TECHNICAL SUPPORT APPRENTICE QUALIFICATION CIS congratulates Reece Downs on completing his Technical Support Apprentice Qualification. Reece joined the Technical Support team and has become an invaluable member of the CIS family. Reece says: “I’m incredibly proud to have completed my Level 4 Apprenticeship in Software Development. During this time, I had the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals, which gave me valuable insight into how large, data-intensive systems are developed and maintained within a commercial environment. Being part of these projects has broadened my technical perspective and strengthened my ability to approach challenges with both creativity and structure. This achievement is not only a personal milestone, but also a testament to the opportunities CIS Security provides to grow and thrive professionally. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, and I look forward to taking on new challenges as I continue developing innovative and reliable solutions for the business.”

THE NATIONAL GALLERY SAINSBURY WING GRAND OPENING Last month, CIS had the honour of attending the exclusive ‘Staff and Contractors Preview’ of the newly transformed Sainsbury Wing at The National Gallery. Widely regarded as one of the UK’s most treasured cultural institutions, the National Gallery in London welcomes over six million visitors annually. As part of its landmark 200th anniversary, the Gallery has completed a major two-year revitalisation of the Sainsbury Wing - its main entrance and a key architectural feature designed by the renowned postmodern architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown. The project included carefully considered updates to the wing’s façade, foyer, and mezzanine, all aimed at creating a more accessible and welcoming arrival experience for the public. This special occasion was made even more memorable by the presence of our Founder, Kenneth Palmer, and his wife, Jackie Palmer, reflecting on how proud we are to support this iconic national treasure. We’re incredibly grateful to the National Gallery for inviting us to share in this moment, and were thrilled for the public reopening of the Sainsbury Wing, which took place on Saturday 10th May.
On the 21st May, we were honoured to attend the ACS Pacesetters Security Officer of Distinction Awards 2025. We were proud to see two of our front-line colleagues recognised as winners along with CIS as a company. We would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated for their exceptional life saving acts and bravery in the industry we operate in. In January this year, expectant mother Odia arrived at University Hospital Lewisham in active labour and whilst in the car park, she quickly realised she wouldn’t make it to the birthing unit and called for help. Without hesitation, CIS Security Officer, Adeniyi Oloye, stepped in to assist, ensuring a safe and smooth delivery. Moments later, CIS Security Officer, Mohammed Elamine Chabat, arrived to support, keeping mother and baby stable until medical teams took over. Their quick thinking, compassion, and dedication turned an intense moment into the beautiful and safe arrival of baby Ocean. CIS Winner, Adeniyi Oloye stated: “I felt an immense sense of pride in being able to help at such a crucial moment and play a role in the delivery of baby Ocean. This was a reminder that security colleagues play a much broader role in ensuring the well-being of people, not just through protection but also by offering care and compassion when it matters most. It really is all in a day’s work for us!” It is a challenging environment responding to anti-social behaviour, criminal activity, and incidents of individuals displaying the intentions of ending their lives by entering
the River Thames. In August last year whilst on shift, Daniel Williams, Night Supervisor at London Bridge City, responded and treated an individual who had been stabbed in the chest then led negotiating with a female threatening to jump in the river whilst implementing a safeguarding plan until emergency services arrived on the scene. London Bridge City pays particular attention to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) through the Safe Strides Project and Safe Haven, Daniel has championed these projects ensuring the team are alert to the challenges and proactive in the implementation of policies and procedures. Daniel has positively impacted the lives of over twenty members of the public during critical incidents by intervening and preventing serious assaults, responding to life threatening injuries or preventing self-harm, all completed with a smile, compassion, outstanding customer service and his unwavering steadfastness. CIS Winner, Daniel Williams, Night Supervisor at London Bridge City, stated: “I’m honoured to receive this award. If you told me 3 years ago that I would be an award-winning supervisor at LBC I would have laughed at you. This award has shown me how much I have achieved in a short space of time. Anything is possible with hard work and dedication. Thank you, ACS Pacesetters, for the opportunity to share my journey in security.”
