BANKTECH TO PROVIDE TAB DIGITAL CUSTOMERS WITH FREE ATM DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWALS
- Media Release -
Banktech, Australia’s leading independent ATM deployer, has announced a partnership with Tabcorp that allows TAB customers to deposit and withdraw cash from their account via the ATM Plus network.
Banktech owns and manages more than 2,600 CashConnect ATMs across Australia, primarily in pubs and clubs. These are currently being upgraded to their new “ATM Plus” service which will include both a note acceptor and barcode scanner.
TAB customers will be able to deposit or withdraw from their account by scanning their digital TAB account card, or physical TAB card at an ATM Plus terminal.
ATM Plus will help turn the TAB into a self-service operation and promises a simple service to punters, lower operating costs to the venue.
“We’re excited to add another avenue for our customers to deposit and withdraw into their TAB accounts. Banktech's CashConnect ATM Plus network services will be exclusive to TAB account customers in TAB venues. It is just another service that Tabcorp is providing to its customers while simultaneously supporting our TAB venues.
“This is especially exciting for our next-generation, non-cash betting Digital Retail venues. Banktech’s CashConnect ATMs will allow them to offer a cash deposit and withdrawal option, in a non-traditional TAB that is powered by Venue Mode on the TAB App.” Bernadette McLoughlin, General Manager Oncourse & Wagering Operations – TAB.
The response from TAB venues seeking to offer the new ATM Plus service has been remarkable. According to Henry Kiwarkis, General Manager Sales, Banktech has already signed up more than 1,600 ATMs to deliver the new TAB functionality.
Tabcorp Chief Operating Officer Paul Carew said the partnership was another step in the transformation of the company.
“At TAB, we’re customer obsessed in everything we do and this partnership provides more optionality to suit the needs of our customers,’’ he said.
“We’re in the midst of a digital transformation. We’ve launched new products and we are innovating our retail network. This is another step in that journey and importantly, it provides a safe option for our customers.”
ClubsACT CLUBSACTION JULY 23 5
Banktech built ATM Plus to be “the bridge between cash and digital payments” says Kiwarkis and delivering TAB services is another important step in developing fully integrated digital solutions for venues.
Banktech is currently upgrading the CashConnect ATM fleet to deliver the TAB services.

CLUBSACT REPORT
ClubsACT Calls for a True National Standard for RSA Qualifications
Arising out of the ashes of the COVID lockdown periods, ClubsACT members were faced with a diminished employment environment creating significant capacity issue for employers seeking skilled, job-ready workers. These issues prompted ClubsACT to embark on a very direct role in working to enhance the employment pool in the ACT through Jobtrainer training programs we embarked on with the Canberra Institute of Technology and SPARK Gininderry.
Unfortunately, through this period, we also identified a significant impediment to the free movement or hospitality workers across Australian jurisdictions and most specifically across the Eastern Seaboard. The failure of the national recognition of competencies to effectively allow the free movement of trained
workers across jurisdictions has highlighted a major failing with the national Responsible Service of Alcohol qualifications.
As it stands today, there is no national consistency in the RSA qualification and in the case of NSW there is an additional bridging unit they require to be done if your RSA is derived from a jurisdiction other than NSW.
ClubsACT is seeking to work with the ACT, NSW and Federal Government to seek a resolution to this issue and we hope that this very simple issue can be resolved reasonably quickly. We are seeking ClubsAustralia’s support for a standardized 5yr RSA qualification that is recognized nationally with no additional units added to it. It is ridiculous that we can create a national Award system and yet allow vocational training qualifications to be an impediment to the free movement of employees across State and Territory border.

ClubsACT and SPARK Ginninderry Jobtrainer Graduation
Sadly after two successful years working jointly with SPARK Ginninderry our ongoing collaboration with them is winding up for the time being. We have recently graduated the last course of successful participants on our joint Jobtrainer training Program and we congratulate all the successful participants for their achievements.
ClubsACT would especially like to thank the Trainers and staff of the CIT and Ginninderry for all their work over the last two years with us. An especially big thanks goes to the Ginninderry organization for working collaboratively with us on this program over the last two years and for the invaluable and dedicated efforts of Emma Sckrabei, Mel Lyons and the team over this period.
ClubsACT will roll out a new program of training in the coming year aimed not only at recruitment level training but also with a strong staff development component. Further details on this will be made available in the coming months.
The industry focus has been on recruitment in the past couple of years as we rebuilt after the COVID lockdowns and going forward we are keen to put an emphasis on staff development and enhancing the skills base across the industry. Recruitment will remain an ongoing priority but as the premium end of the hospitality industry, we are committed to developing and enhancing skills pathways that reward employees and value add the career opportunities within the industry.

