Saskatchewan Highway Hotline Did you know that our Highways crews work on a priority system? (Taken from Highways Hotline on Facebook) For major routes like Highways 1, 16, and 11, we aim to clear the driving lanes within six hours after the end of the storm.

These are generally highways with more than 1,500 vehicles per day. Once major routes have been cleared, our crews turn their attention to highways with between 300 and 1,500 vehicles per day. This may take up to 12 hours after the end of the storm. Routes less than 300 vehicles per day will see snow and ice cleared within 24 hours after the end of the storm. Even with these standards in places, Mother Nature can be unpredictable, as we’ve seen today with winds and blowing snow.

Claire Roy’s Eulogy Marie Claire Laliberte was born to Ralph and Marie Adele Laliberte on April 30th, 1941. When she captured the eye of George Roy in 1960, Claire claimed he quickly offered Ralph a case of wine for her hand. They were married on August 22nd, 1960. They enjoyed many happy years together until his passing on February 7th, 2000. They were blessed with 9 children but lost 2 in infancy; they adopted Darwin, raised a few grandchildren and were also foster parents. George and Claire moved to Lebret, Saskatchewan for 6 years where they enjoyed the farm life. In 1976, they moved their family back to Beauval. Claire worked at the Beauval Student Residence for a few years and then at the Beauval Forks for Leon & Emma, Joe & Clementine, Sheldon & Carol, the Goberts and the Johnsons.

Claire was a member of the Recreation Board for a few years. She used to tell us her famous line at Smokers was, “One for you, two for me!” She enjoyed the Fish Derby hosted by CIPI because she was able to cook and eat her fill of fish! She used to laugh and call herself a pelican because she loved fish so much! Her annual trek to Sandy Beach with Yvonne Roy for the CAP-C Family Camp was a highlight of her summer. She would plan and start packing early. She used to pack Everything! Her line was, ‘We might need this..

Or this will come in handy’. She loved being at Sandy Beach because she was able to spend time with friends remembering and laughing over past moments or sharing any new mishaps they had made lately. She also taught us how to cook over an open fire. Many arms were singed as we learned to make leebay, bannock, coffee and toast over sky high flames! Claire also loved cutting and drying moose meat! We could never master the art of cutting the meat or even staying in the smokehouse so we would just sit there and wait for the first batch with the margarine ready beside us! Maybe we outsmarted her by not trying very hard to learn!

A lot of our family memories have been

surrounded with eating and cooking! It was a tradition to honor all family celebrations with some sort of feast. The love of cooking led to the catering business that she enjoyed doing with her children.

Each time we finished cooking for an event, she would sit on the couch and say, “Never again! I’m selling all my cooking stuff and I’m not doing this again.” We quickly learned ‘never again’ only lasted until the next phone call…

Claire loved to laugh. She found humor everywhere! If there was a big crowd around and you wanted to find Claire, you just had to stop, listen and where there was the most laughter you were sure to find her there. And if she was with her sister, Annette, it was double the laughter. We used to say, put those two together and all you get is wet eyes and sore guts!

Even Cancer could not take away her love of laughter. When the doctor came to tell us that there was nothing more they could do for her but give her options on how to slow it down, she’s sitting there quiet and listening. When the doctor says, “Do you have any questions?” While we are still reeling from the shock, my mom looks at the doctor and says, “You think there will be lots of berries this year?” The shocked looked on the doctor’s face was priceless! But it broke the tension and gave us the laughter we so needed at that moment.

Mom has always been the one to keep our family together and she has been the strength to our spirits.

We were honored to take care of her and to show her just how much we loved her. She showed us just how strong she was by holding on to life until she felt we were able to make it on our own. She will be greatly missed by each and every one of her family members and also by the friends she made along her journey of life. Honor her memory with laughter because that is what she would want you to do. Rest easy and in peace Claire Roy

During our mom’s long battle with cancer, God would send us Angels when we felt like the weight of worry and helplessness seemed too heavy to bear.

We would like to thank those who would visit with our Mom when she was in the hospital and also at home. The visits lifted up her spirits and made her happy. A special thank you to Alice and Josephine for the Sunday rituals and to the friends they gathered, Yvonne, Alexina and Therese, for the Rosary nights. Thank you to Ann Lafleur for her Leadership and Faith.
