LOGO! LOGO!

At the October 20, 2025, City Council Meeting, Councilmembers chose the final design for the new OviedoArts and Entertainment Logo, as suggested by the PublicArts Board.

The logo was designed by Kathleen Safi, a resident of Oviedo.

In June 2025, the City Council adopted a Resolution to approve the “Call toArtists” for a logo design. The Call toArtists was posted on City social media pages, the website, city newsletter and shared in social media groups and emails. At its closing the City received 66 applications and designs.

The designs went to PublicArts Board members inAugust, who then picked the top four designs. The designs were ranked on creativity and narrative.

The District, approved in coordination with the State of Florida, allows the City of Oviedo to designate an area around Oviedo in the Park where visitors can enjoy open containers, during specified events, purchased from a licensed establishment served in an approved cup featuring the District’s logo.

The next steps for the City will be to adopt an Ordinance for the designated OviedoArts and Entertainment District, which will have two public hearings.

OVIEDO OAKS DRAINAGE PROJECT OVIEDO OAKS DRAINAGE PROJECT

Ovation, a City contractor, will begin work on the Oviedo Oaks Drainage Improvement project. The work involves the removal and replacement of a storm sewer pipe and storm inlets along OrangeAvenue and with a drainage easement that extends from OrangeAvenue to Sweetwater Creek (between 957 and 947 OrangeAvenue).

The work will begin on October 13, 2025 and will be completed by the end of December 2025. While all residents will have access to their driveways, a small portion of the road will be closed for the duration of the project, so residents will need to follow a detour within the Oviedo Oaks Community.

We would like to thank the residents of Oviedo Oaks for their patience while the project is ongoing.

We want to highlight Gabe Roberts. On October 16th, he was officially sworn in and pinned as a Sergeant. Sgt. Roberts has been an officer and School Resource Officer with Oviedo Police and now we want to congratulate him on this new journey. We know he will do amazing as a Sgt! Well done Sgt. Roberts!

Congrats are in order for Firefighters Justin Edgil and Austin Turja, who were awarded Unit Citations from Seminole County Fire Department this afternoon.  Back in May, they responded to a 68 year old man who was having an allergic reaction.  The gentleman was stung twice and started to go into anaphylactic shock. Turja and Edgil responded, along with Seminole County Engine 42 Firefighters and attended to the patient.  His son stated "If they (all firefighters) did not get there and perform the interventions that they did in such a timely manner, he would not be with us today."   Great job by all!

Live on FOX35 Live on FOX35

Fire Chief Mike Woodward, Battalion ChiefTomAlgeri and Engineer/Paramedic Gavin Jackson were live on FOX35 on October 21 , talking about the new PPE gear firefighters are using. The gear is lighter weight and can be used for a number of responses including car accidents, search and rescue, medical and many other calls. They help prolong the life of the regular bunker suits used to fight fires. Great job guys! st

Get Informed About Uniforms Get InformedAbout Uniforms

Oviedo Police and Fire were stationed at Oviedo High School for another "Get InformedAbout Uniforms" event. Officers and Firefighters, alongside the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department, and branches of the U.S. Military gather at the school and allow kids to experience what it takes to be a police officer, deputy, firefighter or in the military. The kids always have a great time and we love giving them rewarding career choices!

Adopt-A-Road

TheAdoptARoad Program allows residents to directly enhance pollution prevention to our surrounding surface waters. These valuable volunteers assist in the collection of right-of-way trash before it has a chance to enter our storm system and surface waters. If you wish toAdoptARoad, please contact the City of Oviedo StormwaterAdministrator. Participants must enter into a twoyear agreement and sign a liability waiver. Participants shall provide the name of the group or family to be displayed on signage that will be placed at the beginning and end of the adopted roadway segment. Take a Hike!

Have you ever been to the boardwalk at Round Lake Park? If you haven't, you should go check it out. It is a half mile trek through a beautiful wooded area following the banks of Round Lake. Here you will see turtles, snakes, birds, squirrels, maybe a lovely spider's web and quite possibly an alligator lounging on the banks. The boardwalk is high enough for safety, but please do not jump the rails to get into the lake.

If you're really paying attention, you may even see our resident owl out there! Round Lake Park is located at 891 East Broadway Street, Oviedo. Head to the back of the park, past the pavilions where you will see the opening.