Clubs Australia Industrial Workplace Relations and Human Resources Conference
The Clubs Australia Workplace Relations and Human Resources Conference returns to deliver a wealth of knowledge on navigating our post-pandemic world.
With the pandemic behind us, clubs across Australia have had to go back to basics and take a better look at their operations and how their people are coping in this new postpandemic era.
With the workforce leaving for better paid industries, and the cost of living increasing, it is timely to reflect on what impact this is having on our industry and how are we dealing with grievances, mental health and the sometimes-forgotten topic of empowering and recognising the great hardworking staff who are loyal to our clubs.
HR and WR professionals have had to adopt new technologies, cross-train employees due to operational needs, and now master a new raft of ‘once in a generation’ Federal Government industrial relations legislative changes.
With Clubs Australia’s WR&HR Conference being back at Sydney’s ICC this year, rest assured it’s going to be an insightful couple of days! Across 14 and 15 August, there is a stellar line-up of thought-provoking and inspirational speakers planned. Learn from the best legal minds in our industry and discover tools to ensure that we don’t forget our people and their journeys within our clubs.
On Monday, 14 August, Clubs Australia will be hosting a networking event, where you can connect with your peers over canapes and drinks.
This year’s Conference theme is A Brighter Future for Our Clubs and the following topics will be addressed.
A Brighter Future
Keynote speaker Dr Louise Mahler will take us through the inVISIBLE and Missing Ingredient of Leadership.
Moving from the Vienna State Opera back to Australia, Louise observed a missing ingredient in corporate leadership and completed an award-winning PhD around the unsung wisdom of the mind-body-voice connection she named Vocal Intelligence. Louise will help you develop an understanding of your physical and vocal options as an integral part of motivating and inspiring others.
With the age of diversity and inclusion upon us, the time has come to rebalance. Louise will help you find the energy to break down barriers through understanding, clever engagement with hard conversations and the giving of self without fear.
Compelling keynote speaker Simon Kuestenmacher will inspire you with his talk Rebuilding a Better Future.
Simon is a rising star globally in the field of data management and insight. He is the co-founder of The Demographics Group based in Melbourne and is a columnist with The Australian newspaper. Simon will be focusing on
current global socio-demographic trends and how these impact Australians, backed by data and evidence to support his propositions.
Legal Challenges and Changes in Our Industry
Fair Work Commissioner Jennifer Hunt, Thomson Geer Partner Jacquie Seeman, Barrister Dan Fuller and SWAAB Partner Michael Byrnes will provide a comprehensive view on the impact of recent industrial relations legislative decisions and changes; the latest developments, analysis and understanding of best practice employment; and industrial relations approaches. Their presentations will provide workplace relations and HR practitioners with pragmatic, practical guidance on a range of issues.
Culture, Conflict and Mental Health
The WR&HR Conference also features practical presentations covering how to deal with workplace conflict, with a focus on mental health and how prevention through connection is key to helping your employees.
During Leadership Expert Brian Dickinson’s interactive and engaging session, Brian will discuss how to apply the positive mindset, attitudes and approach of highly engaged leaders and teams and will provide some practical tips and ideas to support team members to maintain enthusiasm, energy and resilience.
Lynora Brooke, a Conflict Management and Coaching Consultant from the Resolute Institute, will focus on the heart of the conflict and how it is important to explore areas where people view things differently and how to address this before it becomes protracted, unhealthy conflict.
At this presentation, you will be provided with some tips and guidance on how to deal with conflict and you will participate in activities to support your conflict management. This session will provide you with some appreciation of the skills required to get to the root of the conflict.
Gus Worland from GOTCHA4LIFE will kick-start the conversations around mental fitness with an immersive presentation that engages, educates and empowers individuals and workplaces to build mental health fitness.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE .
It doesn’t matter who the person is or how small, hidden or innocent the behaviour may appear, sexual harassment should be reported every time it occurs.
If someone sexually assaults you at work, you should call the Police immediately on 000. You should report all sexual harassment to your manager, human resources team or WHS representative. When these internal processes fail, you can report your concerns to WorkSafe ACT and our psychosocial team will look into it. You can even report it anonymously.

