News from Dream Centre Submitted by Kim Dennett My name is Kim Dennett and I began working at the Youth Centre in October. I have been quite busy with planning programs, some fund-raising, making new contacts, scheduling the YC for different age groups and getting to know the youth of all ages. I enjoy my job and love interacting with the kids. Some of the stuff I have been doing are crafts, games, movies, baking and I also welcome any new ideas you may have. I have been trying to bring people into the Youth Centre to teach the kids new skills. I would like to thank Rose Roy, Bonnie Morin, Shirley Martin, Anita Henry and Dawn Morin for volunteering their precious time at the YC. I would also like to give a big thank you to Nick Daigneault for always being there to lend a helping hand when it comes to the youth. I just asked Nick to come check out these old dinosaur computers one day then he made a phone call and voila we now have better and newer computers for the kids to use. Thank you so much. Big hugs to you guys. Deborah Laliberte and I planned meetings with the youth to see what they are interested in doing at the YC. We invited them for a pizza supper to get to know them and just to let them know we care about them. The meetings proved to be awesome. We have such thoughtful, caring and polite young people in our community. We are so blessed. I would like to thank Arlene Hansen and Northern Village for their contributions for these supper meetings. Some of the things that came up at the meetings are: the kids would like to go on trips, have dance competitions, movie nights, satellite dish to host UFC nights, pool tourneys, darts, cards, recreation hockey league, karaoke and just a place to hang out with their buddies. One interesting suggestion they made was to let youth work at the YC. They want to be able to gain experience that would look good on their resumes as well as a chance to earn a bit of spending money. Deborah and I are willing to help the youth fundraise to do these things. In the meantime we are going to be searching for grants and donations to keep the Youth Centre in style with

new games, baking supplies, and snacks. I have been offering the kids snacks and juice everyday so this is also an on-going expense. So if you have an abundance of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, juice etc, we will gladly accept donations. If you would like to donate for ticket sales on December 5th or 26th that would also be a huge help. I would also like to thank these people for their donations to the Youth Centre: Rose Roy-yarn & crochet hooks, Bonnie Morin- door prize for open house for addictions week, Mary Bottrell-plants, crafts and baked goods, Candace Campbell- plastic canvas items, Miranda Felske- Halloween decorations, Velma Roy- puzzle and board game, Mabel Morin-Christmas lights, Jazzy James-chips for our future canteen and to Joey Maurice Memorial Volleyball Committee for a cash donation. We appreciate your generosity. National Child Day Children’s Carnival
