New Medicare Prescription Drug Changes Confusing Everyone—Not Just Seniors

Watch the interview here: Paul DaCosta on Medicare

Even pharmacists, doctors, and insurance agents are scratching their heads over the latest Medicare prescription drug plan changes. While the infamous “Donut Hole” is technically gone, it’s been replaced with a $590 deductible that must be met before your plan starts covering preferred brand, non-preferred, or specialty medications.

Many seniors are now facing unexpected hardship as formularies and co-pays have shifted. What used to be $0 in 2024 might now come with that steep deductible plus a 24% co-pay on the total medication cost.

Why the change? Medicare insurance companies have adjusted their plans to offset reduced reimbursement rates from Medicare. Unfortunately, that means more people are discovering that their medications are either no longer covered or have been moved to higher-cost tiers.

Watch the interview here: Paul and Bob just health care and retirement

But here’s the good news: you do have options. If your current plan isn’t working for you—whether due to cost, coverage, or provider network—you may qualify for another plan that better fits your needs.

I’m Paul Da Costa, your local Medicare expert with 25 years of experience (and a few gray hairs to prove it).

You may have seen me on News 3 with Bob Jeswald, helping seniors across the Chattahoochee Valley navigate Medicare with confidence.

Let’s take a few minutes together to review your current plan or explore your options.

What makes a non-profit hospice like Columbus Hospice of Georgia and Alabama essential to the Chattahoochee Valley? Terri Roberts

What makes a nonprofit hospice like Columbus Hospice of Georgia and Alabama essential to the Chattahoochee Valley?

Columbus Hospice of Georgia and Alabama has been serving our community since 1979. We stand alongside patients and families during the most difficult times in their lives. As our 46th year approaches in November, we want to reflect on the critical role our organization plays in this community and how our nonprofit status, combined with the generosity of our donors, has enabled our work over the last four and a half decades.

Every dollar we receive is reinvested in excellent care and services that benefit our patients, families, and the Chattahoochee Valley. Through individual donations and fundraisers, we can continue our critical mission with the support of these funds. Denim and Diamonds, our Legacy Circle brick sale, and the numerous fundraisers we hold throughout the year help us cover the charity work we provide for patients and families who are not funded. Because we won’t turn anyone away in our community who needs hospice care, we firmly believe that everyone deserves dignity and compassion.

In Columbus and our surrounding communities, we do not limit care based on anyone’s financial or social circumstances. Our Hospice House is a testament to our commitment. It is the area’s only stand-alone hospice facility, and we provide 24/7 expert hospice care during the final stages of life.

Our community’s support makes our mission possible. Last year, Columbus Hospice provided over $1.58 million in charity care. We continue to raise funds to help cover that amount, but it rises every year. We are incredibly proud to continue our mission, and we depend on this community’s support.

I want to thank everyone who supports Columbus Hospice of Georgia and

Alabama’s mission. We ask that you continue to help us through donations, by participating in our fundraisers, and by recommending us to your friends and family when someone needs hospice care. Volunteering is a great way to share your most valuable asset—your time. We hold new volunteer orientation classes on a regular basis.

Please call us at 706-569-7992 or visit our website for more information on our valuable services.

The National Ranger Memorial: A Hidden Treasure in Columbus’ Backyard

Tucked away on the grounds of Fort Benning—just minutes from downtown Columbus—is a place of solemn beauty, deep history, and unwavering honor: the National Ranger Memorial. Since its dedication in 1992, this sacred site has stood as a tribute to the extraordinary service and sacrifice of the U.S. Army Rangers—our nation’s most elite soldiers.

For locals, the Memorial is more than a landmark—it’s a living part of our community’s story. Rooted in the red clay and pine forests of West Georgia, it stands as a reminder of the legacy forged right here. And now more than ever, the National Ranger Memorial Foundation is inviting the community to discover it, honor it, and help ensure it endures for generations to come.

