Meal voucher program wins NSW excellence award A local meal voucher initiative has received state-wide recognition, winning a community development award at a Sydney event.

Warrumbungle Community Care has been awarded a top place in this year’s NSW L ocal Government Excellence Awards for their innovative meal voucher program, ‘Rise and Shine it’s Time to Dine Meal Vouchers’.

T he meal voucher program won the category ‘Community Development – Popu lation under 150,0 0 0 ’ at an awards night in Sydney on 1 June.

Music Week hits all the right notes Music Week has strengthened community spirit through collaboration and expression in arts and culture.

by GEORGIA SPENCE Last week, Signal Creative facilitated music and movement workshops in Coonabarabran for the local community.

SPACE Gallery became a revolving door for groups and individuals to expand their vocal cords and rhythm.

The program engaged with community groups including Breakthru, Cooinda, local schools and daycare centres.

Founders of Signal Creative, Emma Hoy and Caroline Wallace provided free, private singing lessons throughout the week, while group workshops were also well- attended.

The week concluded with a group concert, allowing for all skill levels to confidently express themselves in a collaborative environment.

Caroline Wallace said music is known to be an expressive outlet.

“It improves memory, engages students in learning, builds skills and confidence,” she said.

Yarn, Support, Connect, - Coonabarabran’s suicide prevention network - supported Music Week.

Together, both networks created opportunities for broader community engagement throughout the week.

“Small towns like Coonabarabran often miss out on opportunities to strengthen the local arts and culture scene,” Yarn Support Connect chairperson, Kodi Brady said.

“So, it is valuable to the community to have people like Caroline and Emma, with decades of experience, coming for free.”

It is safe to say Music Week was a success and focused on the expression and inclusion of all locals.

Police appeal for information An investigation has been re-opened into the suspicious death of a baby at Binnaway in 2018.

Police are appealing f o r i n f o r m at i o n f r o m the community as investigations continue.

A rou nd 10 am on Monday, 23 July 2018, emergency services were called to a home at Binnaway following reports a nine-month-old girl was unresponsive.

The baby was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital

Str i ke Force K i ng was established by local detectives to investigate the circumstances surrounding the baby girl’s death, which was deemed as suspicious.

Despite extensive inquiries at the time and over the years, no one has been charged in relation to the child’s death.

After recently receiving new information, Strike Force officers executed a crime-scene warrant at a Binnaway home on Wednesday, 31 May 2023.

Women break with tradition

Women are choosing non-traditional trades as a career path and enjoying a new world of opportunities.

by GEORGIA SPENCE Local women Eleasha Gordon and Millie McEvoy have both chosen an unconventional career path in operating heavy machinery.

As they enter machines double the height of any human, these two women prepare for a day in their trade of earthmoving, breaking traditional gender roles with McEvoy’s Earthmoving and Haulage.

The business is centred around maintaining and filling in roads and fire trails throughout national parks.

This is important work, as it makes the roads safer and more accessible for workers, visitors and fire trucks.

The opportunity to gain new skills and work outside without the confines of four walls initially brought these women to the job.

The skillset gained when working with heavy plant creates a unique experience not found in classrooms or offices.

Millie described the advantages of a hands-on approach to learning and working in a trade.

“You aren’t studying to be a mechanic, but you learn so much about the machine because you have to

maintain it,” she said.

“You are in it every day. It is a part of the job.”

Problems sometimes arise, but the women face the issues with cool heads.

For example, on the second day of the job a hose blew on one of the machines, but Eleasha was able to act professionally and replace it.

“It feels awesome operating machinery,” she said.

However, the job doesn’t come without a few waves and stares from the other men on the job.

“I guess it is not something usually seen,” Eleasha said.

Representing women in trades is not unusual, however, it is becoming more common as workplaces become more inclusive.

A non-traditional trade is one where women represent less than 25 per cent of workers.

Through various mentoring programs and networking, the number of women in trades is growing.

Both Eleasha and Millie encourage anyone thinking of joining a trade to do it, regardless of traditional gender roles.

“Get out there, do it and prove them wrong,” Millie said.

May cattle yardings are the highest since 2020, up 51% from May 2022.

The lamb market softened despite reduced throughput, with some notable buyers absent from the saleyards.

Slaughter eased from the highs of last week but remain elevated on year-ago levels.

