UNIFORM AND GAMES KIT GUIDE 2024-2025

We are delighted to present to you a new senior school uniform and games kit guide for 2024 to 2025.

Uniform is an important aspect of school life, it provides a shared dress code which is intended to make clothing choices and daily decisions easier for all, a sense of belonging to the school community, a shared identity and gives pupils a smart appearance, putting them in the right frame of mind to learn.

It is important to the school that whatever their identity, our students are comfortable in their uniform, that it is practical for what is demanded of them throughout the day and that they maintain a high standard both whilst on and off the school campus.

Additionally, as all students will at some point participate in sports fixtures both on the school campus and at other school sites, it is equally important that sports/games kit looks smart and is all school branded sports clothing. All pupils should be in school uniform during lessons unless it is their games afternoon that day. In these cases, pupils must wear official school sports kit.

Pupils must wear full school uniform following preschool practices and before PE lessons, they do not need to change back into uniform after a PE lesson. Pupils who have games in the afternoon, can wear official Claremont games kit all day. If pupils are playing sport at lunch or after school they must change before these sessions.

Please ensure all uniform, sports kit, equipment and stationery (including shoes and socks) are clearly named.

It is reasonable to expect that uniform will wear out due to how often it is worn, the considerable wear and tear of school life and how quickly our pupils grow during their time in the senior school. Items should be replaced when they are worn/torn or if the pupil has outgrown them. For example, it is normal to expect trousers, school shoes and shirts to last around an academic year, blazers, skirts, games shorts or skorts and pullovers to last 2 academic years but this will vary from pupil to pupil.

LACROSSE EQUIPMENT INFORMATION

Lacrosse at Claremont is becoming increasingly successful. History was made in 2024 as we entered 6 teams into Nationals (the most ever) with the 2nd’s and 15B’s entering for the first year ever. With all Nationals A teams coming top 16 this year and one team reaching the National final. It is a competitive and enjoyable sport at the school that will be new to all pupils in Year 7.

Matches are played every Saturday during the autumn and winter terms, playing different schools each week to participate in competitive and fun matches. Each week we have up to 12 teams participating in fixtures. The U12 year group have a County tournament to round off their first season of lacrosse.

Claremont has a school page set up through lacrosse equipment providers, Hattersleys, who also give a discount on equipment (CLAREMONT2024). Listed below are the mandatory items for the sport. If your daughter does not turn up to lessons with the required equipment, they will not be able to participate in lessons or co-curricular activities.

• Lacrosse eye guard - mandatory

• Mouthguard - mandatory

• Lacrosse stick - mandatory

• Boots - mandatory

Please visit:

www.hattersleysonline.co.uk/collections/claremont-fan-court-school

Don’t forget to use the discount code: CLAREMONT2024

Finally please note that it is important that all items of kit and equipment are clearly named, as many pupils will have the same equipment.

(Years 7 to 11)

Male fit

Those pupils wearing male fit uniform will be permitted to roll up sleeves and remove ties and blazers.

Female fit

Those pupils wearing female fit uniform will be permitted to remove blazers and pullovers. Socks as opposed to tights are recommended.

SENIOR SCHOOL - SIXTH FORM

General appearance

The sixth form dress code reflects the values of our school. A student’s adherence to the dress code demonstrates respect for the ethos and learning environment.

Through appropriate dress, sixth form students act as role models for younger students and ambassadors for the school. The school’s expectations are that students in the lower and upper sixth understand that the sixth form is a serious learning environment and that they take a mature and responsible approach towards how they present themselves. This will ensure that their time with us is focused on reaching their goals for life beyond Claremont.

Having a smart dress code isn’t about dictating what you should and should not wear, it’s about maintaining a professional appearance and mindset so that we can clearly separate our working week from our personal leisure and relaxation time. An additional benefit is the fact that students will have a good understanding of what to wear for university interviews, job interviews and apprenticeship assessments.
