TheFortBraggCityCouncilextendsitssincereappreciationto everyone who participated in our June 26, 2025, community workshop at the Cotton Auditorium. The evening was an inspiringreflectionofcivicengagementatitsbest,andweare grateful for the energy, ideas, and passion shared by our residents.
This workshop was a critical step in Phase 2 of the Mill Site Master Development Agreement Planning Program, where public input helped guide discussion on the proposed Memorandum of Understanding with Mendocino Railway. The collaborative tone and thoughtful perspectives offered during the meeting affirm our belief that Fort Bragg’s strength lies in itspeople.
The feedback gathered will inform the next steps in our planning process, and we remain dedicated to keeping thepublicengagedeverystepoftheway.Asecondpublic workshop is scheduled for July (exact date to be announced), continuing the City’s commitment to transparency and inclusive decision-making as the MOU takes shape. At the June 9, 2025, City Council meeting, Councilmember Albin-Smith presented the proclamation to Cornelia Reynolds, the chair of the Fort Bragg Bee City USA. The City is committed to managing parks and green spaces with pollinators in mind. We encourage residents to do the same by planting native flowers, avoiding pesticides, and protectinghabitats
Mayor Godeke, on behalf of the City Council, presented a proclamation to honor Juneteenth Day. Known by various names such as “Juneteenth Independence Day,” “Emancipation Day,” “Emancipation Celebration,” and “Freedom Day,” Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the end ofslaveryintheUnitedStates.CelebratedbytheBlack community for over 150 years, June 19th symbolizes freedom,commemoratestheabolitionofslavery,and serves as an important reminder of the significant contributionsofAfricanAmericanstooursociety.

Post-FireworksBeachCleanupBringsOutCommunitySpirit
OnSunday,July6,2025,theCityofFortBragghosteditsannualpostFourthofJulyBeachCleanupevent,andthecommunityshowedupin full force. A dedicated group of 22 volunteers, joined by 3 City staff members, came together to help restore the beauty of our coastline followingtheholidayfestivities.
Volunteers fanned out across three of Fort Bragg’s most popular fireworks viewing spots Noyo Beach, Pomo Bluffs, and the Noyo Headlands—collecting litter and debris left behind from the night before. Equipped with buckets, gloves, and grabbers, participants workedside-by-sidetoremovetrashandprotectthesensitivecoastal environmentweallvaluesodeeply.
The event was a shining example of civic pride and collaboration between the City and its residents. Many thanks to all who gave their Sunday afternoon to help keep our beaches clean, safe, and welcomingforall.
