I am fortunate to be among the first to read each edition of our newsletter and every time, I feel a great sense of pride. But this edition, I honestly don’t know where to start.. the stories, the achievements, and above all, the incredible people featured are truly outstanding.
A few words from
Neill Catton, CEO
It is a real pleasure to welcome our new colleagues, and it’s equally inspiring to see the passion and dedication of our teams across the business. You all represent what CIS stands for - day in and day out.
If ever there was an edition that reflects our values of ‘Passion’, ‘Determination’, and ‘Leadership’, this is it. It’s a shining example of what we can achieve together.
That said, I have no doubt that each edition will continue to raise the bar. That’s what defines CIS people - we never stand still, and we never stop striving to be better.
So, take a moment to read, reflect, and feel proud. This is a celebration of you - a collective effort that makes CIS the remarkable company it is today.
I wish you all a fantastic summer and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the autumn!

03. COMPANY AWARDS & PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
On the 21st May, we were honoured to attend the ACS Pacesetters Security Officer of Distinction Awards 2025. We were proud to see two of our front-line colleagues recognised as winners along with CIS as a company. We would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated for their exceptional life saving acts and bravery in the industry we operate in.
In January this year, expectant mother Odia arrived at University Hospital Lewisham in active labour and whilst in the car park, she quickly realised she wouldn’t make it to the birthing unit and called for help. Without hesitation, CIS Security Officer, Adeniyi Oloye, stepped in to assist, ensuring a safe and smooth delivery. Moments later, CIS Security Officer, Mohammed Elamine Chabat, arrived to support, keeping mother and baby stable until medical teams took over. Their quick thinking, compassion, and dedication turned an intense moment into the beautiful and safe arrival of baby Ocean.
CIS Winner, Adeniyi Oloye stated:
“I felt an immense sense of pride in being able to help at such a crucial moment and play a role in the delivery of baby Ocean. This was a reminder that security colleagues play a much broader role in ensuring the well-being of people, not just through protection but also by offering care and compassion when it matters most. It really is all in a day’s work for us!”
It is a challenging environment responding to anti-social behaviour, criminal activity, and incidents of individuals displaying the intentions of ending their lives by entering the River Thames. In August last year whilst on shift, Daniel Williams, Night Supervisor at London Bridge City, responded and treated an individual who had been stabbed in the chest then led negotiating with a female threatening to jump in the
river whilst implementing a safeguarding plan until emergency services arrived on the scene.
London Bridge City pays particular attention to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) through the Safe Strides Project and Safe Haven, Daniel has championed these projects ensuring the team are alert to the challenges and proactive in the implementation of policies and procedures. Daniel has positively impacted the lives of over twenty members of the public during critical incidents by intervening and preventing serious assaults, responding to life threatening injuries or preventing self-harm, all completed with a smile, compassion, outstanding customer service and his unwavering steadfastness.
CIS Winner, Daniel Williams, Night Supervisor at London Bridge City, stated:
“I’m honoured to receive this award. If you told me 3 years ago that I would be an award-winning supervisor at LBC I would have laughed at you. This award has shown me how much I have achieved in a short space of time. Anything is possible with hard work and dedication. Thank you, ACS Pacesetters, for the opportunity to share my journey in security.”
Well done Adeniyi and Daniel, keep up the good work!
Award Winner: Adeniyi Oloye, CIS Security Officer and Michelle Russell, CEO SIA.

