PROCLAMATION: WOMEN’SEQUALITYDAY

During the City Council meeting on August 11th, Councilmember Albin-Smith,onbehalfoftheFort Bragg City Council, officially recognized August 26th as Women’s Equality Day and celebratedthe105thanniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted many women the right to vote. She encouraged all residents to participate in the events scheduled to honor this significant occasion and acknowledged the generations of women whose efforts and sacrifices were instrumental in achieving women ' s suffrage in theUnitedStates.

On August 24th of this year, the public gathered on the Kelley House lawn in Mendocino to participate in a celebration in recognitionofWomen’sEqualityDayandthe105thAnniversaryof the19thAmendment.

CITYCOUNCILDIRECTS$58,000FROM BUDGET SURPLUSTOSTRENGTHENFORTBRAGGFOOD BANKSERVICES

Mayor Godeke, on behalf of the City of Fort Bragg, proudly presented a $58,000 check to the Fort Bragg Food Bank this week,followingCityCouncilapprovalonJuly14.

This funding—made possible through the City’s FY 2024-25 budget surplus—will strengthen food security services for Fort BraggresidentsandhelptheFoodBankcontinueitsincredible workservingfamiliesacrossourcommunity.

A big thank you to the Fort Bragg Food Bank team for their tirelesseffortsinensuringnoneighborgoeshungry.

Richard Daniels and Kylie Galliani are the latest to benefit fro (Business Expansion Retention) Goal o businesses. In 2024, th Transmissionwiththe from the City of Fo Assistance Loan Pr Community Develop (CDBG).

This established shop quality service, perfor and ASE Certified tec everythingfromroutin changes to comple enginerepairs.Thelow not only helped them realize their dream of owningabusinessbutalsocreatedtwonew jobs in addition to retaining three existing jobsforourcommunity.

Thisachievementhighlightsthepowerof combining City-backed financing with entrepreneurial spirit. Although funding fortheCDBGprogramisonhold,theCity hasappliedtouserevenuefromprevious loan repayments to reactivate the program.Weareeagertorestartandwill do so as soon as we get the green light from HCD. through our Business Boost Loan Program. For now, the City of Fort Braggcontinuestohelpbusinessowners.

CITY MANAGER

Fort Bragg Transmission & Auto Repair, a mechanic-owned shop that hasservedtheFortBraggcommunity since 1980. After nearly a decade working in the shop, Richard knew he wanted to carry its legacy forward— and in 2024, he made that dream a reality.

To ensure the transition was a success, Richard turned to West Business Development Center for expert guidance. With the support of West Center advisor Mike Sholin, Richardsecuredthefinancingneeded to purchase the shop. He also works closely with West Center business coachRachelClark,whocontinuesto meet with him monthly to keep the businessmovingintherightdirection.

One year later, Fort Bragg Transmission is thriving. The shop has welcomed new employees, expanded services, and launched a convenient online booking system to better serve customers. On top of that, the Daniels family has grown with the arrival of a new baby,makingthefutureasexcitingasitisbusy. Richard’s journey shows what’s possible when hard work and dedication are backed by the trusted support of West Center’s teamofadvisorsandcoaches.

City staff enjoyed sharing information about city programs and community resources while hearing directly from families about their needsandideasforahealthierFortBragg.Eventslikethisshowcasethe strength of our community—when schools, local organizations, and city departments come together, we create a stronger support network for ouryouthandfamilies.

FortBraggCityHallisexcitedtoannouncethatwearenowopenduring lunchhourstobetterserveourcommunity.Asstudentsreturntoschool and parents face busier schedules, we aim to make local government more accessible to our citizens. Our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,andFridayfrom9AMto5PM.

Please note that City Hall is closed to the public on Wednesdays for stafftrainingandin-serviceactivities.Whetheryouarevisitingtoapply for a business license, pay your water bill, or learn about volunteer opportunities,welookforwardtoseeingyousoon!

NEW HIREDANIELLA AGUIRRE-PUERTO

Daniella Aguirre-Puerto has been hired as the Social Services Liaison for the Care Response Unit. Her position is funded by a new grant aimed at drug treatment and education in schools. Daniella will be present at Fort Bragg High School, Noyo High School, Mendocino High School, and Mendocino Coast College, serving as a resource for youth who need help navigating drug treatmentprograms.Thisinitiativeispartofourongoingeffortto reducedruguseandabuseamongtheyouthinourcommunity.

HOLIDAY TRAFFIC

It's common on holiday weekends to see an increase in people downtown. Putting a number on the increase has been difficult. Besides catching wanted subjects and locating stolen cars, our Flocklicenseplatereadercamerasystemalsoprovidesanalytics.

During the Labor Day weekend, almost 10,000 unique vehicles entered the city from the north and south every day. During the entire month of August, over 700,000 vehicles crossed the Noyo Bridge.Thatisalotoftrafficforourcity!
