The North Peace Community Foundation and the City of Fort St. John have partnered with ConocoPhillips to help you strengthen your neighborhood through the Community Connections Benefit Program. Yard Waste Drop-off | June 10, July 8, August 31, September 16

Bring your yard waste to North Peace Arena. Accepted materials include leaves, grass clippings, plant trimmings, sod, twigs, and branches, and Black Knot infested branches. Material that will not be accepted include bags, processed lumber, trees, food scraps, and dog wastes. Please do not drop off materials before 10 am. Canada Day Celebrations | July 1

The Canada Day Celebrations are free to attend and everyone is invited! This event includes a pancake breakfast, parade, an on-stage ceremony, culturally infused Indigenous dancing and drumming, music, inflatables, food vendors, a Farmer’s Market, the Classic Car Cruisers Show, and so much more! Be a Hometown Tourist Month | July 4 - July 31

Get out and experience all that the Energetic City has to offer! Our Visitor Centre staff have put together a passport of activities, things to try, and select deals at local businesses in Fort St. John. Pick up your passport at the Visitor Centre or print it off at home starting July 4 (available at fortstjohn.ca). Take your passport to each Hometown Tourist venue, support their business, and get a stamp! Once you collected as many stamps as possible, submit your passport at the Visitor Centre for a chance to win a prize basket! Passports must have at least 1 stamp to be entered. The individual with the most stamps will automatically win a prize. All other passports will be put in a random draw to win prizes (including gift cards and swag from participating businesses).

Geocaching | July 4 - September 30

The Recreation Team have hidden trinkets all over the Energetic City and we want you to find them! Download the Geocaching App for free and see how many you can find! Use the app to track your find, leave comments, and even make your own geocaches for others to find! This activity is for all ages.

Music in the Park | July 20 - September 7

Music in the Park by Bruised Orange Productions and the City of Fort St. John returns this summer. Join us at the Centennial Park Stage every Thursday evening from 6:30-8pm for live music. This event is free for the community and will feature local and visiting bands/musicians. Bring your blankets, chairs, the entire family, and make Music in the Park a weekly event! This event takes place at the Centennial Park Stage unless it’s raining, then we will pop over to the Festival Plaza for a little overhead protection. The event may be moved or postponed in the event of extreme weather, stay tuned to our City of Fort St. John Recreation Facebook page for up to date information. Save the date, on July 27 and August 10, local breweries will be offering beer for purchase.

BC Day Scavenger Hunt | August 1 - 31

This free British Columbia Scavenger Hunt contest will run from August 1-31. Check the City of Fort St. John Recreation Facebook page every Monday in August for crossword clues. Two clues will be released (one across and one down). These Facebook clues will lead you to a local spot where you will find the actual crossword clues that fill in the puzzle. Individuals who complete their crossword will be entered to win a BC staycation prize!

National Disc Golf Day | August 5

Haven't tried the Toboggan Hill Disc Golf Course yet? National Disc Golf Day is the perfect occasion to give it a whirl. Park at the upper lot (off of 96 Ave) between 11am-1pm, check in with our staff at the top of the hill, and play a round! All participants will be entered to win a grand prize package with disc golf swag. Participants are required to bring their own equipment, this is a free event.

Movie In The Pool - Avatar: The Way Of Water | August 12

Grab a floatie while you watch a movie in the leisure pool. This movie is rated PG-13.

National Geocaching Day | August 19

Download the official Geocaching App for free and find trinkets all over the Energetic City! We've added new locations all over Fort St. John in honour of this day! Heading out? Take a photo of your hunt for geocaches and be entered to win a prize! Photos can be submitted to recreation@fortstjohn.ca.

Peace Region Poker Ride | August 19

Start your engines for a ride throughout the Peace Region! Riders will stop at Visitor Centre locations in Hudson's Hope, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek, Taylor and Fort St. John. Fort St. John riders will start at the Pomeroy Sport Centre and check in with Visitor Centre staff. At each destination, riders will draw a card to make up a poker hand. Registration is required, but buying a poker hand is optional. The participant with the top poker hand will win half the registration pot and the other half will go to a local charity. Breakfast for participants will be provided at 7:30 am and the ride will go from 9am - 5pm.

Community One Stop | September 9

Do you represent an organization or provide programs that require registration? One Stop is a great opportunity to advertise and get participants signed up. One Stop will take place at the Totem Mall from 10am-2pm. Groups wanting to reserve a spot must register in advance at the Visitor Centre. $20 per table. Thank you PETRONAS Skate | September 10

Thank you PETRONAS Energy! Join us on the Pomeroy Sport Centre Oval from 1:30-3:30pm and 4:30-6:30pm for the first PETRONAS Free Skate of the season. All ages and skating abilities welcome. NOTE: Children 8 years and younger must be accompanied on the ice by a guardian of 16 years of age or older. Free admission, helmets are recommended.

Energetic Amazing Race | September 23

The Energetic Amazing Race is back. Register a team for an exciting foot pursuit around Fort St. John. Teams will receive clues, run to the locations, and complete fun challenges. There will be a family and adult division. Come up with a great costume ideas, there will be prizes for best adult team costume and best family team costume. Teams must register in advance by calling or stopping by the Fort St. John Visitor Centre. NOTE: All participants will be required to sign a waiver prior to racing. Free event.

Pull The Plug Pool Party | September 30

It’s the end of the summer and we want you to celebrate with us at North Peace Leisure Pool. Join us between 9am-9pm for a free swim and the last pool party of the season!