EARLY PAY PRODUCT
The Early Pay product has introduced the Thrive feature which offers financial guidance and resources within the app. The feature provides tips on managing, saving expenses, consolidating debt and other financial wellness topics to help you make informed decision on your finances.
You can access Thrive by simply logging into the Early Pay app and navigating under the ‘Thrive’ tab at the bottom of your screen.
EARLY PAY BENEFIT
Early Pay is a mobile app that gives you flexibility in how you take your pay. It is like pay on-demand which means you can take some of your pay early, in the case of an emergency.
How does it work?
Early Pay lets you see how much you could withdraw from the wages you’ve earned so far in a month. You can withdraw some of these funds and the money will then appear in your bank account in a few minutes.
How does my balance get updated?
Your drawdown balance will be updated once a week, (by Wednesday midday), by the payroll team and it will only include shifts already completed, between the 1st and the Sunday prior, as per your Timegate diary.
As an example, by Wednesday 19th March 2025, the update in Early Pay will be for the period Saturday 1st March 2025 to Sunday 16th March 2025.
What pay elements are included in my balance?
Only worked and confirmed shifts will be included in the available balance; holidays will not be included.
How much can I drawdown?
A maximum 50% of your earned shifts (with a £400 cap) in a calendar month. A transaction fee of £2.95 will also apply for every transaction you make. For example, if you withdraw £50 on the 17th March, and a further £50 on the 19th March, then on pay day 10th April, you will have a deduction of £105.90. This is for the two withdrawal amounts of £50 plus £2.95 fee for each transaction made.
Can I postpone or split the repayment of any amounts drawn?
It is not possible to postpone or split any of the drawdown amounts. These will be deducted from the next available pay date. We advise that you only withdraw if absolutely necessary and only if you know you can afford to have a deduction of your next wages.
IMPORTANT POINTS
f Only withdraw if it is absolutely necessary.
f Keep any withdrawals to a minimum, to avoid re-occurring transaction fees. The payroll team can review and suspend individual access if Early Pay is not used responsibly.
f Early Pay works in line with our pay periods which are calendar months. Balances will revert to zero on the 1st of each month and you will not be able to withdraw funds until the payroll team has updated the system.
f Early Pay will be locked by 5pm on the last day of each month and reactivated on payday.
RESPONSIBLE SPENDING
Early Pay is a great benefit if used responsibly. It is important to understand this is not a loan facility and therefore all amounts withdrawn will be deducted from the next available pay day with no exceptions. In case of misuse, the payroll team will have the option to suspend individuals from using Early Pay.

PAY YOUR PENSION SOME ATTENTION!
The “Pension Attention” campaign is a UK government initiative aimed at encouraging people to actively engage with their pensions to ensure financial security in later life. With rising prices and falling living standards it’s never been more important to raise awareness about the significance of regularly reviewing your pension savings. Employers play a key role in helping colleagues with their financial wellbeing, providing the foundations for the financial stability in retirement.
Saving into a workplace pension comes with several benefits. Here are the main points the campaign emphasises:
Employer Contributions
Take advantage of employer contributions – this is essentially “free money” that can significantly boost your retirement savings.
Tax Relief
Pension contributions benefit from government tax relief. This means that for every contribution you make, the government adds a percentage based on your tax bracket.
For example, if you are a basic rate taxpayer and you contribute £100, it only cost you £80, as the government adds £20 (20% tax relief), resulting in a total of £100 going into your pension pot.
Growth Over Time
The money you save in your pension has the potential to grow, thanks to investment returns. It’s vital to start contributing early and save consistently.
Pension Consolidation
Reviewing and consolidating pensions from different jobs can help keep track of savings and potentially reduce fees.
Hassle-Free And Flexible
With automatic deductions from your salary, saving for retirement becomes effortless. Pension freedoms give the individual choice of how and when to access their pension savings from the age of 55.
Plan For The Future You Want
Using tools like PLSA Retirement Living Standards, the campaign encourages people to think about the lifestyle they want in retirement and plan accordingly.
Reconnect with your pension by visiting the Standard Life app today! With 24/7 access, you can stay up to date on your contributions, investment balance, and growth. The app’s range of management tools allows you to estimate your retirement income, update your personal details, select beneficiaries or transfer other pensions in, among other features. By actively managing your Standard Life pension, you stay in control of your financial planning and can make proactive decisions for a more secure future.