Cattle M ay t ot a l ya r d i n g s for cattle are up 51 per cent from May 2022 with continued supply from the herd rebu i ld . T he total yarding of 247,232 head is the h ighest monthly tota l since March 2020, when there was still some carryover supply in the north from the drought.

T hroughput through the indicators has been consistently high since the April public holidays, which is placing some pricing pressure on the ma rket. S ome repor ts noted the absence of notable buyers which is further reducing demand pressure, especially

at s ome of t he l a r ger markets.

This is being reflected i n the pro cessor cow i nd icat or wh ich has come back 12¢ week-onweek and 26% since 18 April. Feeder prices are seeing a similar trend, with prices easing 13 per cent in the same period.

As noted in previous we ek s , t he c ont i nue d supply and consistently filled kill f loor space at processors is impacting prices at the saleyards.

These factors are increasing the impact of quality and finish on the market with premiums being paid for stock with weight.

Not all the key buyers were present, with weight determining the export market sales.

Easing restocker demand is also contributing to dampened prices.

Bugaldie Biggest Morning Tea A great show of support for Bugaldie’s Biggest Morning Tea has raised an impressive $4000.

by LIZ CUTTS Local residents rallied behind the popular Cancer C ou nci l cha r it y f u ndraiser held at the Bugaldie Hall on Saturday, 3 June, when del ic iou s home cooked delights vied for popu la r ity w ith a f u n auction.

Over the years, thousa nds of dol la rs h av e b e e n r a i s e d f o r cancer research at the annual event held in the sma l l c ommu n ity, but organisers say that this year’s fund-raiser tops the lot.

“We are all astounded at t he a mou nt r a i s e d a t t h i s y e a r ’s e v e n t

considering the current economic climate,” said volunteer, Chris Munge.

“Community members have once again demonstrated thei r generous spirit, donating more th a n double the amount received in previous years. “ We k now p e ople are doing it tough

at the moment , so we tr u ly appreciat e thei r generosity.

“Our Biggest Morning Tea is only made possible because of our incredible volunteers who round up the amazing food, track down auction items and decorate the hall. “ B ug a ld ie ’s B i g ge st Morning Tea has become

Airborne electromagnetic survey in greater Dubbo to Coonabarabran region Time for a big fund-raising cuppa with Bugaldie Biggest Morning Tea organisers Hazel Johnston, Chris Munge, Kellie Hawker, Jacqui Johnston and Elise Butler.

The NSW Government’s Geological Survey, in collaboration with Geoscience Australia, are conducting an airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey to inform the search for mineral and groundwater resources.

The AEM survey area covers the greater Forbes to Dubbo region and has been extended north to the Coonabarabran region.

A helicopter will fly at a height of 70 m collecting data during daylight hours in June 2023. It will fly approximately east–west along lines up to 7.5 km apart and will avoid homesteads, towers, stock concentrations and steep terrain. It will remain within the survey boundary shown, except when turning around at the end of a survey line or flying to or from airfields.

Goats threaten Sandstone Caves

The impact of feral animals on native species is widely known, but damage to landforms is sometimes overlooked.

by JIMMY WHALAN Sandstone Caves, one of the most spectacular local treasures both for its natural beauty and cultural significance, has been under threat by invasive goats.

An ongoing issue over the last few years, the goats have made Sandstone Caves thei r home, with the smell of urine polluting the air for visitors to the

caves, and the goats hooves having the potential to cause significant damage to the fragile sandstone.

In the past, bar ricades have been erected to protect culturally-significant caves at the site from vandalism.

Now, sadly, it seems that additional barricade infrastructure may need to be installed to protect the site from further damages if the goats are not able to be

removed from the area.

A spokesperson for National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) said they were currently working to remove these goats from the area surrounding Sandstone Caves.

“T h e g oat s h ave th e potent i a l to cause damage to the sensitive cave environment,” the spokesperson said.

“One muster has already occurred,

and a further muster is being planned.

“NPWS is also in discussions with Gawambaraay Pilliga Joint Management Committee, looking at m o re pe r m a n ent so l ut i o n s, such a s further barricades to stop the goats from entering the cave areas.

“Existing barricades already protect important cultural sites.”

How long have you l ived i n Coonabarabran? Since I was born pretty much, so 18 years.

What ’s the most interesting job you’ve ever had? I’ve worked at Cardians for about five years. I make coffees, milkshakes. Sometimes we do functions and weddings in the area.

What’s your workday snack? Cookie dough!