A Living Tribute to the Ranger Spirit

The Memorial is a powerful sight: etched granite markers, symbolic pathways, and inscriptions that honor Rangers from World War II through today’s Global War on Terror. The names engraved along the Ranger Memorial Walk are not just soldiers—they’re fathers, sons, brothers, and neighbors. Many trained, served, and gave all right here at Fort Benning.

Visitors often describe the experience as humbling. It’s not just a walk through history—it’s a walk alongside it. You feel the weight of the sacrifices made, and as you stand before the bronze Ranger statue, you gain a deeper understanding of courage, loyalty, and brotherhood.

The site also includes the Ranger Hall of Fame, honoring those whose leadership and valor have shaped American military history. Many of these heroes—and their families—call the Columbus area home.

Columbus: A Community with Ranger Roots

Columbus has always had a close relationship with Fort Benning and the Rangers who serve there. The sound of cadence on early mornings, the sight of a tan beret in a local restaurant—these are everyday reminders of the heroes among us.

Yet many local residents still don’t know about the Ranger Memorial. Unlike the National Infantry Museum or Arlington, it doesn’t have national visibility. The National Ranger Memorial Foundation (NRMF) is working to change that—with your help.

Beyond the Stone: Supporting Rangers and Their Families

The Foundation isn’t just preserving a monument—it’s investing in lives. Since its founding, the NRMF has awarded nearly $1 million in college scholarships to Rangers, their children, and their spouses.

These scholarships do more than reduce financial burden—they send a powerful message of gratitude and continuity. In 2025 alone, the Foundation will distribute $50,000 to help the next generation of leaders pursue their goals.

Every dollar raised through donations, sponsorships, and merchandise sales goes directly into programs that serve the Ranger community.

How You Can Help

There are many ways to get involved:

Visit the Memorial – Located at Fort Benning and open to the public

Donate – Every dollar supports scholarships and preservation efforts

Sponsor – Businesses can give back through corporate sponsorships

Attend Events – Join us at the annual State of the Ranger Breakfast in Columbus

Spread the Word – Share our mission online and in the community

To learn more, donate, or get involved, visit www.rangermemorial.org.

Why It Matters

Supporting the Ranger Memorial is about more than preserving stone and bronze—it’s about preserving legacy. It’s about honoring those who fought in Normandy, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and on missions we may never know about. It’s about standing with the families who carry the weight of service every day. Columbus has always stood proudly with its military community. Now, we invite you to stand with us again—for the Rangers who live here, serve here, and protect us.

Come visit. Come honor. Come support. Together, we can ensure that the spirit of the Ranger—courage, loyalty, and selfless service—continues to inspire generations to come.

Things to know during an Insurance Claim

Claiming Confidence

I hope you never experience the stress and inconvenience of an accident— but if that day ever comes, I want you to be prepared. Below are some key guidelines to follow immediately after an incident, and later in the article, I’ll explain how to avoid damaging your insurance history with your current policy.

Immediate Steps After an Accident

Your first priority is always safety. Check for injuries and call emergency services if needed. Once everyone is safe, begin documenting the incident thoroughly:

Take clear photos of the scene, including all vehicles involved.

Collect contact information from witnesses.

Obtain a copy of the police report.

This documentation will be essential when filing your claim and protecting yourself.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

One of the biggest mistakes people make is not having a local agent who can guide them directly. If you choose to pay 1-800 rates, expect 1-800 service.

For example: let’s say you get a cracked windshield or hit an animal— something minor. Often, the repair cost is less than your deductible. But if you call the claims line and report the incident—even if you later decide not to go through with the claim—it will still appear on your loss history as a “zero paid claim.”

That means your premiums could still go up, simply because the incident was logged. The insurance company sees it as risk, even if no payout was made.

Bottom line? For non-catastrophic claims, get estimates first and talk with your local independent agent. That way, you can make a financially smart decision and avoid unnecessary premium increases for the next three years just because you had a question.

What to Do if Your Claim is Denied

If your claim gets denied—don’t panic. Work with your independent agent to understand why the denial occurred. Gather any additional evidence that could support your case and consider filing an appeal.

