NORLEY’S SPRING CLEAN Norley Women’s Institute plan to reprise this spring the successful village clean up that they ran last year. Last year the event was part of a national event to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. This year the event is just ours! The date set is Saturday 4th March, and volunteers – singly or in large or small groups - are invited to attend the Spring Clean Control Centre at the Village Hall between 10 AM and 2 PM. The WI are again providing refreshments (WI cakes alone are usually worth turning up for!) and reflective safety jackets and litter pickers and bags will be provided. The clean up will be co-ordinated from the Hall to ensure that all roads are visited just once, and that everyone returns safely! Norley WI President Helen Ebbitt
said “Norley WI is delighted to be running this event with the scouts for the second year running. It is becoming a bit of a tradition!”. Speaking for Norley Scouts, who are working alongside the WI on the event, Ann Crawford said “Last year’s clean was great, but we hope this year will be even better”. Last year’s event was certainly fun, and we picked up an astonishing range and quantity of litter from the lanes of what most would think was a tidy village. Our picture reminds us of how much we found! A key feature of the event is that you can do as much or as little as you want to/are able to. Even an hour’s work will make a big difference. And we will have a car available to pick up your full bags.