VE DAY 2025
Honouring the Past, Protecting the Future.
On the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we took a moment to reflect on the bravery and unity that helped bring peace in 1945.
At CIS, we’re proud to carry forward that same spirit – protecting our communities with the same values of duty, resilience, and respect. As a company built around people, we recognise that true strength comes from not just what we do, but from who we are.
To those who served then, and to those who continue to serve in every way today, we thank you.
EMERGENCY INCIDENT
CIS BREAKFAST
On the 15th April, The London Borough of Hackney team were invited to a team breakfast at The Delauney, recognising their great work and unwavering commitment.
There was an incident which took place in the north of the Borough, resulting in an emergency rest center being set up at the HTH. CIS were contacted at 03:00hrs and tasked to provide 10 security officers to ensure the rest center could provide vulnerable residents shelter and welfare facilities. CIS had 10 officers on site by approximately 05:00hrs which is really impressive, and a real credit to the dedication of the team.
The team recieved various commendations from Hackney for all the team who helped with the rest center. The feedback received was truly amazing, assisting with unloading the emergency planning equipment, going to buy water from Tesco’s, making residents teas, coloring in with children, and generally helping in any way possible. The team as a whole really showed humanity at its best.
You should all be very proud of your contribution!
STOP THE BLEED DAY
On the 22nd May, it was Stop the Bleed Day.
CIS was proud to support the installation of a publicly accessible bleed control kit in Finsbury Square.
The installation was a community-driven project aimed at strengthening public safety in the area. This life-saving initiative was led by John Salthouse as he coordinated efforts between key stakeholders- securing funding from LME, The Gilbert, and Alphabeta, working closely with FS Garden Bar on installation logistics, and gaining the necessary approvals from Islington Council.
The Old Street District Partnership kindly agreed to take on custodian responsibilities, ensuring the kit remains accessible and wellmaintained going forward.
A special thank you goes to Darcy Fletcher, our CIS paramedic, who generously took time out of her busy schedule to demonstrate how to use the kit, with support from Training Manager, Steve Wicks. Their time and knowledge were invaluable in helping the local community feel more confident and prepared in the event of an emergency.
Every second counts in an emergency and knowing how to control severe bleeding can be the difference between life and death.
This project was a collective effort, and it’s heartening to see so many individuals and organisations come together to support a resource that could one day save a life.
Steve Wicks, Training Manager, and Darcy Fletcher, Company Trainer.

22 BISHOPSGATE - GO LIVE DAY!
CIS is delighted to announce that, following a stringent tender process, we have been awarded the Security Services contract for the iconic 22 Bishopsgate building.
22 Bishopsgate is a people-focused workplace destination located in the City of London. The 22 Bishopsgate proposition is centred around fostering a new type of productivity, with a focus on wellbeing, technology, sustainability and community. At 278m tall, it offers over 120,000 sq ft of amenity spaces, including a free to access public viewing gallery, Horizon 22.
This is a very exciting time for CIS and responsibility for 22 Bishopsgate will lie in the trusted hands of Operations Director, Sammy Harrington and Account Manager, Adnaan Butt.
Adnaan stated;
“For me, 22 Bishopsgate is far more than just a striking feature of the London skyline, it’s a vibrant, forward-thinking community that sets the benchmark for excellence, innovation, and collaboration. It reflects what’s possible when talented individuals come together with a shared vision and a commitment to delivering at the highest level.
As the Account Manager at CIS Security, overseeing 22 Bishopsgate, I’m incredibly proud to be supporting such a well-established and iconic operation. The standards already in place are a testament to the professionalism, hard work, and dedication of the on-site team, and it’s a real privilege to play a role in building on that solid foundation.
My focus will be on providing consistent support, advancing strong relationships, and ensuring that the values and expectations of 22 Bishopsgate continue to shine through in everything we do. I aim to be a reliable point of contact, someone the team can trust for guidance, encouragement, and collaboration as we continue moving forward together.
I’m genuinely excited to be part of this journey and to work alongside such a passionate and experienced team. I have no doubt that, together, we’ll continue to uphold and enhance the exceptional standards that make 22 Bishopsgate such a standout place to work and visit”.
We wish the team the best of luck and we are so excited to work in partnership with 22 Bishopsgate!
PEDAL. PADDLE. PEAK. FOR A POWERFUL CAUSE.
On Saturday 5th July, 22 people from the 22 Bishopsgate team, which includes CIS team members, participated in the Pedal Paddle Peak Challenge for an all-day, all-out adventure through the stunning Lake District, combining cycling, kayaking, and hiking to raise funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
This isn’t just a fitness challenge. It’s a commitment to support over 110,000 people across the UK living with muscle-wasting conditions like Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. These are conditions that gradually strip individuals of the ability to move, breathe, and live independently.
Security Operations Manager, Ricky N, shares;
“As someone deeply passionate about fitness, this cause hits close to home. Working out is my outlet, my therapy. It’s what keeps me grounded... Our muscles are involved in nearly everything we do, from smiling and hugging our loved ones to simply standing tall and breathing deeply. It’s easy to take that for granted, but so many people are fighting daily just to keep hold of those basic abilities. I’ll be using my strength to ride, to paddle, to climb, and to fight for a future where no one has to face muscular dystrophy alone. It’s fantastic to participate in a challenge like this with a number of the 22 Bishopsgate Team.”
We are so proud to support our team as they channel their strength, stamina, and determination into something far bigger than a finish line.
Please consider donating and cheering them on as they push limits to power hope.