Real-life example: A client once called the claims line directly to report mold in their home and received an immediate denial. After speaking with me, we reframed the situation based on what could actually be proven. We clarified that the area had suspicious growth (not confirmed mold), which led to a re-evaluation. It turned out to be water damage that was covered, and the claim was paid.

Impact on Insurance Premiums

Filing a claim can affect your premiums—sometimes for years. That’s why it’s so important to talk to your agent first. We can help you understand your options before you file, so you’re not caught off guard later when your rate increases.

In Summary

By following these steps, you can make the home or auto insurance claim process less stressful, more efficient, and financially smarter. The key is being prepared, asking questions, and leaning on your local agent for advice.

I’d love the opportunity to meet with you, review your current coverage, and make sure you’re protected—and confident—when it matters most.

1.6 Million Miles of Ministry—and Counting

One of the greatest needs at The Valley Rescue Mission is transportation. Each day, we transport over 80 men and women to work, church, Columbus Technical College, medical appointments, and other essential destinations.

Our ministry vehicles have collectively logged over 1.6 million miles. Until our recent vehicle purchases, most of them were nearly worn out.

The two photos included in this mailing show our previous van—a Dodge that the ladies affectionately named Ms. Betty, which had over 234,122 miles—and one of the new vans purchased thanks to the generosity of two foundations. When one of our ladies saw the old and new vans side by side, she said, “Ms. Betty reminds me of myself when I first came to The Mission. I was broken. I was worn out from trying to do things my way. I was tired of being in and out of jail. But the new van reminds me of where I am now. I’m a new person. I have a bright future. I have so much to give back in serving the Lord.”

We hope these photos encourage you to continue praying for The Mission. Please also continue your financial support. What we do for our clients—and others in need—does come at a cost.

Your support is a vital part of their transformation. With your help, we’re guiding broken and weary people into new life through Christ, made possible by their commitment to becoming a client of The Valley Rescue Mission.

When you give to Valley Rescue Mission, you’re not just donating—you’re helping drive real, lasting change in the lives of men and women right here in our community. From transportation to meals, job training, housing, and spiritual restoration, your support fuels every mile of this ministry.

Whether it’s a one-time gift, a recurring donation, or simply sharing our mission with a friend, you are part of the transformation. Thank you for standing with us.

Every Woman”: The Unapologetic Rise of Maria Hayes and Palette8 Productions

“I’m every woman, it’s all in me.” – Chaka Khan

If you’ve ever watched confidence walk in heels or passion drip down a runway, chances are, Maria Hayes was behind the scenes cueing the lights.

This month, we broke tradition. Instead of covering someone else’s story, we asked Maria to turn the mic on herself. She did what she always does: spoke truth, walked fire, and left glitter in her wake.

Q: Maria, how did Palette8 Productions come to life?

“Started from the bottom, now we here.” – Drake

It didn’t begin with a spotlight. It started with rejection. With wanting to be seen and realizing I had to build the stage myself.

Palette8 Productions was my way of saying, “There’s room for you here. Pull up a chair—or I’ll build you one.”

We started grassroots: in living rooms, on Instagram, hustling sponsorships. But we were never small. Even when we were broke, we were brilliant. And now? We’re producing shows at New York Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and still throwing some of the most powerful fashion events right here in Columbus, Georgia.

Q: What makes your productions stand out?

“This girl is on fire…” – Alicia Keys

Because we don’t do basic.

Every Palette8 show is infused with storytelling, second chances, and soul. I’ve seen single moms, breast cancer survivors, and first-time designers walk out on our stage like they’ve been doing it forever.

We don’t just showcase fashion—we showcase freedom. Every walk is a win. Every spotlight is someone’s breakthrough.

We aren’t trying to be like everyone else. We’re trying to be the reason someone believes in themselves again.

Q: What’s been the hardest part?

“You don’t know my life, my story, my struggle…” – Mary J. Blige

People see the glam but don’t always see the grit. There were nights I was sewing last-minute pieces at 3 a.m. Mornings I cried before interviews. Days I questioned if I was even making an impact.

