THE LEADERS IN HOME THEATER DESIGN

E EDITORS NOTE

ach edition planning session is a meeting of the minds. Different individuals with different interests and perspectives sharing ideas on topics our readers may be interested in learning about. For me personally, I’ve always had such a strong interest in fashion and style so I can’t help but always gravitate to what’s trending in the fashion world. Our core topics at CDM are fashion, beauty, travel, food, and health. Each of these topics is always evolving.

Fall is my favorite season, but it’s only my favorite if I’m traveling to an area that experiences a true fall season with leaves changing colors and cooler weather. Since we do not experience a true fall season in South Florida, transitioning from Summer to Fall is somewhat difficult as we are still experiencing some of our hottest temperatures here. With all of the stores and designers introducing their fall and winter collections filled with sweaters and coats that we cannot wear, how can we show our fall fashion style in South Florida? With our Fall neutrals article, we show you how to easily transition to Fall style with pieces that embrace the fall color palette but have light fabrics perfect for the Florida Fall weather.

Continuing with a fashion-driven mindset, we are excited to share the woman behind the Lola Dré brand as our featured CDM Ex-

clusive article. Lorry Rahman of Lola Dré, has created a brand that has quickly made a presence in the fashion industry and has evolved and expanded in a short time. This will be a story that will surely be an inspiring read. Lola Dré is also our Style Edit Contributor which features some of the boutique's Top Fall looks by some of their featured luxury designers. All of the looks featured can be shopped at their boutique located in Jupiter or online at loladre.com.

“Life is change and every day is an opportunity for a fresh start.”

Self-wellness is such a top priority for many now. Taking care of our body and mind for overall longevity and quality of life is key. Natural, healthy skin is a top priority for women today. Less is more. Move over filters and airbrushing, natural is in. Embrace your natural inner and outer beauty and invest in taking care of your skin for your today and your tomorrow. As we age, skincare isn’t the only thing women have to work extra hard at. Our hormones are a whole other story. Many women experience changes in how they feel and don’t know how they can feel better. Hormone replacement therapy aka HRT is such a hot topic in the medical community today. Ac-

complished medical professional, Dr. Brett A. Osborn, the owner of Senolytix has provided a great deal of information about this topic to help answer questions for women who may be interested in understanding HRT.

Before we know it, the holidays will be here. As we approach the holiday season, it’s important to remember not to get overwhelmed or lose sight of what’s important. Continuing to make time for yourself whether it’s your workouts, spa treatments, or meditation sessions is key to not sacrifice your overall wellness during the holidays. Remember that holidays are not about gifts but enjoying the time with those that mean the most to you. Make a difference in someone’s life this holiday. Whether it’s donating or volunteering for your favorite charity, doing a little something can make a huge difference for someone. CDM has outlined some ways that you can make a difference in our holiday-giving article.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

A New Vision

Wanting a new look, The Seagate Hotel & Spa's Golf Club in Delray Beach got a recent refresh. Drawing inspiration from the opulent 1970s Palm Beach aesthetic and Hollywood Regency style, New York based design firm Stonehill Taylor's redesign is a celebration of the chic and bold eclecticism found amongst the Southeast region.

New York-based interior design and architecture firm Stonehill Taylor embarks on a transformative journey to breathe new life into The Seagate Hotel & Spa's Golf Club. The design vision is rooted in the timeless allure of the 1970s Palm Beach aristocratic era, further accentuated by the carefully curated art selection and tropical-inspired accents. The Golf Club includes amenities such as a dining room, ballroom, meeting rooms, outdoor patio, tennis and pickleball courts, gym and an 18-hole golf course.

Stonehill Taylor meticulously curated an interior refresh that pays homage to the 1970s glamor of the greater Palm Beach area and iconic Hollywood Regency style. From the moment members step foot into the Club, they are transported to a world where

tropical opulence meets Art Deco sophistication. The custom reception desk, crafted with burlwood and leather accents exudes sophistication and sets the tone for the luxurious experience. Complimented with brass light fixtures, evoking a vintage charm that adds character to the space. The golf club fosters socialization offering multiple seating areas with plush tufted couches, ideal for accommodating large groups while enhancing the overall inviting atmosphere.

At the heart of the design lies the art collection carefully curated by Stonehill Taylor, featuring abstract paintings and vintage photos of Palm Beach captured by renowned photographer Slim Aarons. Each piece tells a story, weaving together the

threads of the past and present in a captivating tapestry of artistic expression. The color palette showcases warm green and white hues that are reminiscent of sun-drenched afternoons and balmy evenings. Burlwood accents and lime wash paint adorn the walls, casting a warm and inviting glow throughout the public areas. Soft whites and rust tones pair harmoniously with sage greens, evoking the lush landscapes of Florida's coastal paradise.

As members wander through the meticulously designed golf club, they are greeted by bespoke plasterwork decor and elegant blackened metal accents, adding a touch of old world charm to the contemporary setting. The outdoor areas are transformed into tranquil sanctuaries, with rattan furniture and marble dining tables inviting members to unwind and bask in the beauty of their surroundings. 2024 Housing Market Update

The real estate market in Northern Palm Beach County and Southern Martin Counties is seeing a rise in inventory, though this is less pronounced in the ultra-luxury segment. Despite the increase in available properties, prices have remained relatively stable. Recent perceived price declines are primarily due to homes initially listed at 25% or even 40% above their “Covid Era Peak” values.

Sellers should be wary of agents proposing unrealistically high prices just to secure a listing. A true professional will provide proper pricing strategies and a solid, proven marketing plan. Pricing properties competitively is essential to create urgency among buyers and achieve the highest possible sale price.

Looking ahead, mortgage rates are expected to decrease over the next 6-12 months, potentially reigniting price increases as buyers who have been waiting return to the market. Robert Reffkin, CEO of Compass Inc., believes that a 6% interest rate could be the key to renewed market activity.

Savvy sellers understand the importance of incentivizing the buyer brokerage community through fair compensation. Recent changes to buyer brokerage representation rules on the MLS are unlikely to significantly alter the transaction landscape, but offering competitive incentives remains crucial for attracting buyers and their agents.