LEADENHALL BUILDING ART WITH GBENGA
A new project at The Leadenhall Building planned by Security Officer Gbenga Ilumoka and Head of Security Joe Easterbrook has been made possible by a £500 grant from the CIS Citizenship Trust. The funding has supported a series of free art workshops designed to bring people together, reduce stress, and build stronger relationships across the security, cleaning, engineering, and building management teams. The workshops have been led by Gbenga and have offered a relaxed space for staff to try painting and drawing with no experience needed!
Taking time out for creative activities has proven benefits for mental health, and these sessions aimed to support wellbeing and create a shared space where people can have fun outside of their usual work roles. Feedback has been really positive! The initial workshops have been open to site teams, but with the concept now proven the aim is to invite building occupiers to join future sessions. This initiative is a great example of how the CIS Citizenship Trust is helping fund projects that support wellbeing and community at site level.
JOIN GBENGA ILUMOKA FOR A SERIES OF FUN STILL LIFE ART CLASSES AT THE LEADENHALL BUILDING!
On Friday 16th May London Bridge City were very proud to accept Secured Environments accreditation from Guy Ferguson, CEO Police Crime Prevention Initiatives. LBC first attained this award in 2022. It lasts 3 years.
Secured Environments is police certification scheme. It is awarded to organisations that are able to show that they have adopted six key principles for protecting themselves against crime.
• The leadership and organisation is committed to delivering a secure environment.
• The organisation and leadership understands the risks it faces.
• The organisation and leadership develops an effective response to reduce the risks.
• Security is managed with proactive plans.
• Security is effectively implemented.
• There is regular evaluation and review of security.
“ At London Bridge City, we were driven to obtain the award and undertake an independent check and validation of our security operations. This was a way in which we could assess the estate’s overall performance and receive feedback. The award demonstrates we take the security and safety of our occupiers, staff and visitors seriously. The reaccreditation demonstrates that we have evolved and driven continuous improvement which we commit to keep doing.”
John Reynolds Head of Security and Safety at LBC said,

ENHANCING OPERATIONAL READINESS: COMPLETION OF STAGE 1
After months of meticulous planning, training, and strategic development, we are proud to announce the successful completion of Stage 1 of a critical predeployment operation. This stage focused on enhancing covert capabilities around key CIS locations, major events, and intelligence-driven sites -ensuring operational readiness in an evolving and complex threat landscape.
Simon Riley BA (Hons), Behavioural Detection & Training Specialist at CIS reflects on our journey and outlines what comes next:
“Just as I did from 2012–2022 supporting Police and National Counter-Terrorism, and with Behavioural Detection now fully embedded into business-as-usual operations for CIS since 2022, we are entering a new phase. We will now develop and deploy highly capable assets, both operationally and through a Level 5 Commanders Course, to deter, detect, and disrupt threats from FSGs (Foreign State Groups), OCGs (Organised Crime Groups), proxy actors, and politically motivated protest and violence.
Our workforce is diverse, talented, and deserving of the same level of training and support I’ve delivered to government-facing assets. Some days, these teams will be visible; other times,
they’ll be entirely covert - always skilled, always precise.
CIS plays a crucial role in protecting the UK’s critical infrastructure and iconic national sites. As the threat landscape evolves, so must we.
Stage 2 will focus on new operational environments, including the iconic London Bridge City site and the muchloved Christmas Market - ideal for developing our next layer of counterhostile capabilities.
I’m immensely proud of the company’s ambition and the team’s appetite to take on this challenge as we continue to set a new standard for excellence in this space.”
John REYNOLDS MSyl, Head of Security at London Bridge City stated;
“Simon Riley is the UK’s leading BDO SME and we are very fortunate to have him at CIS Security. In January, Simon and I had a conversation about where the future of BDO in the private security industry could go next as we face multiple threats on different levels. I am excited to be part of the project and how we make all of our sites safer by adopting tried and tested deployments on our contracts.”
As threats become more dynamic and unpredictable, our commitment to excellence, readiness, and innovation remains unwavering. We are proud to stand alongside teams delivering operational impact with precision, discretion, and professionalism.
Well done to Simon Riley and all involved!
CIS were proud to support the Native Communities team at their recent Party on the Hill – a vibrant celebration at the impressive Station Hill.
It was a pleasure to meet Mayor Dr Alice Mpofu-Coles and to connect with so many key partners and local stakeholders. As Native Communities’ trusted security partner, CIS Security was honoured to play a role in making this event a safe and successful one.
Events like these are a true reflection of the power of collaboration and bringing together service partners, businesses, and local authorities to build stronger, more connected communities.