But then I get a DM from a model who says, “You gave me my first walk—and now I’m signed.”

That’s when I remember: this isn’t just fashion. This is faith in motion.

Q: Why does Columbus, GA still hold your heart?

“Ain’t no mountain high enough…” – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell Because no matter how far I go, Columbus keeps me grounded. This city gave me roots before it gave me wings—literally, I’ve built wings for the runway!

I bring big energy to every show, but it’s Columbus that raised my work ethic. The kind that says: Be kind. Stay late. Don’t ever let them outwork you.

I carry that with me from Broad Street to Broadway.

Q: Advice to women waiting for the “right time”?

“I’m coming out, I want the world to know…” – Diana Ross

Stop waiting.

You are not too old, too broken, too late, or too loud. You are exactly who the world needs right now.

The version of you with the stretch marks, heartbreak, and wild ideas? That’s the one we’re rooting for.

You don’t need a seat at the table. Chop down your own tree and build one yourself.

Final Thoughts?

“I’m not afraid to take a stand.” – Eminem

I didn’t come this far to play it safe.

I came to build something that doesn’t just turn heads—it changes lives.

Palette8 Productions was never about fashion alone. It’s about power, purpose, and proving to every underdog that you belong in the spotlight.

Springer Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland Is a Neon-Soaked, Nostalgia-Fueled Joyride Jhai Jameson

(Columbus, Ga.) — The Springer Theatre invites audiences to hit “Start” and tumble down the rabbit hole this summer with a bold new take on Alice in Wonderland—equal parts heart, humor, and high-score nostalgia. Opening July 17 as part of the Springer’s Children’s Series, this isn’t your grandmother’s fairytale. It’s a trippy, technicolor mixtape that honors the spirit of Lewis Carroll’s original tale while spinning it into something wildly new, weird, and wonderfully nostalgic.

More than just tea parties and croquet with the Queen of Hearts, this Alice is a full-on remix. The reimagined production is a tribute to the beloved classic—but with a twist. Inspired by the kids who grew up on arcade games, VHS tapes, and early internet chaos, this Wonderland is dripping in late ’80s and early ’90s vibes: Saturday morning cartoons, neon sneakers, and those delightfully bizarre commercials that still live rent-free in every post-Boomer brain.

At its core, the show is a tribute to the legacy of the late Ron Anderson, whose artistic vision helped shape the Springer’s Children’s Theatre. Director Ben Redding leans into Anderson’s signature style—unbridled imagination and bold creativity—crafting a Wonderland that feels less like a fantasy world and more like a dive into the subconscious of a kid raised on pop culture.

“This version of Alice in Wonderland is the brainchild of Ron Anderson, one of the great minds of theatre,” Redding said. “As a director, I want to honor that genius by bringing to life a Wonderland that’s equal parts mixtape, memory, and mayhem.”

While Alice still faces the classic question—Who am I?—this version doesn’t pretend to have easy answers. Instead, it embraces the weirdness, frustration, wonder, and transformation that come with growing up. It’s messy.

It’s magical. And it’s made for everyone.

“This show is filled with liminal magic,” Redding added. “Wonderland is less a fantasy world than a walk through a teenage subconscious. Though it’s made for young audiences, it’s also for the grown-ups who remember blowing into a game cartridge to make it work. It’s packed with surprises, vibrant design, interactive moments, and just the right amount of ‘what is even happening right now?’ energy.”

Whether you’re a curious kid or a millennial reliving childhood memories, the Springer’s Alice in Wonderland promises a joyride through identity, nostalgia, and the power of imagination. It’s a celebration of where we’ve been, where we’re going, and all the strange and beautiful stops in between—a story for those who grew up wondering and wandering, now watching their own children do the same.

Show Dates & Tickets

Alice in Wonderland opens Saturday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. and runs through Sunday, July 27 on the Dorothy McClure Theatre stage.