In summary, the markets discussed are stable and the process is returning to a more normal pre-Covid marketplace, where hiring a true professional has never been more important.

The agents at The Hughes Browne Group at Compass are exceptionally qualified to guide both sellers and buyers in Northern Palm Beach and Southern Martin Counties. Our team offers superior service at any price level and is well-equipped to ensure a successful transaction.

Women Empowering Women

A local organization that empowers women on their journey to independence through education, interview skills, and wardrobe assistance.

Dress for Success Palm Beaches (DFSPB) is an affiliate of Dress For Success, a global organization founded in 1997 dedicated to empowering women on their journey to economic independence. They not only provide professional attire, but they also offer a range of tools and resources to support women for their personal and professional growth. To further enhance a woman’s journey to financial independence, DFSPB also provides free job readiness classes to ensure that women have all the support they need to succeed in the professional world.

Since its establishment in April 2010, the Palm Beaches chapter has played a vital role in supporting the women in the community, when at the time the poverty rate was 15%. Also serving Broward and

Martin counties, DFSPB has positively impacted the lives of over 7,000 women. DFSPB carefully matches its clients with volunteers who offer coaching for job interviews, help with resume writing, and guidance in navigating online job search platforms. This personalized support aims to boost the confidence of these women as they prepare to enter or re-enter the workforce. Additionally, the organization provides comprehensive job readiness programs, both in person and online via Zoom, all provided at no charge.

In May 2021, Dress for Success Palm Beaches opened a satellite boutique in Belle Glade. This does allow for DFSPB’s reach to extend to an underserved part of Palm Beach County and to expand their capabilities to more of the area.

Beyond the Suit

Finding a professional outfit can be such an emotional journey for women.

The signature service at Dress for Success Palm Beaches is the Suiting Program where women of all ages can obtain what they need for a job interview— from clothing to confidence! Essential wardrobe items fill their boutiques and are graciously donated by individuals, companies, and retailers. Volunteer personal stylists also assist all of the clients in their selection of the perfect interview outfit. All donated items must be new or gently used, suitable for a job interview, and clean. In addition to clothing, DFSPB also accepts accessories like jewelry, handbags, shoes, makeup, beauty essentials, and undergarments. Contributions truly help make a world of difference to someone in need.

DFSPB support goes beyond helping women look and feel their best for interviews. They also provide career advice and have routine discussions on worker rights, financial literacy, co-worker relations, and

stress management even after a client is successfully hired. The support doesn’t stop there. Once a client is officially hired, they will receive a complimentary full work-week wardrobe.

The organization faces challenges in continuing its mission, but they confront these challenges head-on. Led by CEO Joe Ann Fletcher, a staff of 4, a board of 15, and countless volunteers are the ones who see that the goals that were set out at the beginning are met.

Without volunteers, Dress for Success Palm Beaches could not succeed. Teamwork makes the dream work, and volunteers are essential to helping DFSPB thrive. A collaborative effort is crucial in achieving their goals, and the dedicated volunteers play an important role in ensuring the continued success of DFSPB. Most volunteers are women in the workforce who want to give back and those who have already retired from business life. They juggle multiple roles, such as mentorship, personal shopping, and career counseling, while actively assisting

in various fundraising initiatives.

Funding Dress for Success Palm Beaches Fundraising is a part of their mission that will always have a need. DFSPB does a couple of big events throughout the year. One is a Shop For Success Pop-Up Shop, which is a three-day bargain ex-

Josie Natori, Badgley Mischka, and Tommy Hilfiger with Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger. If you want to plan for 2025, the next Style for Hope Luncheon & Gala is set for Friday, March 7, 2025, and the 2025 Style Icon will be Bobbi Brown, Founder of Jones Road Beauty and renowned makeup artist.

hibition featuring designer labels and other donated fashions that don't meet the criteria for the DFSPB boutiques. This event is held 3-4 times annually. The other big event is the Style for Hope Luncheon & Gala. This event, held every year in early March, honors DFSPB success stories, a volunteer of the year, and a renowned Style Icon with ties to the local community. This event brings together corporate South Florida and women of distinction. Established in 2019, the Style Icon Award honors fashion and style trailblazers aligned with DFSPB's mission. Previous honorees include Lilly Pulitzer, Iris Apfel,

where the power of women is fully harnessed and their contributions are recognized as essential to economic sustainability. Their vision includes creating an environment where women can obtain better and safer futures. By empowering women, Dress for Success Palm Beaches aims to foster a more inclusive and prosperous society where gender equality and economic stability go hand in hand.

Sip, Sit, and Relax

Tea time is a tradition for family & friends to gather and enjoy tea and delicasies.

Serenity Teahouse & Cafe in West Palm Beach is THE place for afternoon tea - South Florida style!

Historically, the concept of the tea room had several meanings. Besides the obvious as a place to go and sip tea, in victorian times it was a way that a woman could earn income. These started small, with mostly middle class women opening up a room in their home or setting up space in their garden and offering tea and light meals. This concept was not just limited to this country. This also happened in England as Brit-

ish women were also looking for ways to make extra money. This is the concept of how the tea rooms began, but how does that translate to today?

There are times when you just want to get away from the world to relax, meet with friends, and enjoy a cup of tea. Imagine being in a cottage in the English countryside, meeting with a group of friends over a pot of warm tea with the smells coming from the

kitchen wafting in the air and being able to leave your worries of the world at the door. That is the feeling at Serenity Teahouse & Cafe in West Palm Beach, located just a few blocks south of the Norton Museum of Art.

Owner Audrey Farrelly greets you at the door and you feel like you are in her home. Each table is meticuoulsly set with a linen tablecloth and fine porcelain china with a linen napkin that compli-

ments the decor.

The menu offers an extensive selection of teas from around the world. Options range from classic black and green teas to exotic herbal and floral blends. The staff, knowledgeable and passionate about tea, are usually eager to help you choose the perfect brew, offering recommendations based on your preferences.

