A teacher I’ll never forget is Mrs. Ellistine Gaddy, my 3rd & 4th grade teacher at Franklin Elementary. She was the first teacher to pour into me and acknowledge that I was "sharp", and not just the girl who had trouble controlling her talking. She'd move my desk next to hers to get me to stop talking so much but I never minded because I loved that lady.

The teacher I will never forget is Christopher Tate, the best Band Director I've ever known He taught us all so much more than music, but about having respect of everything/everyone around us. For more than 10 years, he showed me how to have a passion for things that I enjoy and to always strive for greatness. While my career isn't in Music, I still value and appreciate knowing how to teach Color Guard and Music (Mainly Clarinet/Saxophone!).

In high school JROTC, we had a Sgt Major Dean who taught me that I could be just as loud and strong despite how small I was. He taught me how to go from a wild and unruly teenager to a disciplined and respectful young adult. He gave me the opportunity to make friends and get the encouragement to raise my grades and really start working towards a good future after graduation.

Human Resources

I am confident in who I am and think beyond the lines, shaped in part by my fourth-grade teacher, Mr. Reese, with his long blond curly hair and colorful dashikis. Each day, he entered the classroom flashing a peace sign, greeting us with “Peace Class,” to which we’d respond, “Peace Teach.” We’d then sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and recite Dr. William Holmes Borders’, poem “I Am Somebody” grounding us in pride and purpose.