Forged in Courage: Preserving the Spirit of the American Ranger

Photos from facebook.com/rangerlegacyfoundation

The Ranger Creed is more than a code—it is a way of life. It binds generations of warriors through hardship, discipline, courage, and sacrifice. While Rangers famously never leave a fallen comrade behind on the battlefield, too many are left behind in life. The Ranger Legacy Foundation exists to change that.

It’s time to honor the past, serve the present, and secure the future for generations of Rangers and their families.

From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, Rangers have been the first boots on the ground, bearing the weight of America’s freedom with unmatched skill and sacrifice. Their legacy is impossible to quantify— but essential to preserve.

The Ranger Legacy Foundation was created to honor this legacy and ensure that the ethos, leadership, and brotherhood of the Ranger community continue to shape our nation far beyond the battlefield.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

The Ranger Legacy Foundation empowers current and former Rangers— and those who support them—to take collective action rooted in the Ranger ethos. Through strategic partnerships with community leaders and national stakeholders, the Foundation promotes the values of discipline, honor, and servant leadership. These principles, forged in elite combat training and lifelong brotherhood, build stronger communities and inspire more purposeful citizens.

This work is centered around the development of the Ranger Legacy Center—a national home for all Rangers, regardless of rank, generation, or background.

At WLTZ and CVL, we’re proud to highlight our newest partner and beneficiary of the 4th Annual Chattahoochee Valley Military Golf Classic—the Ranger Legacy Foundation.

Each year, this event gives us the opportunity to rally behind a cause that honors our military community in a meaningful way. This year, we’re especially excited to support an organization that embodies the very spirit of service, sacrifice, and strength that this tournament was built to celebrate The Ranger Legacy Foundation is committed to preserving the history, values, and impact of the U.S. Army Rangers—past, present, and future. Their work ensures that the ethos of the Ranger Creed continues to inspire leadership, community, and purpose far beyond the battlefield. Through the development of the Ranger Legacy Center and their ongoing outreach and education efforts, they’re creating a lasting home for the Ranger community and its stories.

We couldn’t think of a more fitting organization to stand behind as we gather for this year’s tournament. With your help, we’ll be supporting a cause that doesn’t just honor warriors—it empowers future generations through their legacy.

We hope you’ll join us on the green this October as we swing for something greater.

A Home with Purpose

The Ranger Legacy Center is envisioned as a campus where history, healing, and honor intersect. It is built on four foundational pillars:

A Sanctuary of Honor: Housing the Ranger Hall of Fame with the dignity and permanence it deserves.

A Living Archive: Preserving the stories, artifacts, and experiences of Rangers through immersive exhibits and educational programming.

A Home for the Community: A space for Rangers and their families to gather, reflect, heal, and thrive together.

A Beacon for the Nation: Educating the public and inspiring future generations with the values that define the Ranger standard.

This isn’t just a museum. It’s a mission-driven destination—welcoming all who seek to understand, honor, and embody the Ranger spirit. It offers respite, remembrance, and renewed purpose.

Why It Matters

The Ranger Legacy Foundation stands for more than memorializing the past. It is about ensuring the future. By advocating for Ranger families, educating the public, and building a place of permanence, the Foundation ensures that the legacy of courage, leadership, and selfless service continues to shape America’s strength and freedom.

In and out of uniform, Rangers embody the best of us. Through this work, their spirit lives on—not just in history books, but in the hearts and actions of those inspired by their example.

Summer Steps to Safety: Warm Weather Foot and Ankle Injuries

As temperatures rise and the days get longer, many of us are eager to shed our winter layers and spend more time outdoors. But with that increase in activity comes a spike in foot and ankle injuries that can quickly derail your summer plans. From weekend warriors on the pickleball court to folks tackling yard work in sandals, the risks are real—but preventable.

One of the most common complaints this time of year is Achilles tendinitis. After a long, sedentary winter, jumping into physical activity without gradually building up strength or stretching properly can inflame the Achilles tendon. It’s an injury I see frequently as people get excited to move again—but they’re often wearing flip-flops or minimalist shoes that offer zero support. That’s a recipe for pain and prolonged recovery.

