This month we focus on someone who’s journey started all the way in Iraq. A barber, who was truly saved by his love for barbering. The sheer determination to become a successful barber drove this lad through some of the hardest and most difficult times.

KFADES is, by far, one of the most passionate barbers you will find. He has a deep love affair with the barbering trade, and there seems to be nothing stopping him from achieving his goal to become of the country’s best urban barber. He now has his own spot at one of the country’s leading urban barber brands, Smokey Barbers. We met up with CK, and discussed a few things about his past, his journey and his ambitions moving forward. CK said: “There’s a burning desire to be the best and help as many people as I can in life”. This is something that stuck with me, as you often hear people say they want to be successful. But, to hear someone say they want to help as many people as they can, is quite admirable and refreshing. “Barbering saved my life, and made sure I didn’t fall into the wrong life when I came to the UK as a young lad. My only goal, was to work hard, and build a life from nothing, I had no one to help me financially, but I understood that, I had to just graft hard and once I could afford my clippers, like would start changing quickly.” CK continues. After working in restaurants, grafting away behind the scenes in the kitchen, CK relied on his ambition to become a barber to push him through the long, hard shifts. After his first purchase of some half decent clippers, CK hit the road and started trimming anyone who would say yes to a free haircut. “I knew that if I used my spare time to offer free haircuts, it would help me better my skills and prepare me for paying customers at a barbershop. As I got better, more and more people wanted trims” CK continues. He’s doing more than he ever expected. He’s had some bumps on the way, barbershop politics as usual,

but his humbleness, determination and willingness to do it the right way, have kept him on the right track. CK is now an exclusive member of the only barber agency in the world, BarberStopUK. He has successfully built his brand in a way that perfectly reflects his good nature, and is now a proud