Participating in a tea party is not just about sipping a warm cup of tea. It's an age-old tradition, a social gathering that revolves around the enjoyment of a warm beverage, and the camaraderie it

fosters. At Serenity, this timeless ritual takes on a unique character, blending classic elements with local flavors.

As you sip your tea, you might pair it with a selection of delicate pastries, scones, or light sandwiches. The combination of flavors enhance the overall experience, making each sip and bite a moment of pleasure. You might find yourself relaxing, reading a book, engaging in quiet conversation with a friend, or simply enjoying the serene atmosphere.

Serenity Teahouse can arrange for your own event to experience

the offerings. From a bridal luncheon to a gathering for 40, they can accommodate any special event.

Experience the rich traditions and vibrant flavors of tea from around the world with a carefully curated selection of teas and food, and enjoy the warm and inviting atmosphere at Serenity Teahouse & Cafe.

A Leading Brand in Local Luxury Fashion

A local luxury fashion boutique is dominating the luxury fashion scene for fashionistas in search of high-end women’s fashion, resort wear, and bridal wear.

While we once had to make a trip to the iconic Worth Avenue shopping district or a major department store to find elite designer fashion brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Aquazurra, Missoni, and Naeem Khan to name a few; we now have access to many of these brands and more right here in Jupiter, Florida.

Relocating to Palm Beach County, Florida from New Jersey, Lorry Rahman has always had a love for fashion and a dream of owning her own retail store. With the help of her husband and CEO, Joseph Rahman, they created a brand that represents femininity, luxury, and elegance for the South Florida clientele.

Their stylish boutique of Lola Dré, located at Harbourside Place in Jupiter, FL exudes luxury with crystal chandeliers, designer handbags, and shoes on display in beautiful shelving and bouquets of Venus et Fleur flowers throughout the store. Located behind a secret door hides a luxurious VIP shopping and styling suite for the clientele looking for a more private shopping experience and personal styling services.

Going above and beyond the traditional retailer role to cater to clients' needs has separated them from online luxury retailers and department stores. Offering services such as personalized styling, consignment packages, personal delivery, shipping, and custom tailoring for VIP clients has allowed clients to shop local and have a luxurious, personalized shopping experience. “Knowing our customer is key. Knowing their style, their past purchases with us, their size and fit, and even their travel schedule. We are about creating relationships”, says Lorry.

Seeing the community's positive response to the Lola Dré boutique, The Rahman’s decided to expand their brand to offer elevated resort wear and opened Sand by Lola Dré just a few steps away across the street. Sand by Lola Dré offers a beautiful selection of chic, resort wear by top brands such as PatBo, Staud, Missoni, Zimmerman and more.

After a short time of only five years since opening its doors, Lola Dré has quickly made its name a recognized brand. A brand that they have perfected by directing all of their styling and photography in-house. Joining the brand since inception, Maria Brogna, Partner and Creative VP, brings years of industry experience in the luxury fashion world. Lola Dré was built around a vision to cultivate a collection of the most coveted and emerging designers and the latest trends and styles. Lola Dré attends the New York and Paris markets in search of only those pieces which align with their unique perspective of blending novelty and specialty pieces for women to shop where they know they will find a one-of-akind pieces in a one-of-a-kind setting.

Since mastering the concept of women’s contemporary and resort wear fashion, Lorry recognized a need in the Jupiter area for a different kind of fashion; bridal gowns by top bridal designers. With many local brides travelling to major Florida cities such as Miami and Orlando to find luxury bridal designers such as Lee Petra Grebanau, Netta Ben Shabu, Reem Acra, and Naeem Khan, to name a few, Lorry thought it would be a great addition and expansion for the Lola Dré brand. Now after opening only one year ago, Brides by Lola Dré located next

door to their main Harbourside location, has taken the bridal scene by surprise!  They even caught the attention of the very well-known Kleinfeld in New York City. They hosted a Lola Dré/Kleinfeld event featuring Randy Fenoli, star of “TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress” last year and have since collaborated with the bridal mogul again launching a new concept for bridal dress resale.

Coastal Drive Magazine talks with Lorry herself on her start to her fashion journey, creating her brand, expanding her brand and what’s next for the Lola Dré brand.

CDM: Lorry, thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. When did you decide that you wanted to open your own boutique?

LR: Fashion has always been a part of my life, but I was inspired by our trips to Europe where we experienced some of the most beautiful boutiques with exceptional customer service that is not easily found in the US.  I thought to myself we need this in Florida!

CDM:  What inspired your design and vision for

Lola Dré?

LR: The concept of Lola Dré is born from the idea of sitting in your best friend’s closet trying on all the latest styles in a beautiful, luxurious setting. In the age of online shopping, I wanted to return to brickand-mortar in a judgment-free space where you and your girlfriends can come drink champagne and try on the latest fashions in a judgment-free zone.

CDM: You opened Lola Dré in 2019 and shortly after opening were faced with the pandemic which changed people’s habits on fashion tremendously. How did you adjust your business model to adapt to this change?

LR: We adapted to the change by developing a full e-commerce website which received a great amount of attention at the time and has continued to grow to date.  We developed our online space to feel as if you are shopping in Lola Dré, only virtually.  The Lola Dré vision is carried forward through the look and feel of our website along with our virtual customer service and innovative technology which makes our customers feel as though they are shopping at our store from the comfort of their own home.

CDM: You have seen firsthand so many changes in fashion over the past five years, what are some of the most notable trends you have seen?

LR: The pandemic did not do us any favors by bringing us the athleisure trend which is the total opposite of our brand.  We then noticed a giant shift from athleisure wear to the party girl era adorned with cutouts, sequins, and sparkles.  There was a small blip of quiet luxury and the return to the nineties before we settled back into the slow return of high fashion.

CDM: What are some of the Fall/Winter fashion trends that we can expect to see?

LR: The Fall/Winter 24/25 season is one of the strongest seasons we have seen in a while with the return of true pre-holiday red, burgundy, and chocolate browns in beautiful silhouettes.  Plaid, Glen Plaid, and Houndstooth have returned in a modern way as well as rich velvet and tuxedo dressing for the holiday.