You’ve had a stressful day – what’s your way of winding down? Sitting and talking to mum. We have a beautiful view of the Warrumbungle Range from our place, so I love to sit out there and watch the sunset.

How would your friends and family describe you in three words? I actually asked them about this – I said I’m hilarious, awesome, and friendly. [laughs]. They said that is so not true.

What song have you been playing on repeat? Daylight, by Harry Styles.

It always puts you in a good mood.

What was t he f i rst conce r t you ever went to? Jessica Mauboy, in Tamworth.

What gets you through a long road trip? A good Spotify playlist, some talkative friends, and a can of V. I’m usually driving because half of my friends still don’t have their licence.

What’s the most used emojis on your phone? Probably the laughing emoji and the heart emoji.

If you could have anyone around for dinner (dead or alive) who would it be? My dad.

And what would you cook him? A vanilla thickshake with a chicken stir fry. Something simple.

When was the last time you had a really good laugh? Probably today.

I laugh with my colleagues a lot – inside jokes with April, we just joke about silly stuff.

What’s something you’re looking forward to? Going to uni and starting fresh. I’ve deferred a nursing degree at Newcastle. Starting a whole new life and meeting new people.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? You never know what’s happened in someone else’s day, or what they’re struggling with. Treat everyone with kindness.

New amenities block finished in Dunedoo

The completion of a new, modern amenities building at Robertson Oval in Dunedoo has been welcomed by the community and local user groups. The state-of-the-art building features contemporary changerooms, toilets, kiosk and car park.

An official opening and community celebration will be held on Saturday, 1 July with a barbecue lunch and several games of rugby league. Warrumbungle Shire Council mayor, Cr Ambrose Doolan, said it would be great to see the community turn out and celebrate these wonderful new amenities building.

Birth certificates for Bungles bird tally First Nations people

Pathfinders and UNICEF Australia are partnering to provide free birth certificates to First Nations people in north-west NSW.

The spectacular bird of prey, the Peregrine Falcon has taken out top spot in a local bird count.

“As part of research on the recovery of the park from this impact, we started a volunteer bird count in 2014. We have counted birds every spring and autumn since then.

“Conditions have continued to be favourable since spring, with creeks still holding some water despite a few dry months l at e su m mer, but t he continuing mild conditions are favouring abundant g rass, sh r ub a nd tree growth throughout the National Park.

“The information and records gathered have been invaluable, with each year bringing the rewards of new sightings.”

“During our surveys, we have detected 146 of these species,” added Mrs Whittall. “ U n f o r t u n at e l y, n o

“The Peregrine Falcon is one of the fastest birds of prey; it is able to fly at speeds of up to 300 km/h, and it soars to a great height in search of prey. “ Pairs may hunt coop er at ively, w it h one m e m b e r, u s u a l l y t h e male, scattering a flock of birds while the other swoops down to attack a particular individual. “ T h is co - operative behaviour is most often obser ved du r ing the breeding season.

“It mates for life and pairs maintain a home range of about 20km to 30km square throughout the year.

a nest, it lays its eggs in recesses of cliff faces, tree hollows or in the large abandoned nests of other birds. “ It was wonderful to see this bird during our survey.”

Bird count participants came from central west NSW, Sydney and as far away as the South Coast. “ New pa r ticipa nts joined this season, which is great,” Mrs Whittall said. “ Pa r ticipa nts ra nge from novices to expert and over the life of the surveys we have had beginners right through to twitchers (the experts), and all ages!

“A ll the participants said they enjoyed this year’s field trip and are keen to return in spring.

“Survey results a r e s u bm it t e d t o t he Environment NSW BioNet Atlas. “ The BioNet aims to i mpr ove biod iversity out c omes by en abl i ng the c ommu n it y a nd government to proactively m a n a g e a nd en h a n c e biod iversity i n NS W through comprehensive, credible and robust data and information. “ T he fact that we have detected so many species is an amazing achievement and a good indication that birds in the Warrumbungle National Park are thriving.”

UNICEF Australia’s chief advocate for children, Nicole Breeze said having your birth recognised and having a birth certificate is extremely important.

“Without a birth certificate, a person’s ability to participate fully in society can become

difficult over their lifetime.

For children, this can mean challenges accessing early learning opportunities, critical health checks and support that are vital for their development,” Ms Breeze said.

