Board members approved an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration regarding land for a new VOR cone, a structure required by the FAA near the airport. Monday, September 15, marked the first session of R.O.C.K Academy, a mayoral initiative that takes Little Rock residents through a 6-week program tailored to provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of the inner workings of City government This kickoff marked the beginning of the fifth cohort! Guest speakers included various city representatives, such as Chief of Staff, Joycelin Randall, Deputy City Attorney, Lynette Perez, City Board Directors Joan Adcock and Virgil Miller, City Clerk, Allison Segars, City Manager, Delphone Hubbard, and Mayor, Frank Scott, Jr.! Congratulations to Melissa Mitchell, the program coordinator, on successfully launching the fall cohort. Thank you for exemplifying peoplecenteredness, exceptional service, and innovation! Sessions are Monday’s starting at 6:00 PM at Willie Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center.
Congratulations to Deputy City Attorney, Lynette Perez, on her appointment by the Nominating Committee of the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) to fill the Regional Vice President position for the 8 Circuit South She has also been nominated to continue in the role for 2026 which will be ratified at the annual meeting Monday, September 29, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Calling all salsa lovers! The Arkansas Salsa Festival is happening October 11 at West Central Community Center, and we’re looking for the boldest, most flavorful salsa in the state.
Test your recipe against local and statewide restaurants to see who will be crowned Arkansas’ Best Salsa. Awards will be given for both Best Salsa and Fan Favorite. Entry is $20 and includes a table and two chairs. You’re welcome to bring your own tent, and we’ll provide the plates and utensils
Festival starts at 12:00 PM, with setup beginning at 9:00 AM. All funds raised go to support community programs. The deadline to sign up is October 4, so don’t wait.

This event is hosted to commemorate the late Toya Robinson, a former city team member serving in the City Clerk’s Office, who gained her wings after a hard fought battle with cancer.