Psychosocial hazards
Psychosocial hazards are not like physical hazards. They can be much harder to see because they are part of the design or management of work.
What we do see are the outcomes of badly managed psychosocial hazards: bullying, harassment, work-related violence, sexual harassment and assault, work-related stress and psychological injuries.
At WorkSafe ACT, we have a dedicated team of specialist psychosocial inspectors who look at how workplaces prevent and manage psychosocial hazards and risks. From December 2021 to the end of August 2022, the team have completed 600 workplace visits.
Different hazards, same process
In the ACT, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 directs that a person conducting a business or undertaking (PBCU) must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers. This means that the duty holder – the employer in most cases – must protect worker’s physical and psychological health when at work and because of work.
For many workplaces, psychosocial hazards can seem confusing and overwhelming. But remember, even though the hazards are different, the risk management process is the same.
WorkSafe ACT recently developed a comprehensive guide for psychosocial hazards, including a side-by-side comparison of how physical and psychological hazards are assessed and managed. The guide is available at worksafe. act.gov.au by searching “managing psychosocial hazards” or scanning the QR code below.
Sexual harassment and sexual assault
Sexual harassment and sexual assault are a major focus for WorkSafe ACT in 2023 – and always. We’re updating our online resources and undertaking a proactive awareness campaign to make sure that every PCBU in the ACT knows and fulfils their responsibilities. That’s what makes workers safe.
FOR MORE INFORMATION
This campaign comes on the back of legislative changes in the ACT that mean from Friday 9 June 2023, workplace sexual assault incidents are notifiable to WorkSafe ACT. Under the Workplace Legislation Amendment Act 2022, PCBUs have a duty to notify WorkSafe ACT of all reports of sexual assault at the workplace, including suspected incidents.
Sexual assault is not the only thing that should be reported. Workplace sexual harassment is never acceptable.
Sexual harassment isn’t always what you might expect. It might be unwelcome touching, suggestive comments or jokes, sexualised nicknames, intruding into personal space or unwelcome personal questions and comments - in person or online.
It doesn’t matter who the person is or how small, hidden or innocent the behaviour may appear, sexual harassment should be reported every time it occurs. You should report all sexual harassment to your manager, human resources team or WHS representative. If you make a report and the workplace’s internal processes fail, you can report your concerns to WorkSafe ACT, and our Psychosocial team will look into it. You can even report it anonymously.
Managing the risks of work-related sexual harassment means taking a proactive approach. This involves providing a safe physical and online work environment, providing safe work systems and procedures and implementing workplace behaviour policies and practices that promote respectful and inclusive workplace culture. It also means addressing unwanted or offensive behaviour early, encouraging workers to report sexual harassment and providing safe, confidential and clear avenues to do so, including anonymous reporting. Safe Work Australia has developed a great guide for helping PCBUs to prevent work-related sexual harassment.
To read the guide, head to safeworkaustralia.gov.au and search “Preventing workplace sexual harassment”.
For resources, guides and examples on anything contained in this article, head to the “Psychosocial Hazards” section of worksafe.act.gov.au by scanning the QR code. You can also find out more by visiting safeworkaustralia.gov.au.
> From 9 June 2023, PCBUs must report workplace sexual assault incidents to WorkSafe ACT .
> If any person experiences or witnesses sexual assault, they should notify ACT Policing on 131 444, or 000 if it is an emergency.
> WorkSafe ACT can be contacted on 13 22 81. Operating hours are 8:30AM to 4:30PM Mon-Fri and 9:00AM to 4:30PM Weekends & Public Holidays. General enquiries can also be sent to worksafe@worksafe.act.gov.au

How much money do you need to retire?
While $1 million is often thrown around as the financial retirement ideal, the truth is there’s no one-size-fits-all amount.
At some stage most Australians will ask themselves how much they really need to retire. And while having a 7-figure amount in super may sound great, the reality is most people won’t have anywhere near that amount.

Just remember the exact amount will vary from one person to the next.
How much do you need to retire?
Start by thinking about what a comfortable retirement looks like to you. Will you want to travel?
Is dining out a regular thing? And what about hobbies or interests?
Once you better understand your ideal future lifestyle you can start to work out how much money you may need to retire.

