IN MEMORIAM: PASSING OF AN EMPLOYEE

It is with heavy hearts that the Public Works Department announces the tragic loss of Brian Chrestman. Brian was the City’s Painter from the Building Services Division and passed away over the weekend. The Public Works Department will share the memorial service information to city employees when it becomes available.

IN MEMORIAM: PASSING OF AN EMPLOYEE

William Embry Byrd

1979 – 2025

Will was employed by City of Little Rock Public Works Operations for 5 years. He held the position of an Operator 5. Will was a good friend to many, and well-liked by all. As an Operator 5 he was skilled at operating all our heavy equipment at Operations. Will knew his job and was very meticulous about all that he did. Will was dedicated to the City of Little Rock. He was very personable and professional with the citizens on the occasion that he had to deal with them on a job site. William Byrd has left a definite void here at Operations and he will be sorely missed. At 45 years old, he was taken too soon. God Bless those who mourn him, until we meet again.

Women’s History Month

In 1987, after years of advocacy, Congress officially designated March as Women’s History Month in the U.S.? This month celebrates the achievements, contributions, and resilience of women throughout history —honoring pioneers in science, politics, arts, and beyond.

The first woman to run for U.S. president was Victoria Woodhull in 1872 nearly 50 years before women won the right to vote! A trailblazer for women's rights, she was a stockbroker, publisher, and activist who pushed boundaries long before her time.