CDM: What are some of the most popular designers you currently carry at Lola Dré and Sand by Lola Dré?

LR:  Dolce & Gabbana, Christopher Esber, Paco Rabanne, Missoni, Simkhai, Silvia Tcherassi, Zimmermann, Aquazzura and Gianvito Rossi.  Two of our newest additions have quickly become among our most popular brands – Francesca Miranda and Britt Netta. Francesca Miranda is a RTW brand based out of Columbia featuring intricate lace details and beautiful silks while Britt Netta, a NY based footwear designer, has perfectly incorporated the mesh trend into footwear.

CDM: Are there any new designers that you plan to carry in the future?

LR: We are very excited to introduce 16 Arlington (we almost bought the entire collection), along with Clea, Johanna Ortiz Swimwear, Waimari, Devon Windsor, and many more.

CDM: You have expanded your brand into bridal fashion recently. Was it a difficult transition for bridal from contemporary and resort wear fashion?

LR: Actually, it was an easy transition as so many of our Lola customers were becoming brides and kept asking us to carry bridal gowns.  We quickly realized that our girl wanted the same type of fashion and level of service they are accustomed to at Lola Dré, but only in a bridal gown.

CDM: Did your connection with designers through Lola Dré help establish your credibility with the bridal industry designers?

LR: Absolutely.  When we first reached out to our bridal designers, they were impressed by the Lola Dré website and the caliber of designers we were able to secure in just 4 short years.

CDM: Who is a Brides by Lola Dré bride?

LR: The Lola Dré bride is often our client or a friend of our client who loves fashion and is used to shopping in a beautiful atmosphere with top-level customer service.  Lola Dré has helped our bridal business immensely by giving wedding planners in the area a place to send their brides simply on our reputation alone.  Brides by Lola Dré can accommodate any bride’s silhouette and style.

CDM: Brides by Lola Dré has collaborated with Kleinfeld which included a TLC’s, “Say Yes to the Dress” event and a secondary bridal dress venture. Can you tell us about the secondary dress concept?

LR: Kleinfeld Again is a resale website for selling your preowned wedding gown. After in-depth market studies, we have discovered along with Kleinfeld,

that there is a large demand for such service. Any bride can list her dress on Kleinfeld Again (kleinfeldagain.com) through a very user-friendly interface. Sellers can set their prices, communicate with the buyers, and finalize the sale. The seller ships the dress to Kleinfeld Again for inspection and verification, which adds a layer of protection to both the seller and the buyer. Once the dress passes inspection, the seller gets paid by either check or PayPal.

CDM: What are some of the top bridal dress style trends that you are seeing for Fall/Winter?

LR: At our last bridal market, we noticed an increase in drop waist and Basque waist trends as well as the return of lace.  The clean look is still popular, but new unique twists have been added such as mixed medias and the addition of removable floral accents.  We’re very excited to receive this new collection this Fall.

CDM: Are there any new Lola Dré expansions on the horizon?

LR: We’re always looking to expand our brand and even though we would love to share our ideas, you’ll have to stay tuned!

CDM: Are you involved in or support any local organizations and if yes, why did you choose the organization?

LR: Yes, giving back to the community is very important to us.  We have previously partnered with the Selfless Love Foundation, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, and The Center for Family Services Palm Beach.  We have supported many other organizations that we are passionate about such as The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Place of Hope, LLS, and The American Heart Association.

CDM: How do you manage three boutiques and make time for yourself and your family?

LR: LOL!!!  Life is a balancing act!  All kidding aside, our staff is a well-oiled machine ranging from those who have been with us from the start to our newest additions. We also depend on a range of software developed by us to automate most of the processes in each business. Software automation helped us cut down on the time consumed over repetitive

tasks. Our in-depth data collection from purchases, helped us understand our customers better through detailed reporting, which in turn helped us optimize our buy for each season.

CDM: What advice would you give to any young ladies considering entrepreneurship?

LR: Don’t be afraid to try and don’t be afraid to ask for help.  When all else fails, make sure you never run out of coffee and wine! Honestly, the majority of entrepreneurs quit just before they reach their goals. Don’t be afraid to fail, every time you fail, you gain knowledge on how not to do things in the future. You must have patience, dedication, and passion to see it through.

CDM: Do you have a quote that you live by?

LR: I have three:

Live each day to the fullest!

Treat others the way you wish to be treated. Never take no for an answer!

Simply The Best

ANY PROFESSIONAL AT THE HEIGHT OF THEIR INDUSTRY will attest that staying on top of one’s game is a constant struggle. The climb to the summit is difficult to be sure; but remaining there is just as onerous. As one of the world’s foremost luxury manufacturers, Bentley understands these inherent requirements and responsibilities. Though the brand has been synonymous with opulence for over a century, every year demands evolution—be it incremental or groundbreaking. 2024 brings the former.

The latest Continental GT and Flying Spur introduce subtle updates and options that will nonetheless delight customers demanding the ultimate blend of style and performance.

Both models are adorned with new grilles to freshen their faces. The Flying Spur receives a classic Bentley Matrix pattern while the Continental GT trades its own for a vertical waterfall. New 22-inch wheel designs are available for the Continental’s Azure iteration, while the Speed model is blessed with dark gray exterior trim and an optional dark-tint aluminum grille. Plush wool floor mats are standard across the range and a brand-new A trim incorporates cues from the Azure.

To build your personal 2024 Flying Spur or Continental GT, contact your Bentley Palm Beach client advisor, or visit BentleyPalmBeach.com.

The Speed Edition 12 tops the Continental GT range and is available as a coupe or convertible. This limited-run spec serves as a celebratory curtain call of the iconic W12 engine.

The Flying Spur Speed package also features optional granite exterior trim. This provides a new yet no less aggressive look compared to the prior black-line finish. The gargantuan sedan envelopes its passengers in a quilted 3-dimensional diamond pattern throughout the leather upholstery.

The pinnacle of the lineup also makes use of the wonderful, though doomed 626-horsepower W12.

