CRICKHOWELL’S
CL ARENCE HALL NEWSLETTER & WHAT’S ON Message from our Chairman, Dean Christy
A busy 2023 ahead! 2023 is shaping up to be a busy year for the Clarence Hall!
As we enter an exciting year for the Clarence Hall with our redevelopment project now underway, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our friends and supporters a Happy and healthy New Year. Particular thanks are due to all those who have donated to our charity to help us deliver what the community told us they wanted.
The rst few months see local legends Ryland Wallace and John Webb presenting a fascinating talk on Crickhowell 1952-1970 - the recollections of two lifelong inhabitants; Crickhowell & District Players taking to stage with Aladdin, a traditional pantomime for all the family; Theatre Adhoc performing a new Welsh Valleys Comedy ‘Whose coat’s that jacket?’ by Abertillery playwright Julia Lewis; and the return of the Black Mountains Comedy Festival, showcasing a mix of well-known comedians and rising stars as well as a Saturday full of fun for families.
I would also like to express my sincere thanks to my fellow Trustees of the Clarence Hall, as well as all the other volunteers who have freely given their time to support us in so many ways. Without their assistance we would not be where we are now.
All this, alongside our regular Lunchtime Recital Programme, Bingo evenings, Persian rug sales, ESOL classes, U3A meetings, Dance Beats classes and Crickhowell Choral and Cantorion Phoenix rehearsals.
Although enormous progress has been made, there is still a lot to do, but we are determined to realise our vision for the Clarence Hall for the bene t of the community.
Work is also continuing on the Hall’s redevelopment, with the initial focus on the new multifunction entrance. Keep an eye out for posters, social media updates and the What’s On page of our website to nd out more.
