HUMAN RESOURCES Hiring Manager Training

On September 24, the Department of Human Resources hosted the City of Little Rock Hiring Manager Workshop The workshop walked hiring managers through the full hiring process from creating requisitions to interviewing, onboarding, and beyond We also had breakout sessions and a panel discussion with the Office of the City Attorney. Each session focused on practical steps and best practices to make hiring more consistent, fair, and efficient across departments Participants left with a stronger understanding of how their role fits into the City’s overall hiring timeline, along with great tips on communication, candidate engagement, and using our HR tools It was also a great opportunity to network and share ideas. The feedback was positive, and participants appreciated how hands-on and clear the sessions were. Thank you to the HR team for hosting such an informative and resourceful workshop for our hiring managers!

How to Ask for a Pay Advance

Asking for a pay advance may feel awkward, but we have advice to help you through it.

A pay advance is when your employer agrees to pay you all or part of your next paycheck before you have worked for it. Chances are, your employer is not going to simply hand you a check. There will be paperwork involved, and potentially some interest. For that reason, an advance is something that should only be used for emergencies. In this article you will learn:

When to ask for a Pay Advance

How to request an Advance