Finally, the Topaz Blue hue makes its debut among the available color palette; a shade which matches the crystal clear and inviting waters of the nearby Bahamas.

In total, the 2024 Flying Spur and Continental GT are more than the sum of their changes. Even amid the cutthroat luxury vehicle market, this is more than enough to carry the day.

The Gilded Age

Travel back in time to an era of opulence, grandeur and splendor. Whitehall, the winter home of Henry Flagler will take you back to a bygone era and show the innovations Mr. Flagler brought to South Florida.

Heading onto the grounds of the Flagler Museum felt like you were traveling back to a time that only would exist today in movies or tv. The spirit of shows like Downton Abbey or Bridgerton seem to resonate through the walls. And for a good reason.

Henry Flagler was a railroad baron, purchasing the Jackson

ville, St. Augustine & Halifax River Railroads, which were the precursor to the Florida East Coast Railroad, which eventually linked the Florida mainland to Key West. As part of the railroads, Flagler also was a major owner of hotels. He started with the Hotel Ponce de Leon and two others in St Augustine, and then moved south to Palm Beach, where he

was the builder of the Royal Poinciana Hotel as well as The Breakers Hotel.

Whitehall, the Flagler's winter home, was constructed on Brelsford Point, situated on the eastern bank of Lake Worth with Flagler's Hotel Royal Poinciana located to the north and The Breakers Hotel to the east.

In March 30, 1902, a story in

the New York Herald described Whitehall as, "More wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world..." Mr. Flagler built the 75-room, 100,000-square-foot mansion, as a gift for his wife, Mary Lily Kenan Flagler. The couple used the home as a winter retreat from 1902 until Henry Flagler's death in 1913, establishing the Palm Beach season for the wealthy of the period.

Mr. Flagler commissioned the same architects responsible for his Hotel Ponce de Leon in St. Augustine, John Carrere and Thomas Hastings, to design Whitehall. Carrère and Hastings, each trained at the École des BeauxArts in Paris, and were practitioners of the Beaux Arts style of

architecture made popular at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. These architects also collaborated on the design for other landmarks of the time such as the New York Public Library and the Fifth Avenue mansion of Henry Clay Frick.

Carrère and Hastings designed the exterior of Whitehall, the interior layout and completely controlled the design of the marble entrance hall and its grand double staircase. The façade of Whitehall is marked by massive marble columns and topped with a red barrel tiled roof. Built around a central courtyard, the house consists of two floors, an attic, and a basement. Besides the grand public rooms on the first floor, there are twelve guestrooms, house servants rooms on the west side

of the second floor, and guests servants rooms in the attic along the east side. Also included were a pantry and kitchen as well as private offices for Mr. Flagler and his secretary.

Each winter season, the Flaglers enjoyed entertaining at Whitehall. When Henry Flagler died in 1913, the house remained closed until the season of 1916. Mary Lily visited the home only once more in 1917 as the recent bride of Robert Worth Bingham. When Mary Lily died later that year, Whitehall was left to her niece, Louise Clisby Wise Lewis.

Ms. Lewis sold Whitehall to a group of investors who added an eleven-story 250+ bedroom tower on the west side and converted the entire structure into a hotel. The area off Whitehall's back

porch, originally dedicated to a formal garden, became the dining room of the new Whitehall Hotel. The hotel operated from 1925-1959 during which period the original portion of the house was used for lobbies, card rooms, lounges, a bar and guest suites.

In 1959, the entire building was in danger of being razed. Henry Flagler's granddaughter, Jean Flagler Matthews learned of this and formed a nonprofit corporation, the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, to purchase the property in 1959. The following year, Whitehall was opened to the public with a grand "Restoration Ball" on February 6, 1960.

When Whitehall was opened to the public in 1960, the Hotel tower was removed and the atrium garden was restored. Though

the grounds today are somewhat informal and therefore more or less in keeping with the architects' original vision, the driveway that was added during the Hotel Era remains, and the Cocoanut Grove was restored in summer 2015.

Henry Flagler's private Railcar No. 91 is on display in the Museum's Flagler Kenan Pavilion. Built in 1886 for Flagler's personal use, the railcar was acquired by the Museum in 1959 as an artifact of Florida history and an important part of Flagler's story. In 1967, much research was done to restore Railcar No. 91 to its appearance during Flagler's day. The interior and exterior of Railcar No. 91 car have been restored to the original 1912 appearance, when Flagler traveled by this railcar along the Over-Sea Railroad

to celebrate this phenomenal engineering feat and the completion of the FEC Railway from St. Augustine to Key West.

The Flagler family was very philanthropic, with the giving of the Hotel Ponce de Leon to what is now Flagler College in St. Augustine. The family is also a major benefactor to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where the School of Business is named after the Flagler family.

Today, nearly 100,000 people from around the world visit the Flagler Museum each year. For more information about visiting Whitehall and tours, check out www.flaglermuseum.us/history/ whitehall

A Unique Blend of Wellness and Brew

Southern Salt & Coffee Co., a new business in Ft. Pierce, has opened a unique concept with two different ways to treat yourself.

Typically, you would pair sugar with coffee but in this case, it is salt. Yes, that’s right. Southern Salt & Coffee has introduced a new combination of two delightful treats that will take care of your mind, body, and overall wellness while satisfying your taste buds.

