All Community Members We have an ongoing problem at Valley View Community School in regards to head lice. We would like to inform the public about the steps that we have taken so far to try to control it.

1. Head checks are done regularly for the students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. If your child has nits or lice, the home is then contacted by Shirley Bell -Morin 2. When there is a holiday from School or on weekends a notice is place periodically on the CIPI scroll to remind parents/guardians to do head checks.

3. Pamphlets were sent to the homes explaining step by step details on how to clean your child’s head and also the home. All bedding, combs, and furniture, all clothing, etc., have to be cleaned thoroughly otherwise your children will keep getting infected.

We do realize how much work it takes to clean lice or nits and to clean your home but in order for us to work together and control this problem we have to share the responsibility.

The 2011 Census is staffing 35,000 jobs across Canada What?

Crew Leaders: As a crew leader you will train. Lead and supervise a team of enumerators. You may also be involved in the recruitment of staff.

Enumerators: As an enumerator you will distribute questionnaires, conduct personal interviews and follow-ups by phone.

When?

Applications will be accepted as of January 2011. The work period is between March and the end of July 2011.

Where?

These non-office jobs require you to work in neighborhoods and communities in all urban, rural and remote areas in Canada.

Who?  18 years or older  A Canadian Citizen or eligible to work in Canada  Able to commit to at least 20 hours per week including days, evening, weekends and holidays as required.

Notes: - A driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required in many geographic areas.

- Candidates should be computer-literate and have access to a home computer with internet.

- Candidates must pass a written test, interview, reference check, and RCMP security clearance

On February 18th, 2011 many people will be travelling by skidoo from Beauval to Prince Albert. We do this run annually in conjunction with the Voices of the North/ Prince Albert Winter Festival. This will be our fourteenth year that we have promoted this event. Various topics that we have promoted are cancer awareness, memorials (people that we have lost to tragic death/illnesses), diabetes awareness, etc.

This year, we want to show high recognition by empowering the youth to participate. We also want to promote awareness to suicide. Many of our Northern communities have lost young people to suicide. We want to show them that we care and that it is important to keep busy by making positive choices and to reach out to someone for help.

We encourage all skidooers to join us this year. The trip is at your own expense but it is for a worthwhile cause and it is a lot of fun. We make draws for all the riders and also we have a poker rally along the trail with a 100% payout.