Well done Adeniyi and Daniel, keep up the good work!

NATIONAL RECEPTIONIST DAY On the 14th May, CIS gave a big shoutout to our amazing reception team, the friendly faces who welcome, support, and connect everyone who walks through our doors. Your dedication, people-first mindset, and ability to make others feel at ease are what make our spaces so special. Account Manager, Vaivika Nikandrova, says to our reception teams; “Thank you for your continued support and dedication, it has been a pleasure managing and supporting you over the past few months. Your hard work, professionalism, and daily efforts have not gone unnoticed. As we celebrate you today on your special day, please know that your contribution is valued not just today, but throughout the entire year. You are the heart of the front of house, and it’s truly appreciated.”
NATIONAL RECEPTIONIST DAY
To all receptionists who lead with empathy, grace, and professionalism (even on the tough days) – we thank you. You set the tone for safer, more connected workplaces - we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re celebrating you today!
VE DAY 2025 Honouring the Past, Protecting the Future. On the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we took a moment to reflect on the bravery and unity that helped bring peace in 1945. At CIS, we’re proud to carry forward that same spirit – protecting our communities with the same values of duty, resilience, and respect. As a company built around people, we recognise that true strength comes from not just what we do, but from who we are. To those who served then, and to those who continue to serve in every way today, we thank you.
EMERGENCY INCIDENT - CIS BREAKFAST On the 15th April, The London Borough of Hackney team were invited to a team breakfast at The Delauney, recognising their great work and unwavering commitment. There was an incident which took place in the north of the Borough, resulting in an emergency rest center being set up at the HTH. CIS were contacted at 03:00hrs and tasked to provide 10 security officers to ensure the rest center could provide vulnerable residents shelter and welfare facilities. CIS had 10 officers on site by approximately 05:00hrs which is really impressive, and a real credit to the dedication of the team. The team recieved various commendations from Hackney for all the team who helped with the rest center. The feedback received was truly amazing, assisting with unloading the emergency planning equipment, going to buy water from Tesco’s, making residents teas, coloring in with children, and generally helping in any way possible. The team as a whole really showed humanity at its best.
You should all be very proud of your contribution!
STOP THE BLEED DAY On the 22nd May, it was Stop the Bleed Day. CIS was proud to support the installation of a publicly accessible bleed control kit in Finsbury Square. The installation was a community-driven project aimed at strengthening public safety in the area. This life-saving initiative was led by John Salthouse as he coordinated efforts between key stakeholders- securing funding from LME, The Gilbert, and Alphabeta, working closely with FS Garden Bar on installation logistics, and gaining the necessary approvals from Islington Council. The Old Street District Partnership kindly agreed to take on custodian responsibilities, ensuring the kit remains accessible and well-maintained going forward. A special thank you goes to Darcy Fletcher, our CIS paramedic, who generously took time out of her busy schedule to demonstrate how to use the kit, with support from Training Manager, Steve Wicks. Their time and knowledge were invaluable in helping the local community feel more confident and prepared in the event of an emergency. Every second counts in an emergency and knowing how to control severe bleeding can be the difference between life and death. This project was a collective effort, and it’s heartening to see so many individuals and organisations come together to support a resource that could one day save a life.

STRESS AWARENESS MONTH At CIS togetherness is very important to us, so in April we celebrated Stress Awareness Month, this year’s theme was ‘Lead with love’ - a powerful call to action rooted in the principles of Unconditional Positive Regard, a concept that involves accepting and supporting a person without prejudice or judgement. Lead with Love encourages us to approach ourselves and others with kindness, compassion, and acceptance, no matter the challenges we face. Stress is normal and can affect everyone. Sometimes, it can become overwhelming, so it’s important to have the tools and strategies to help manage it effectively. This month, we invite you to participate in our weekly stress management initiatives and encourage you to share your own. Together, we can help motivate and support each other to achieve improved mental health and healthier living at home and in the work place.