40 LEADENHALLCITY OF LONDON POLICE BIKE MARKING
CIS were proud to support 40 Leadenhall and the City of London Police in this great bike marking initiative.
Zoe Howell, Technical Systems Administrator, 40 Leadenhall stated:
We’re proud to support this fantastic initiative in partnership with the City of London Police at 40 Leadenhall, where we’re using advanced bike marking technology as a highly effective and visible deterrent to thieves. It’s a simple yet powerful way to safeguard property, and a great example of how CIS Security is embracing innovation to enhance safety and security across our sites. By using smart technology and working collaboratively with local authorities, we’re helping to protect people and their valuables, making the communities we work in safer, and reinforcing CIS Security’s ongoing commitment to building safer environments wherever we operate.
A huge well done to all involved!
SOCIAL MEDIA AUDITORS - 40 LEADENHALL
Jim McAllister QPM, Colleague Development Manager, stated:
‘’The effectiveness of our colleagues depends on their preparedness, knowledge, and adaptability in diverse situations. By providing relevant, meaningful, and highquality training to both colleagues and customers, we can enhance workplace performance and operational efficiency. This specialised training is designed to address an emerging challenge: interactions social media bloggers. It will equip individuals with current, practical knowledge to manage such encounters lawfully, safely, and professionally—ensuring responses are measured, appropriate, and aligned with our standards’’.
Andrew Gough, Head of Security, 40 Leadenhall, stated:
“Dealing with Social Media Auditors is now unfortunately a common situation for Security Teams across London and as frustrating as they can be they’re usually breaking no laws. When put under pressure by multiple bloggers at one time it can be all too easy for an officer to say the wrong thing or become defensive in their nature. This is exactly what the bloggers want whilst recording them, to draw a negative reaction. This training, created by Jim McAllister, delivers not only the skills on how to successfully engage or not engage with bloggers but also the legal knowledge to help you handle those awkward interactions.”
At CIS, we’re thrilled to share that Two London Wall Place has been officially awarded the Building Security Assessment Scheme (BSAS) accreditation. This is a testament to the outstanding work and dedication of our on-site team and partners.
Mike Carr, General Manager, Two London Wall Place, stated, “The BSAS is more than just a certification; it represents our commitment to creating a safe, resilient, and trustworthy environment for everyone who enters our building. To us, participating in BSAS means holding ourselves to a higher standard. It demonstrates that we take a proactive approach to security, not just reacting to risks but anticipating them and embedding robust safety measures into every aspect of 2LWP operations. A special thank you to Jon Gilbert, Security Manager, for his dedication and leadership in making this achievement possible.”
Kieron
Nunney, Operations Director, CIS

“A brilliant achievement and shows the team’s commitment to a safe and secure building for our colleagues, customers, and visitors.”
We would like to say a huge thank you to our valued partners at Savills and give recognition to key team members Mike Carr, Gemma C, and Jon Gilbert. Well done to all involved!
TOUR DE PATERNOSTER CYCLE CHALLENGE
Our incredible CIS Cyclones took on the challenge last Thursday at Paternoster Square Estate and cycled the full 196 nautical miles from London to Paris (on static bikes!) all in support of Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity, a charity dedicated to helping those affected by breast cancer.
On the CIS team was Laura Robilliard who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and she shares her story:
What inspired you to take part in the Tour De Pat cycle challenge?
Being diagnosed with breast cancer on my 38th birthday in May 2024 was life-changing. It shook me to my core, but it also gave me a completely new perspective on what my body and mind are capable of. Taking part in the Tour De Pat felt like a way to take back some control — to move forward with strength and purpose after a year of surgeries, treatment, and recovery. It’s also about showing gratitude to everyone who supported me, and giving something back to the breast cancer community that helped me feel less alone during the toughest days.
What message do you hope this challenge sends to others?
I hope it shows that life doesn’t stop after a diagnosis — in fact, it can give you a whole new sense of resilience. You can rebuild, you can thrive, and you can take on challenges that once felt impossible.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, or post-recovery, you are stronger than you think — and you deserve to live fully.
If you could say one thing to someone currently going through a breast cancer journey, what would it be?
Take it one day at a time — and be kind to yourself. There will be hard days, but there will also be days when you surprise yourself with your own strength. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and remember that this chapter will not define you — it will shape a stronger version of you.
The dedication, effort, and teamwork throughout the day was truly impressive.
We’re proud to stand with Future Dreams and Paternoster Square, and the incredible work they do for individuals and families navigating breast cancer.
There’s still time to donate, share, and show your support.