Owner Laura Barnes started her salt spa and took notice of how clients continuously brought coffee and pastries along with

them to their appointments. The businesswoman in her thought to herself, "How can I combine this wonderful, self-care spa treatment and the decadent treat of specialty brewed coffee?"  After being open for 6 years in Port St. Lucie, she and her husband decided to take a leap of faith to relocate their spa and open their new business concept in their hometown of Fort Pierce. The transformation of their new loca-

tion took 14 months to complete. With the specialty coffee industry continuing to grow in popularity with consumers, Laura was excited to jump on the coffee trend to offer clients high-quality coffee with a unique atmosphere to sit and enjoy their perfectly brewed beverage. Today, coffee connoisseurs are seeking organic coffee with unique flavors and experiences and that is exactly what clients can expect to receive

at this new, local gem.   Southern Salt & Coffee does not add salt to coffee but instead offers salt therapy. What is salt therapy? Halotherapy, or salt therapy, involves breathing in air with tiny salt particles to improve your breathing. Halotherapy is considered an alternative treatment for lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, and cough. This therapy can also help you relax and may help with skin conditions and allergies. The practice of Halotherapy dates back to the 12th century when the practice of visiting salt caves was common in Eastern Europe. In the 1800s, salt miners in Poland found a more modern version of what’s now halotherapy. Despite working in mines all day, the Polish miners didn’t

experience respiratory health issues and were unusually healthy. They weren’t likely to get the colds or coughs that were common among others. Research showed that the salty air the miners breathed in helped keep their lungs free from infection and allergies. Over time, Eastern European salt mines and caves became popular tourist destinations with people from all over the world visiting to inhale the salty air seeking relief for lung conditions.

What are some of the benefits of a salt room? How does the salt get absorbed into the body? The rooms are referred to as an Active Salt Room. What makes it Active? The room has a machine called a halogenerator. Salt is added to this machine and the

device breaks down the salt into tiny particles that circulate in the room. These adult-only Active rooms contain both a salt wall and floor and comfortable recliners for clients to relax as they are enjoying their session.

Adults are not the only ones that can benefit from a salt room.

Southern Salt & Coffee has a dedicated playroom for your children to play in an indoor sandbox where they can have fun playing in the salt while benefiting from the halotherapy.

Southern Salt & Coffee welcomes all wellness and coffee enthusiasts. They are open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, or to book a treatment, call (772) 801-5500.

STYLE + BEAUTY | SKINCARE TRENDS

Skin Mimimalism is In

In this era of self-love, skincare has been a top trend in 2024, and will continue to be a top wellness topic. CDM's beauty team talks about trending skincare & beauty topics and those you can expect to see in 2025 and beyond.

Makeup

Move over contour sticks; natural is in

The natural look is a timeless trend, emphasizing less makeup and healthy skin for a glowing complexion. Instead of caking on foundation and making their skin appear as blurred with Instagram filters, consumers are opting in for tinted moisturizers or BB creams with high-quality ingredients that provide essential nutrients and protection. Light blush/bronzer, natural mascara, and tinted lip oils help complete the natural look.

“Brands are recognizing that consumers want to see real results, as well as use ingredients they feel are safe,” says Ron Robinson, a cosmetic chemist and the founder of BeautyStat.

Tinted moisturizers offer a lightweight alternative to heavy foundations, allowing skin to breathe and reducing the risk of clogged pores and breakouts. By providing just enough coverage, it also helps even out skin tone while keeping the skin looking fresh and dewy. Substantial products rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and hydrating ingredients nourish the skin from within, promoting long-term health and resilience.

BB creams (also known as Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm) offer a light-to-medium coverage while moisturizing the face. They generally have sunscreen in the formula, so protection from the sun is also in the mix, and they are often formulated with beneficial skincare ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins, and anti-aging compounds.

Benefits of Skin Wellness

Our skin is our largest organ, and how we treat it forms the foundation of everything.

Our skin is our largest organ, and how we treat it forms the foundation of everything. Over the years, the way we care for our skin has evolved significantly. Today, the beauty industry offers innovative solutions that effectively remove impurities while nourishing your skin. This demonstrates the ongoing effort to improve skin health and appearance through more effective and refined techniques.

Consumers are shifting towards products that enhance their nat-

ural features, prioritizing skin health over concealing imperfections. This approach leads to a more youthful and radiant look while encouraging a sustainable and mindful beauty regimen.

Exosomes are a new brauty trend promising radiant skin and regenerative and anti-imflammatory benefits.

Some of the trending looks in skincare are: Glass Skin (AKA Dewy). This is the most popular look for a healthy and glowing skin complexion. The Glazed

Doughnut Skin is the glossier version of Glass Skin for those seeking the look of ultimate hydration. Cloud Skin is for those who do not want to feel too oily but do not want the matte look.

Skincare is about self-care, confidence, and overall wellness. The movement towards natural beauty aligns with the broader wellness and self-care movement, emphasizing feeling and looking good holistically.

CDM’s Top Facial Pick: Hydrafacial.

In a class of its own, this medical-grade, non-invasive facial treatment can be performed only using a specialized wand-like device. This facial involves 3 main steps – Cleansing, Exfoliation, and Hydration of the skin. You can also customize the treatment according to your skin concerns. This facial is safe and effective and can provide many benefits including reduced sunspot appearance and collagen production stimulation which can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines over time. HydraFacial’s can be used for the face, lips & eyes, scalp, and body areas such as the neck & décolleté, back, hands, arms, thighs, and buttocks to cleanse, extract, and give the skin a radiant glow.

Remember how great you felt when you were 18? Your mind was clear, your attitude carefree, and you were ready to take on the world. You were motivated and full of enthusiasm.. You were bursting with energy, and were far stronger, leaner, and mentally sharper than you are now. You wish you had that back, right? Who doesn’t? What happened to all that vim and vigor?

Life happened. While we cannot prevent the body from aging, we can thwart the process to some degree. While there is undoubtedly a genetic component to aging, it is likely related to the accumulation of metabolic by-products within our cells, much like oil residue within our car’s cylinders. Everything you do puts mileage on the odometer. That’s why aging is inescapable! But good nutrition and foods loaded with antioxidants will quench those free radicals formed during meals, hindering the aging process. Exercise also bolsters antioxidant status. Exercise not only makes you look

great but feel great, likely due to its direct effect on one’s neurotransmitter levels and the restoration of more youthful hormone profile. But over time, and despite your best efforts, hormone levels often decrease leading to a variety of issues that are ascribed to ‘just getting old.’ But there’s a solution: Hormone Replacement Therapy or HRT.

When Should a Woman Start HRT?