WORLD DAY FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK On Tuesday 28th April, CIS celebrated World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we proudly reaffirm a vital principle: ‘Technology should protect, not replace, workers’ rights.’ At CIS, this belief is at the core of how we care for our team. Our Hourly Check Call System for Lone Worker Safety ensures that colleagues working alone or at high-risk sites are never unsupported. We maintain real-time oversight through a simple hourly check-in with our head office control room by phone, the employee portal, or the app. If a check call is missed, our system immediately flags it for urgent follow-up, making sure no officer is ever left without backup. This is technology acting as a safeguard, not a substitute for supervision, strengthening safety, protecting well-being, and respecting every worker’s right to feel secure. Today and every day, we commit to using technology to empower, not replace, our incredible teams.
CIS were proud to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week. We want to say a huge thank you to our teams, our colleagues, and wider community for showing up, speaking up, and supporting one another. We wore our green ribbons which was a small symbol of a much bigger message: that mental health matters, and that no one should face things alone. Let’s continue the conversation and work towards building a culture where checking in is second nature and support is always part of the job.
Strength in support. Power in community.
TOUR DE PATERNOSTER - CYCLE CHALLENGE Our incredible CIS Cyclones took on the challenge last Thursday at Paternoster Square Estate and cycled the full 196 nautical miles from London to Paris (on static bikes!) all in support of Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity, a charity dedicated to helping those affected by breast cancer. On the CIS team was Laura Robilliard who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and she shares her story: What inspired you to take part in the Tour De Pat cycle challenge? Being diagnosed with breast cancer on my 38th birthday in May 2024 was life-changing. It shook me to my core, but it also gave me a completely new perspective on what my body and mind are capable of. Taking part in the Tour De Pat felt like a way to take back some control — to move forward with strength and purpose after a year of surgeries, treatment, and recovery. It’s also about showing gratitude to everyone who supported me, and giving something back to the breast cancer community that helped me feel less alone during the toughest days.
What message do you hope this challenge sends to others? I hope it shows that life doesn’t stop after a diagnosis — in fact, it can give you a whole new sense of resilience. You can rebuild, you can thrive, and you can take on challenges that once felt impossible. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, or post-recovery, you are stronger than you think — and you deserve to live fully. If you could say one thing to someone currently going through a breast cancer journey, what would it be? Take it one day at a time — and be kind to yourself. There will be hard days, but there will also be days when you surprise yourself with your own strength. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and remember that this chapter will not define you — it will shape a stronger version of you. The dedication, effort, and teamwork throughout the day was truly impressive. We’re proud to stand with Future Dreams and Paternoster Square, and the incredible work they do for individuals and families navigating breast cancer. There’s still time to donate, share, and show your support. https://lnkd.in/eBeGZRJX
THE GILBERT 5K RUN
CIS was proud to take part in the 5k Run in aid for Tommy’s Charity. John Salthouse, Security Manager (MidCity Place) stated: “It was a privilege to take part in The Gilbert 5K Run for the second consecutive year, once again alongside my son. The event was held in support of Tommy’s, a remarkable charity dedicated to funding research into miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth causes that deeply impact many families across the UK.
Having both participated last year, it was a proud moment to return together and continue supporting such an important cause. Events like this not only raise vital awareness and funding, but also bring together colleagues, families, and the wider community in a shared commitment to making a difference. A sincere thank you to everyone involved, and The Gilbert Team with organising and supporting another fantastic charity.”

This year’s theme, “Resilience in Action: Thriving in a World of Change”, couldn’t be more fitting. It captures the spirit of what our colleagues do across sites, shifts, and sectors, showing up with professionalism, purpose, and care, even in the most unpredictable of times. At CIS, we’re incredibly proud of the work our teams do to support customers, communities, and each other. It’s not easy work but it’s crucial and today we’re shining a light on that effort. Thank you to our team, for your dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to your work, no matter what the day brings. We couldn’t do it without you. A special thank you to Susan Jeffers for a smooth delivery of this event!