THE GILBERT 5K RUN
CIS was proud to take part in the 5k Run in aid for Tommy’s Charity.
John Salthouse, Security Manager (MidCity Place) stated:
“It was a privilege to take part in The Gilbert 5K Run for the second consecutive year, once again alongside my son. The event was held in support of Tommy’s, a remarkable charity dedicated to funding research into miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth causes that deeply impact many families across the UK.
Having both participated last year, it was a proud moment to return together and continue supporting such an important cause. Events like this not only raise vital awareness and funding, but also bring together colleagues, families, and the wider community in a shared commitment to making a difference.
A sincere thank you to everyone involved, and The Gilbert Team with organising and supporting another fantastic charity.”
WINDRUSH DAY
At CIS, we believe in celebrating the rich diversity that shapes our team and our communities. On Windrush Day, we took a moment to recognise and honour the immense contributions of the Windrush Generation and their descendants to British society.
To mark this occasion, our Head Office hosted a mini celebration with a thoughtful gesture, delicious cupcakes for all colleagues to enjoy. It was a simple but meaningful way to come together, reflect, and show appreciation for the cultural legacy and resilience of the Windrush Generation.
Celebrations like these are part of our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace, where everyone’s heritage is acknowledged and valued.

THE HACKNEY TOWN HALL CELEBRATE WINDRUSH DAY
On the 22nd June, CIS were proud to support Hackney Town Hall who hosted a day of celebrations for Windrush Day.
Rifat Hasan, CIS Account Manager, attended the event to drop off some freebies and check in with the CIS team on the day. We had the pleasure of talking to the local community, event organisers, stall vendors, our customer at the Hackney Town Hall and the Hackney Mayor, Caroline Woodley.
We were honoured to assist with help required on stalls, including the Claudia Jones Organisation which supports domestic abuse against women and highlights and supports the local community.
We saw huge interest from the community in support of domestic abuse against women, and anti-spiking devices which CIS provided. We also had great interest from the general public about CIS, our recruitment process, apprenticeships, vacancies and upcoming events.
A big thank you to all who took part to make this day so successful!
CIS SECURITY MARCHES WITH
PRIDE:
THE FABRIC OF FREEDOM
CIS Security was proud to join the City Security Council at this year’s London Pride Parade, standing alongside thousands in a vibrant celebration of identity, unity, and visibility. Under the powerful theme “The Fabric of Freedom,” we honoured the diversity that strengthens not only the LGBTQ+ community, but also our own workplace and the wider society we serve.
“The Fabric of Freedom” captures something we witness every day at CIS, when people feel safe and supported to be themselves, everyone benefits. Every person’s background, identity, and lived experience brings something valuable to the table. Pride is a powerful reminder that inclusion and equality are not given, they are built through collective action, allyship, and ongoing effort.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) sits at the heart of everything we do. As part of our wider Citizenship framework — alongside Colleague Engagement, ESG, Reward & Recognition, and Working Environment — EDI guides how we shape a workplace where people feel respected, valued, and heard.
Taking part in Pride is one way we demonstrate this commitment. It reflects our dedication to building a culture where people are empowered to show up as their full selves, and where a strong, inclusive community is something we create together.
We are proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community as allies, colleagues, and advocates for lasting inclusion.

These security upgrades are designed to enhance the overall safety and wellbeing of all the residents and staff, providing an added layer of protection in spaces that are meant to be safe, secure, and empowering.
To ensure staff were fully equipped to operate the new systems with confidence, our team also provided hands on training for the mobile app that connects to the onsite CCTV systems, allowing the staff to monitor the cameras in real time and access footage when needed, offering a peace of mind and full control over their security set up.
This partnership was met with heartfelt appreciation from the manager of Solace, who expressed deep gratitude for what she described as a truly selfless and impactful gesture by the CIS team. She emphasised how vita it is for women and families in the refugees to feel secure in their temporary homes, and how our contribution played a significant role in making that possible.
At CIS we believe that safety is not just our profession – it’s our purpose. Being able to extend our expertise in a way that directly benefits vulnerable individuals reinforces the values that guide our work every day. We look forward to continuing our support of initiatives like this that make a real difference in people’s lives.