KENO’S SECOND CHANCE DRAW STILL A DRAWCARD
Keno’s Second Chance Draw remains a popular drawcard for players, offering more chances to win and boosting customer engagement with the product.
Keno’s Second Chance Draw continues to give customers another chance to win, with five players pocketing a $1,000 cash prize each month.
This ongoing promotion remains a strong draw card for Keno customers, as well as a great way to enhance customer engagement with the product in your club.
In April, there were 75,800 entries into the Second Chance Draw, with more than 7,000 unique entries.
Over the last eight months of the promotion, there were more than 585,000 entries across ACT, NSW, and Queensland retail venues.
During this time, Keno celebrated with the 45 winning customers, who each took home $1,000 in cash prizes.
While almost all Second Chance Draw winners were surprised to receive a call from Keno advising them of their win, the ways in which customers planned to spend their cash prizes were very different. These included using it for holiday spending money and plumbing of their new home.
Your club can enhance its ticket sales by actively telling customers about the promotion and displaying the Point of Sale marketing tools available on Keno Connect.

CELEBRATING LEN AINSWORTH ON HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY
This month marks a momentous occasion as we celebrate the extraordinary life of Len Ainsworth AM who has reached the remarkable milestone of his 100th birthday. A visionary and pioneer, Mr Ainsworth is recognised around the world as a true icon of the gaming industry whose contributions have shaped the gaming landscape as we see it today.
Born in Kempsey, NSW Australia on July 11th 1923, Leonard Hastings Ainsworth possessed an insatiable curiosity and an unyielding determination to carve a path in the world. Originally commencing his working life manufacturing and supplying dental equipment, he envisaged and pursued the development of gaming equipment where his legacy in the gaming industry began.
In 1953, Mr Ainsworth founded Aristocrat Leisure Industries which became one of the world’s largest gaming companies. Following a 1984 diagnosis of prostate cancer, Mr Ainsworth transferred his ownership in Aristocrat to his family to ensure his legacy continued into the future. However, following a clear diagnosis thereafter, he knew he had more to offer the industry he fell in love with, so in 1995, he founded his second gaming company Ainsworth Game Technology. Mr Ainsworth dedicated his career to creating innovative, cutting-edge gaming solutions that would revolutionise the way people engage with slot machines and other gaming products.
On his 100th birthday Mr. Ainsworth would like to express his gratitude for the success he has enjoyed and the support he received from his family, friends, and many colleagues.
“I feel privileged to have reached this milestone and to have seen how the gaming industry has evolved and flourished over the years. I have been fortunate in establishing a worldwide reputation for quality equipment that continues to lead the field and that pleases me to no end. I have worked with many great people along the way, without them none of it would be possible.” said Mr Ainsworth.
Beyond his remarkable professional achievements, Mr Ainsworth's understands the profound responsibility that comes with success and made it a priority to give back. A passionate philanthropist he established the Ainsworth Foundation which generously supports the Australian community most notably in medical research, education, healthcare, and various other social causes, leaving an enduring impact on countless lives. “Personally, I’m most proud that my good fortune enables me to support so many worthwhile causes” he said.
ClubsACT CLUBSACTION JULY 23 23
Mr Ainsworth's legacy extends far beyond his business endeavours and philanthropy. He embodied the qualities of a true leader inspiring those around him, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. His mentoring and guidance have shaped the careers of numerous industry professionals who continue to carry his vision forward.
Danny Gladstone, Chairman, Ainsworth Game Technology said, “I started my career in the gaming industry 50 years ago working for Len. It was a privilege to then have the opportunity to work with him again 16 years ago at Ainsworth and build on his legacy. He is a true icon globally and our industry would not be what it is without him. I wish him all the very best on his 100th birthday.”
This month, as we celebrate Mr Ainsworth's 100th birthday, we honour a man whose impact extends far beyond his years, and his vision will continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come. Mr Ainsworth's commitment to excellence, and innovation serves as a blueprint for success in business and life.
“On behalf of the entire Ainsworth Game Technology family and the gaming industry, we extend our warmest wishes to Len on this momentous occasion," said Harald Neumann, CEO Ainsworth Game Technology. "His unwavering dedication, innovative spirit, and outstanding leadership have been instrumental in shaping our company and the industry as a whole. We are grateful for his profound contributions and are inspired to continue his legacy of excellence."
Mr Ainsworth will be celebrating at home with his family. A message board has been created for all those wishing to congratulate him on this milestone - Celebrating Len Ainsworth