One of the first questions I often hear is, "When should I start HRT?" Generally, women should begin considering HRT when they start experiencing menopausal symptoms, which typically

occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. However, it's not just about age; it's about the symptoms and how they affect your quality of life. Some women might need to start earlier or later, depending on their unique situations. It’s crucial to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the best timing for you. I often start my younger patients on bioidentical progesterone in isolation to combat insomnia, elevate mood and minimize menstrual irregularities that often begin between ages 35 and 40. Remember, progesterone – not estrogen, as is commonly believed – is the first hormone to decrease as you approach menopause.

Recognizing the Need for HRT: Symptoms to Watch For

How do you know if you should consider HRT? Menopause brings a variety of symptoms, and some can be quite disruptive. Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, vaginal dryness, and even decreased bone density are common signs that might suggest the need for HRT. If these symptoms are significantly impacting your daily life, it might be time to have a conversation with your doctor about HRT. As alluded to above though, many women develop symptoms of hormone deficiency in their mid-30’s. And these symptoms may be more subtle, so a high index of suspicion is key.

Monitoring Hormone Levels: The Role of Blood Work

Once you decide to start HRT, monitoring your hormone levels is an essential part of the process. Blood work is typically done before starting HRT to establish a baseline. After beginning treatment, follow-up blood tests are usually recommended every 3 to 6 months to ensure your hormone levels are where they need to be and to make any necessary adjustments to your therapy. This monitoring can be tailored based on your individual response and any side effects you might experience.

Choosing the Right Facility for HRT

Selecting the right facility for HRT is a crucial step. You want to ensure that you're in good hands. Here are some tips to help you make the best choice:

• Qualifications and Experience: Look for healthcare providers who are experienced in managing menopause and HRT. Your physician must be Board-Certified in his or her chosen profession and should have a secondary certification from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).

• Comprehensive Care: Find facilities that offer a holistic approach, including lifestyle and dietary ad-

Dr. Osborn's staff at Senolytix

LIFESTYLE + HOME | HEALTH & WELLNESS

vice alongside HRT. Steer clear of ‘hormone clinics,’ therefore. Many are operated by non-qualified individuals without a medical license – and unbeknownst to the patients.

• Reputation and Reviews: Check reviews and seek recommendations from other patients.

• Personalized Treatment: Opt for a facility that tailors the treatment plan to your specific needs and monitors your progress closely. HRT must be ‘customized’ to you – in the context of your goals. Remember, your biochemistry is different than your girlfriend’s. HRT is not a one-size, fits-all.

The Benefits of Starting HRT Early

Many women wonder if starting HRT earlier can help ease the transition through menopause. The answer is often yes. Beginning HRT during the perimenopausal phase can manage symptoms more effectively, potentially leading to a smoother transition. HRT can reduce the severity of menopausal symptoms, giving much-needed relief and improving your quality of life.

The Benefits of HRT

HRT offers a range of benefits that can make a significant difference in your daily life:

• Symptom Relief: HRT can be used to alleviate common menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and vaginal dryness.

• Improved Sleep Quality: By reducing night sweats and other disruptive symptoms, HRT can help improve your sleep.

• Enhanced Quality of Life: Many women find that HRT helps stabilize their mood and overall sense of well-being.

• Bone Health: HRT can prevent osteoporosis and reduce the risk of fractures.

• Potential Cancer Risk Reduction: Some studies suggest that HRT may reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Understanding the Risks and Side Effects of HRT

While HRT has many benefits, it's also important to be aware of the potential risks and side effects. Some of the risks include:

• Blood Clots and Stroke: HRT can increase the risk of blood clots and stroke; however, this is typically associated with the use of synthetic, non-bioidentical hormones. Synthetic preparations are, therefore, are never used in my longevity clinic. This similarly applies to breast cancer.

• Breast Cancer: Long-term use of synthetic HRT has been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer according to the WHI study. Again, this does not apply to those using bioidentical hormones to which your body has been exposed since menarche. Else, there would be a very high incidence of breast cancer in teenagers – when hormone levels are peaking.

• Side Effects: Some women experience side effects such as bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and mood changes. These side effects can be minimized and/

or easily managed by an experienced physician.

It's essential to weigh these risks against the benefits and discuss them with your healthcare provider to make an informed decision that suits your health needs and lifestyle.

Conclusion:

Making the Decision

Deciding whether to start HRT is a personal choice and one that should be made with thorough understanding and professional guidance. As you consider your options, remember that your physician and healthcare team is there to help you navigate this process, answer your questions, and tailor a plan that works best for you.

HRT can be a powerful tool in managing the symptoms of menopause and improving your quality of life. By staying informed and working closely with your healthcare team - who should not only be routinely interacting with you during your healthcare journey but also checking bloodwork several times throughout the yearyou can make the best decision for your health and well-being. Summarily speaking, HRT carries with it low risk and potentially can prove transformative to your health and quality of life.

STRETCH for Success

Maximize the results of your workouts by incorporating these pre and post workout stretches into your fitness routine.

Making the time to squeeze in workouts is something that many of us struggle with so we often skip the necessary time to do our pre and post workout stretches. Making the time to incorporate both pre and post workout s tretches are key to your fitness and health routine goals.

Because we understand that life is hectic, we have outlined a few key stretches to add into your daily fitness routine that will add value to your goals and only take 5 to 10 minutes for a proper warm up and cool down.

If you experience pain while stretching, it is recommended you stop the movement immediately, and seek a medical professional.

LIFESTYLE + HOME | STRETCH FOR SUCCESS

Dynamic moves are better for your warm-up stretch routine because they are active movements that take the muscles and joints through a wider range of motion and warms up the body. The goal of dynamic stretching is to increase muscle temperature and reduce stiffness to improve performance and prevent injury. When correctly performed, dynamic stretches can improve strength, speed and agility to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Add in these five recommended Dynamic stretch movements prior to your workout. Complete two or three rounds of 10 repetitions of each movement for your warm up!

1. Squats

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Point toes slightly out, engage your core, bend your knees and push your hips back as you squat down until your thighs are parallel with the ground. Keep your chest up and hold your hands straight in front.