At CIS, we’re incredibly proud of the work our teams do to support customers, communities, and each other. It’s not easy work but it’s crucial and today we’re shining a light on that effort.
Thank you to our team, for your dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to your work, no matter what the day brings. We couldn’t do it without you.
A special thank you to Susan Jeffers for a smooth delivery of this event!
07. HEALTH AND SAFETY
CAN BUILDING MAINTENANCE
IMPROVE SAFETY?
The importance of proper building maintenance in workplace safety lies in the fact that it helps minimise risks and provides safe working conditions. Why is this and what should you be do-ing to stay on top of providing a safe place of work?
Regular maintenance
Building maintenance is far more than a background task - it’s an investment in work-place safety and sustainability. A well-maintained building and associated facilities re-duces the risk of malfunctions or breakdowns that can lead to accidents and injuries.
STUART BATEMAN
DPO, SHEQ MANAGER
For example, if you have loose flooring or worn carpets, the likelihood of a trip will be far higher than if the flooring is in good condition. If a handrail is loose, when a person grabs it in time of need, it could fail, leading to them sustaining a fall.
Early detection of hazards
Routine inspections and maintenance activities help to identify potential safety hazards before they escalate. If left unattended, unexpected workplace hazards can gradually creep in. Issues like malfunctioning equipment, obstructed walkways and blocked fire ex-its, or damaged electrical wiring are among the factors that could lead to accidents. Con-sistent monitoring is essential.
Tip. Be vigilant for indicators, whether it’s a lingering odour near equipment or a flicker-ing light. Maintenance staff should detect these risks and address them before they esca-late into more significant issues.
Business benefits
Regular maintenance prolongs the lifespan of machinery and equipment, reducing the need for sudden replacements or repairs. Properly maintained equipment runs efficient-ly, uses less energy and performs optimally reducing your overheads and potential nega-tive impacts on your surrounding environment. If, e.g. your boiler breaks down, you will need an urgent intervention which will probably involve call out costs, spare parts, etc.
Tip. A strong maintenance programme shows you care about safety and contributes to a positive safety culture.
Is it a legal requirement?
Along with the general duties placed on you to undertake regular checks, specific regula-tions, and in particular Approved Codes of Practice (ACoP) , e.g. L8 - The Control of Le-gionella Bacteria in Water Systems , require inspections and testing. Things to consider include the inspection of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and ongoing maintenance of ventilation and pressure systems, and temperature controls such as heating and air conditioning. Note. Whilst an ACoP is not legally binding, you need to demonstrate that you have an equal or better standard than recommended.
Tip. Don’t forget your record keeping. Documenting checks helps to track progress and identify trends. These records can be used in investigations, audits and as your defence that you have complied with safety regulations.
What else should be considered?
A clean, organised and well-maintained workplace not only improves daily operations but also supports employee wellbeing. Most importantly, it doesn’t have to cost much, if anything. Good maintenance practices contribute to better air quality, lighting, cleanli-ness and overall workplace conditions that promote safety and wellbeing.
Tip. Ensure that external contractors adhere to your safety standards. Verify certifications and supervise their work to maintain workplace safety.
From reducing hazards to preventing costly breakdowns and promoting energy efficiency, robust building maintenance will ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
Implement a structured maintenance strategy, such as daily or weekly inspections of essential building components, including the condition of the flooring, boiler pressures, etc.
CIS were proud to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week. We want to say a huge thank you to our teams, our colleagues, and wider community for showing up, speaking up, and supporting one another.
We wore our green ribbons which was a small symbol of a much bigger message: that mental health matters, and that no one should face things alone.
Let’s continue the conversation and work towards building a culture where checking in is second nature and support is always part of the job.
Strength in support. Power in community.

ANDREW GOUGH AND MAITE RIQUERO LOZA
“40 Leadenhall’s marathon runners were out in action this April with Andrew Gough completing the Brighton Marathon and Maite Riquero Loza completing the London Marathon. Well done to both for taking on these gruelling tests and making it over the finish line. I’m sure more challenges are to come for both of these keen runners.”