The Coonabarabran event will be held on Wednesday, 14 June 2023 from 9.30am – 3.00pm at the Coonabarabran Local Aboriginal Land Council office, 61 John Street Coonabarabran.

When eagle-eyed birdos returned to the region to record avian species in the Warrumbungle National Park, they were delighted to record 74 species and over 1100 individual birds.

A citizen science bird survey project, ‘Back to Bungles Bird Week’ was held over four days from Thursday, 27 to Sunday, 30 April.

“Each year there are two survey events, autumn and spring, and this has been unbroken since we commenced monitoring the recovery of the bird community following the Wambelong f i re,” sa id Pilliga Forest Birdwatcher and event organiser, May Whittall. “ The fire burnt nearly 90 per cent of the Warrumbungle National Park.

Next Wednesday, 14 June, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Warrumbungle Shire are invited to attend a face to face sign-up day at Coonabarabran, where they can apply for and receive their birth certificates.

Along with similar events at Cobar, Gilgandra, Nyngan and Warren, this day is part of the Pathfinders National Aboriginal Birth Certificate Program (PNABC) which is open to parents who would like to get birth certificates for their children, as well adults who don’t have a birth certificate.

Pathfinders CEO, Alan Brennan, said there are an estimated 200,000 Aboriginal people around Australia who do not have their birth certificates and are unable to fully participate in the community.

“A birth certificate is essential for enrolling in school, getting a drivers license, voting, opening a bank account, getting a tax file number, a passport and applying for government benefits,” Mr Brennan said.

“Pathfinders and UNICEF Australia know that a birth certificate is a critical step in giving children opportunities in life, but it is never too late to get a birth certificate.

Even adults have a lot to gain from getting their birth certificate and we’re hopeful for a large turnout at the sign-up days.

North West Equestrian Expo is still hot to trot Competitors at the 2023 North West Equestrian Expo were met with more dust than mud this year, with mostly clear weather throughout the 31st year of the event.

by JIMMY WHALAN T h e a n n u a l competition ran from F r i d a y, 2 J u n e t o Tuesday, 6 June, with 5 0 0 competito rs from over 70 schools making thei r annual t r i p to Coonabarabran for the largest interschool high school equestrian event in Australia.

North West Equestrian E x p o s e c reta r y, Rebecca Moxham said th i s yea r’s event wa s capped at 5 0 0 r iders to e n s u re eve r y t h i n g ran smoothly and the grounds were not too crowded.

D e s p i t e t h e limitations, Mrs Moxham said the event remained the biggest of its kind in Australia.

Mrs Moxham said one of the h ig h l ig ht s of this year’s Expo was the olocrosse final on Sunday evening, which was a hit for spectators and riders alike.

The final was ultimately won by th ree r ider s f r o m K i n r o s s Wo l a r o i School, in Orange, who previously took out the competition in 2022 and have also represented Australia in Polocrosse.

Anothe r crowni ng moment was when riders f ro m S cot s A l l S a i nt s College in Bathurst won t h e E ve nt i n g t ro p hy, d efen d i n g th e i r t wo year title.

However, Ms Moxham said the most popular event was the Working Horse Challenge, which attracted approximately 3 0 0 com petito r s and was ultimately won by Georgia Maben, from Scone Grammar School.

Georgia went on to win the Highest Individual Point Score at Expo s final presentation on Tuesday.

T h e w i n wa s m a d e even more special as it was lex s final year competing at Expo.

M r s M o x h a m commended Alex fo r her efforts in training the

horse herself for such a high-standard event.

Alex said she was especially proud of her horse, Lucille.

“She was home-bred from a young ma re that I rode when I was younger,” Alex said.

“My dad and my b rot h e r b ro ke h e r i n and, since then, she’s been my project horse, which has been a great outlet throughout Year 12.

“She’s only four, but she handled the busy a t m o s p h e r e l i ke s h e was 10 years older than she is.”

Alex said she had been fortunate to grow up on horses that her family had trained and made into good horses.

“I’m grateful to have had the oppor tunity to learn how to make Luci l le into a good horse, and it was lovely to finish my Expo days on a win.”

Both Alex and Hannah are daughters of former Expo competitors, Ren Letts and Lucy Evans, and have become par t of a horse- riding l eg acy pa s sed dow n from parents to children.

Mrs Moxham said the organising committee wa s h a p py w i t h h ow the event went th i s year, chalking it down as another successful North West Equestrian Expo.

