CL ARENCE HALL
NEWSLETTER & WHAT’S ON
A sparkling season ahead!
Christmas at the Clarence is shaping up to be one of our busiest and most festive yet. From concerts and comedy to community meetings, workshops, wellness sessions, fairs, a visit from Santa and even wrestling, the Hall is full of life this season.
We begin with Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau’s much-loved Christmas Fair and Santa’s Grotto — always a joyful way to start the season.
Music runs right through the month, from a Christmas concert with Ebbw Valley Brass to a magical Musical Piano Journey into Winter Wonderland, performed by talented young musicians, a fundraising evening for Cancer Research Crickhowell featuring the rich harmonies of Dowlais Male Choir, an uplifting performance from Uskulele and Cantorion Phoenix, and a concert from Abergavenny Borough Band and Gilwern Primary School Choir

Our community groups are at the heart of the programme too. Crickhowell U3A meets early in December for its monthly meeting and AGM, the Luncheon Club gathers for its Christmas meal and the Clarence Hall has its AGM.
Alongside its usual programme of social events, the Volunteer Bureau is co-ordinating this year’s Santa Appeal, collecting gifts to brighten Christmas for children who may otherwise go without.
For those looking for something a little different, December also includes a Persian Rug Sale, a festive matinee from Kitsch n Sync and Black Mountains Comedy Festival, a traditional Carol Service with Christ Church Crickhowell and a family-friendly afternoon with British Kingdom Pro Wrestling to round off the year with energy and fun.
With something for everyone, this festive season offers plenty of reasons to visit the Clarence Hall. More details are available on our noticeboards, on social media and our website.
Some of the events coming up at Clarence Hall

Christmas Fair & Santa’s Grotto
Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau is gearing up for a day of celebrations on Saturday, 29 November, with a festive programme centred around the Clarence Hall and shops across the town.
Santa will arrive in Crickhowell at 9.30am, before settling into his grotto at the Clarence Hall from 10am–3pm. The Christmas Fair will run alongside the grotto from 10am–4pm, with stalls, refreshments and plenty of seasonal cheer. Families can also enjoy jewellery-making at the Crystal Shop in Latte-Da and gingerbread decorating at the Dragon Inn. Throughout the day, children can join the hunt for Santa’s nine reindeer hidden in shops around town.
There’s also a full line-up of live music at the Hall, including Crickhowell Community Band, Uskulele, Ebbw Valley Brass Band and Black Mountains Recorders.
This event supports the work of the Volunteer Bureau and everyone is invited to take part!
Santa Appeal 2025
Powys Children’s Services and Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau have launched this year’s Santa Appeal, collecting gifts to brighten Christmas for children aged 0–16 who may otherwise go without.
Donations of new toys, CDs, make up, toiletries, cash or gift vouchers are warmly welcomed. Items can be dropped off at Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau at the Clarence Hall, Monday to Friday, 9.30am–2.30pm. Collections can also be arranged by contacting Kerry on 01873 812177.
The final date for donations is Wednesday, 17 December.
Thank you for your support. Together, we’ll help ensure every child receives a little festive cheer this Christmas!
