approach, our dedicated teachers tailor experiences that spark curiosity, challenge thinking, and nurture a love of learning.
Alongside academic development, we place strong emphasis on character education, building resilience, empathy, integrity, and leadership. Whether through classroom projects or school events, pupils are encouraged to collaborate, take initiative, and grow in confidence.
Our balanced curriculum combines rigor in core subjects with rich opportunities in the arts, sport, languages, and technology.
This holistic approach ensures children develop both academically and personally.
Key Stage 2 at Cranleigh is a time of discovery and growth in a warm, supportive environment. By the time pupils move on to
Key Stage 3, they are well prepared, not just in knowledge, but as confident, compassionate, and capable learners.
KEYSTAGE3
Key Stage 3 at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi provides a well-rounded education, fostering curiosity, resilience, and independence. Students study a broad range of subjects, ensuring a strong
foundation for future learning while developing key skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
A diverse curriculum includes English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages, the arts, and physical education, offering students opportunities to explore their interests.
Lessons are designed to be interactive and inquiry-based,
building confidence and engagement. The Year 9 curriculum
is structured to help students make informed choices for their
GCSE pathways, ensuring they are well-prepared for Key
Stage 4 and beyond.
KEYSTAGE4
Key Stage 4 is a pivotal stage where students begin to tailor their education through GCSE and IGCSE courses. Students typically take 8-9 subjects, including compulsory courses in English, mathematics, and science, alongside a selection of optional subjects aligned with their interests and career aspirations.
Our curriculum emphasizes quality over quantity, ensuring students receive a balanced, engaging, and rigorous education. The Core Curriculum, unique to Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, enhances learning through modules in philosophy, careers, and independent research projects. Students also meet UAE requirements in Arabic and Islamic Studies where applicable. With a strong academic foundation and a focus on future pathways, Key Stage 4 prepares students for success in post-16 education.
KEYSTAGE5
Cranleigh Sixth Form provides a dynamic and personalised education for students aged 16-18, preparing them for higher education and future careers. We offer a range of pathways,
including A-Levels and BTECs, allowing students to tailor their studies to their strengths and ambitions.
A-Levels provide an academically rigorous route, while BTECs offer a more applied, project-based approach. Both
are internationally recognised and equip students with essential skills for university and the workplace. Beyond academics, our Core Curriculum develops leadership, global awareness, and personal growth through the Extended
Project Qualification (EPQ) and specialised modules. With an emphasis on independent thinking and lifelong learning, Cranleigh Sixth Form empowers students to take ownership of their futures.

ENGAGEMENT
At Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, the spirit of community is at the heart of our school. Our Cranleigh Community Committee (CCC) plays a vital role in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all families. The CCC organises a range of events that bring our community together, from cultural celebrations to social gatherings, strengthening the bonds between parents, students, and staff. They also welcome new families through initiatives such as a buddy system, ensuring that every family feels supported and connected from the moment they join. Parent representative Group (PRG), assigned to each year group, serve as a bridge between families and the school. They support communication, provide valuable feedback, and help build a sense of unity within their year groups. Their efforts ensure that parents remain informed and engaged in school life.
In addition, we also have our Strategic Partnership Group (SPG, dedicated to building meaningful relationships with key stakeholders. The SPG collaborates with corporate partners, educational institutions, and community organisations to create opportunities that enhance the educational experiences of our students. By leveraging these partnerships, the SPG supports our mission to deliver a holistic and enriching education.
Together, we embody the values of collaboration, connection, and innovation, ensuring that our school remains a vibrant and supportive community for all.
Governance
CRANLEIGHINTERNATIONAL
Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is guided by a dedicated Board of Governors, bringing together representatives from two key stakeholders: Aldar Properties and Cranleigh UK. This
partnership ensures that the school remains true to its vision while continually evolving to meet the highest educational standards.
The Principal and Head of Finance report directly to the Board, with senior staff members contributing to discussions as needed.
The Board operates through two key sub-committees—the Education Sub-Committee and the Development Committee— which meet regularly to oversee academic excellence and future growth. Cranleigh UK has been involved in Cranleigh Abu Dhabi since its inception and plays an active role in shaping the school’s direction. Through ongoing collaboration, regular visits, and shared expertise, we ensure that our students benefit from the best of both worlds—a dynamic, forward-thinking education rooted in the traditions and values of Cranleigh.