2. High Knees

Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Maintaining straight posture, lift one knee to your chest, rapidly switching legs. Engage your core as you switch from leg to leg at a jogging pace.

3. Arm Circles

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Extend your arms out to the side, parallel with the floor. Circle your arms forward using small, controlled movements. Gradually increase the size of the circles until you feel a stretch in your triceps. Then, reverse the direction of your circles.

4. Jumping Jacks

Begin standing straight with your legs together and arms flat at your sides. Bend your knees slightly and jump into the air, spreading your legs shoulder-width apart and stretching your arms out and over your head. Jump to return back to starting position and repeat.

5. Butt Kicks

Start standing straight with your feet hip-width apart and your arms at your side. Bring the heel of one foot off the floor towards your glutes and raise the opposite hand up towards your shoulder as if you were running. Then, rapidly switch to the other side. Keep your shoulders back and core active.

LIFESTYLE + HOME | STRETCH FOR SUCCESS

Stretching after a workout is equally important. Static stretches after a workout help to move lactic acid out of muscles, decrease soreness and gradually slow down the body. These types of stretches can also help blood flow return to a regulated pace. Static stretching involves stretches that are held for a period of time depending on ability. Usually between 10-60 seconds. These stretches are still and do not involve any movement.

We recommend you try some of the following stretches in your post-workout routine. You don’t have to stretch every muscle, but you should stretch the muscles that are tight from your workout. While stretching, you will feel a slight pull with a little discomfort, but not pain. If possible, hold each stretch for 30-60 seconds. Add in these five recommended Static Stretch Movements after your workout.

1. Shoulder Stretch

Stand straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bring your right arm across the front of your body at chest height. Using the crease of your left arm or hand, support your right arm. Stretch your shoulder while facing forward. Hold then repeat with your other arm.

2. Toe Touch

Stand straight with your feet slightly apart. Point toes forward. Keeping your legs straight, bend from the hips and reach down toward your toes. Keep your core engaged.

LIFESTYLE + HOME |

3. Butterfly Stretch

Start by sitting on the floor with your back straight and knees bent. Drop your legs to your sides and bring the soles of your feet together. Grasping at either your feet or ankles, slowly lean forward, keeping your back straight. Place your elbows on your thighs and press down gently for the stretch.

4. Quadriceps Stretch

Stand straight with your legs together and knees touching. While standing on one leg, raise your opposite foot using your hand towards your glutes. Hold then repeat, switching legs. You may use a wall to hold yourself steady for balance if needed.

Sushi by Bou

400 Ave of the Champions, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418

Omakase lovers rejoice.

Sushi by Bou has found its Palm Beach County home at PGA National Resort and Spa. This timed, one-hour omakase experience is a luxurious way to dine, seated at the chef’s counter watching each piece come to life. In the true fashion of omakase, meaning “I leave it up to you” or “I trust you, chef,” the menu is prefixed and discovered in real time. Diners can upgrade to the “Bougie” experience to extend their stay and increase the number of pieces.

there is also a selection of sakes to choose from. Fashioned after a Gatsby-era speakeasy, the vibe

Guests enter a transportive sweetheart lounge to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail while the chefs prepare for an open sushi bar performance. Their craft cocktails include the Shiso Southsider, Roku Martini, Ginger Highball, among others while

is sultry with rich tones, crystal chandeliers and gold elements. The bar takes center stage in the intimate space with communal seating for the entirety of the group.

While the overall atmosphere is

guided by fellow diners, the chefs work meticulously while also entertaining their guests with their knife skills, torches, and presentation. Expect an energetic and engaging evening with plenty of laughs and excitement. While the dinner menu is fluid, the traditional nigiri and sashimi offerings include Hamachi yellowtail, Akami tuna, Ikura salmon roe, Unagi eel, Hotate scallop, and more. A la carte items are also available to build upon the set meal. Due to the dynamics of the dining room and menu, even frequenters can look forward to a unique experience with each visit.

Coastal Mediterranean

Step through the doors of Tequesta’ NiMo and into the vibes of a coastal Mediterranean bistro. Salmon striped banquettes, casual European artwork, and floating rattan pendant lighting

create an inviting aesthetic inside while a vibrant mural, greenery wall, lounge and bistro seating, and natural elements give the covered patio the essence of a garden cafe. Part of the Feal Hospitality family of restaurants which includes Erba, Orno and Ghee, NiMo is a newer concept by co-owners Chef Niven Patel and Mohamed Alkassar, which together make “NiMo”.

The space offers a variety of seating options, including both indoor and outdoor access to the centerpiece bar. A louvered pergola roof allows year round enjoyment of the patio regardless of the weather. Steady house music beats throughout, creating a laidback ambiance with the lights dimming as the evening progresses.

The cuisine is indicative of its owners’ backgrounds, with Mo having grown up along the Mediterranean Sea between Syria and Spain. The menu reflects inspiration from Spain, Greece, and Syria with a nod to Chef Niven’s time in Italy.

The wood fired oven produces inventive pizzas alongside flavorful dishes like the Wood Roasted Meatball served with whipped ricotta and Aioli sourdough bread. Fresh ingredients can be found throughout the menu, many locally sourced.

For those looking to imbibe the craft cocktail menu features classics like an Espresso Martini alongside the NiMorita, a Cosmo Soda, and Man-

dole Old Fashioned with a tequila base. You will also find local crafts beers on tap as well as a global wine list.

Guests can enjoy happy hour from 4-6pm daily, with a selection of food and drink specials. Plus keep an eye out for culinary experiences like Sunday Brunch featuring sweet and savory brunch items and bottomless mimosas as well as globally influenced dinners like their 5-course Taste of Spain.

A South Florida native, I was born in Miami and raised in Palm Beach. I attended the University of Florida before moving to Charlotte, NC for a few years. During this time the county boomed with new developments popping up. When I returned, I began @EatPalmBeach as a way to rediscover my hometown while supporting local businesses. People gather around food and beverage, so the dining scene was the perfect introduction to new communities, restaurants, and talent. The culinary offerings have exploded over the past decade, but here are a few of my “must sees” when crossing the county line.
