Educating the whole child is central to our ethos at Cranleigh We give equal importance to the Academic, Pastoral and Co-Curricular aspects of school life This holistic approach to education is not just an add-on; it is our strong belief that learning also takes place beyond the confines of the classroom. The aim of the co-curricular activity (CCA) programme is to provide additional activities to cater for a wide range of interests In turn, the programme will create healthy, confident, creative, socially adept and culturally aware individuals

CCA sign-ups are completed on SOCS Please ensure you are familiar with this system and more information can be found on the here We use a preferential system which enables you to add your second and third choices The ‘selection’ process for all CCAs is not first come, first served Therefore, when you select an activity you are not automatically registered. Allocations are completed by the CoCurricular team. If your child has already been registered for an invite only CCA and you do not want them to attend, please email cca@cranleigh.ae

Year 9 and 10 - To enable pupils to develop a good range of skills through a variety of activities we encourage pupils to participate in 3 CCAs per week

Students will learn how to operate a DSLR in Manual Mode, by learning the 3 elements of the exposure triangle (SS, ISO & Aperture), its function, and how to best expose a photograph Students will explore different types of photography (Motion Photography, Product Photography, Portrait Photography, Stopmotion) while learning how to balance the exposure triangle.

Short Film Making

They then explore the technical aspects of filmmaking, including camera operation, lighting techniques, sound design, and editing Through hands-on exercises and practical assignments, participants gain a deep understanding of shot composition, pacing, and the use of visual and auditory elements to enhance storytelling. The course also covers pre-production and post-production processes, teaching students how to plan and organize their film projects effectively. By the end of the course, students have not only acquired the skills required to create impactful short films but also developed their own unique voices as storytellers in the dynamic world of cinema
