Congregation Beth Israel is proud to be a part of the Portland community since our founding in 1858. We are affiliated with the Reform Movement through the Union for Reform Judaism. While our history provides us with a rich heritage, embracing new congregants ensures that we will be here to serve generations to come.
Beneath our dome is a spiritual home, a place of community and friendship, a place to be inspired through prayer, a place for lifelong learning, and a place where every person makes a difference.
Our members come from all walks of life. We welcome Jewish singles and single parents, Jewish students, non-Jewish spouses and partners, Jews of color, LGBTQ and Jewish families in all their diversity committed to having a Jewish home and to raising their children as Jews.
Our programs are designed to meet the diverse spiritual, religious, education and social needs of our members.