“I would like to give my compl iments to the r iders on another succes s fu l event, the standard seems to be improving every year,” Mrs Moxham said.

10 JUNE Conjunction of the Moon and Saturn The evening of Saturday, 10 June will see the Moon and Saturn make a close approach in the sky, eventually reaching the same ascension known as a ‘conjunction’.

14 JUNE Conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter Wednesday, 14 June will see the Moon make a close approach with another planet – Jupiter. The two will be in conjunction at around the same time.

18 JUNE New Moon On Sunday, 18 June there will be no Moon visible in the sky as the Moon passes close to the sun, becoming lost in its glare for the following couple of days. Assuming clear weather, this will make for an ideal night for stargazing.

22 JUNE Conjunction of the Moon and Venus, Conjunction of the Moon and Mars Thursday, 22 June will mark the shortest day of 2023 or the winter solstice. During this long night, both Venus and Mars will closely approach the Moon, making for quite a spectacular sight.

Tooraweenah Public Chickens for ag Our very excited 1/2/4 class travelled into Gilgandra last week to receive our order of fifteen 18-week old Isa Brown hens. While there, the students purchased some chicken scratch mix and shell grit to stock our ‘Chicken Caravan’.

The Kindergarten

students were keenly awaiting their return and upon arrival, helped to unload and settle the chickens into their new enclosure. It was lovely to see our older students assist and encourage our Kindergarten students on how to gently hold the chickens and care for them.

We are very thankful to Ian and Margo Dent for assisting in clipping the wings of the chickens to ensure they remain in the area.

Thanks also to Mrs Jenkin, Mrs Barry and Mrs Quilter who provided transport and supervision for the excursion.

Biggest Morning Tea Coonabarabran High School recently participated in the Biggest Morning Tea. Students from the school’s Year 11 hospitality class catered for the event, with students and staff enjoying the fruits of their labour.

Through the event, the school raised more than $950 dollars for the Cancer Council, with the funds helping the service provide vital support, prevention education, and research.

Events such as the Biggest Morning Tea not only provide hospitality students with the opportunity to practice the skills they are learning through catering for such a large event, but also helps increase awareness of the activities of the Cancer Council.

Warrumbungle National Park: Part 2 Myles Dunphy D u nphy wa s fac ed with the need to prepare a subm ission t o the Minister for Lands and this required a map to show his organisation’s proposals for a national monument.

Pa r ish maps were available, but these were considered too large and 16 were needed to cover the whole area.

He decided to prepare a m ap c ompi l at ion of the area from all these sources.

On 23 September 1936, the following letter from the NPPA Council wa s for wa r de d t o t he Undersecretary for Lands, Sydney: “ R ecent v isits by several parties of climbers t o t he Wa r r u mbu ng le Ranges have once more raised interest in this remarkable assemblage of peaks and rocky spires.

“Another party has just depa r ted f rom Syd ney bound for the locality, and we know that others are considering paying the district a visit when opportunity offers. “ My Council believes the time oppor tune t o suggest that the most spectacular peaks, spires and other remarkable rock formations of this group, w ith thei r c on ne c t i ng divides or heights of land, as much as possible of their talus slopes, together with areas suitable for camping pu r p o s e s , c o u ld v e r y well be reserved as the ‘Warrumbungles National

Monument Reserve’.

“As the Warrumbungle Ranges country is mostly alienated, it is likely that difficulty will arise in desig ning a connected area or strip of country to enclose the main features of interest.

“The parts required or considered suitable for reservation might have to remain disconnected, but this condition should not be considered inimical to the interests of the proposed national monument. “ In the event of this suggestion being adopted, my Council suggests that provision might be made for two camping areas widely separated, each h av i n g a c le a n wat er supply and wood for fuel one for camping motorists and another for camping walkers.

“A common campi ng place is def initely unsu itable for both k i nds of ca mpi ng a nd the mistake should be avoided in this instance, if possible. “ It i s my C ou n c i l ’s intention to approach the local governing authorities regarding this proposition stating what we believe will be the advantages of such a reserve to the district and requesting an expression of opinion. “ We believe that the ‘ n at ion a l monu ment ’ type of reserve is now a necessity in this State, for the protection of a great number of rema rkable features, mostly isolated

a nd either n at u ra l or historical.

“There are unique rock formations, groves of type trees or individual large trees, megaliths, natural ferneries, scenic passes, lagoons and lakes, small areas of coastal brush, and the like. “ Many of these ra re objects a re being destroyed, and the appearance and nature of others are becoming greatly altered. “ We r e a l i s e t h at ‘national monument’ is not yet a public purpose under the Crown Lands Consolidation Act, but suggest – a s we h ave indicated in the matter of primitive area reserves – that the Minister for L a nds appa rently has power under Section 5 (public purposes) Section 24, Section 26 and Section 31 of the Act to declare ‘national monument’ a public purpose, to reserve such areas as such, and to appoint trustees for same (Refer to Tallowa Primitive Reserve, Shoalhaven River, 7,700 acres, recently gazetted.)

Dunphy has used names that are different to current usage. Crater Bluff is named Belagery Split Rock and other feature locations are not very accurate, but it is the first of Dunphy’s maps and shows more detail than any that existed at the time. The legend area of the proposal map provides details of the intentions of the National Parks and Primitive Areas Council. Note the date of 1945 at bottom right. Supporters of both the Narromine Jets and the Gilgandra Panthers filed out of Narromine’s Cale Oval questioning if there has ever been a more dramatic finish to a game of rugby league than the one that they had just witnessed!

With just three minutes to go, Gilgandra supporters were ecstatic when their winger, George Alchin,

appeared to everyone to have touched down in the north corner on the eastern side of the field, finishing off a movement that started deep in Panthers’ half to break what was a 16-all deadlock on the score board at the time!

Moments later, however, t hey wer e lo ok i n g at Na r r om i ne’s Brad Pickering slotting a penalty goal for the Jets at the other end of the field to give the home side an 18-16 win.

On the report of a touch judge, Alchin’s ‘try’ was den ied a nd a pena lt y was awarded to the Jets, way back down the other end of the field where the Panthers’ movement had started.

T he r e a s on for t he penalty being that when the Panthers’ winger was touching down in the northeastern corner of the field, a Gilgandra interchange player, in his exuberance and celebration at what

he was witnessing, left the bench located on the western side of the field near the half way line, and crossed the nearby sideline. W hile the interchange player was nowhere near the play or had any involvement in what happened on the field, his crossing of the sideline meant that Gi lgand ra technically had 14 players on the field before the try was awarded! This was duly reported by the touch judge and the try was denied and the penalty given some 80 metres up the field.

It is doubtful if ever a game has been won or lost in such circumstances, but the result means that the Jets retain the Boronia Cup and their upward location on the competition table!

There will be a general bye in the competition this weekend before round six on 17 June, when one of the highlights of the round

Cotton awards finalists announced The finalists have been announced for the Australian cotton industry’s most prestigious awards in 2023.

Nominees in the running, across five categories, include growers and industry personnel from Central Queensland to southern New South Wales.

Cotton Australia chief executive officer Adam Kay said there has been another outstanding response

to the call for nominations from some of the best growers in Australia.

Woman charged following two car crash near Moree Police news

A woman has been charged following a two-vehicle crash near Moree earlier this year.

Just after 8am on Monday, March 6, 2023, officers attached to New England Police District attended the Newell Highway, about 60 kilometres north of Moree, following reports a Ford Territory and a Toyota Landcruiser had collided at a road works zone.

The front passenger in the Ford – a 28-year-old woman – was freed by emergency services after being trapped.

She was airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital with serious facial and leg injuries.

The driver, a 68-year-old woman and four passengers – aged between two and five – were treated for minor injuries and taken to Moree

District Hospital for observation.

The Toyota driver – a 77-year-old woman – was taken to Goondiwindi Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A crime scene was established with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The 68-year-old woman attended Coonabarabran Police Station on Thursday, May 25, where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm drive manner dangerous, negligent driving, drive with older than seven-years-old younger than 16-years-old not restrained as prescribed and drive with older than four-years-old younger than seven-years-old not restrained as prescribed.

The woman was given a future court attendance notice to appear at Moree Local Court.

Preparation 20 min | Cooking 50 min | Serves 8 INGREDIENTS STEP 3 Gradually whisk in flour until batter is well combined.

There is renewed optimism in the Gunnedah health sector with several new doctors joining its ranks – one as recently as this month.

The Gunnedah Times confirmed at least 10 doctors are practising across three GP surgeries in town.

It is the shot in the arm the Gunnedah community desperately needed after years of full appointment books and long wait lists.