Another rising culprit? Pickleball injuries. Yes, really. Pickleball has exploded in popularity across all age groups, but especially among middle-aged and older adults. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s deceptively demanding. The quick lateral movements and abrupt stops stress the tendons, ligaments, and joints—particularly when players don’t warm up properly or wear the wrong shoes. I’ve treated everything from minor sprains to full-on ruptures in patients who “just wanted to try it out once.”

ATV-related injuries also spike in summer. It might seem harmless to hop on for a ride through the woods, but without the right footwear or caution, it can end badly. I’ve seen patients come in with broken ankles, deep cuts, and bruises from riding in sandals—or worse, barefoot. Off-roading and open-toed shoes don’t mix, especially on unpredictable terrain.

Then there are the lawncare mishaps—the kind nobody thinks will happen until they do. Every year, thousands of people end up in the ER after mowing the lawn in flip-flops or barefoot. The injuries range from deep lacerations to partial toe amputations. It takes just one slip

Dr. Jennifer Monaco, DPM –Podiatric Specialist

or rock to turn routine yardwork into an emergency. Proper shoes are a simple way to avoid a painful—and preventable—accident.

Even bug bites deserve more attention than they get. Mosquitoes, ants, and other insects love to bite around the ankles, and for many people, that’s just an itchy nuisance. But for individuals with diabetes or compromised circulation, those bites can become entry points for infection. I’ve treated cellulitis and other serious skin infections that began with something as small as a bite that got scratched too hard or ignored too long.

I often remind patients that small warning signs shouldn’t be brushed off. If you’re noticing persistent pain, swelling, redness, or warmth around your foot or ankle, it’s your body’s way of waving a red flag. Don’t ignore it—especially if you’re on blood thinners, have diabetes, or are prone to circulation issues. I’ve seen minor injuries turn into major setbacks because someone decided to “tough it out.”

So what can you do to stay active, safe, and pain-free?

Start with supportive footwear. Sandals may feel breezy, but most offer little to no arch or ankle support. Choose closed-toe, shock-absorbing shoes when doing chores or exercising. Stretch your calves and ankles before sports or walks, especially after a long break. Build up your activity level gradually—your tendons and muscles need time to adjust.

Be smart with summer fun. Whether you’re on the court, on a trail, or in your backyard, it’s worth taking a few extra minutes to prep safely. Clean any bug bites, don’t ignore changes in skin color or swelling, and for the love of your toes—please don’t mow barefoot.

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. The earlier you treat a foot or ankle injury, the faster and easier your recovery can be.

Call us today at (762) 248-6711 or visit our office at 6053 Veterans Parkway, Suite 106, Columbus, GA. You can also learn more online at Ankle and Foot Centers – Columbus.

The Gospel Promised

We have defined the Gospel and seen that it was revealed from the very beginning of humanity’s relationship with God. But there is another essential truth: the Gospel was promised—not because of humanity’s failure, but because of God’s eternal love.

One of the most well-known verses in Scripture affirms this: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16, NKJV).

The motivation behind the Gospel is not primarily our need, but God’s love. God didn’t wait until we sinned to begin loving us. His plan of salvation was not a reactive measure—it was a purposeful promise made out of the abundance of His goodness and mercy.

The apostle Paul affirms this in Romans: “But God demonstrates His own

love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, NKJV).

The Gospel is grounded in God’s kindness. It does not ask for a down payment. It is not a contract of “services rendered.” God saves us because He wants to. He saves because He chose to.

J.C. Ryle once wrote, “The only thing we contribute to our salvation is the sin that made it necessary.” That insight is a powerful reminder that the Gospel is not about us meeting God halfway. It is about God coming all the way to us.

The promise of salvation came before any effort on our part, so that we could not boast in our works but only in His grace.

Dios no esperó a

Guidance with Grace: Over a Decade of Helping Families Navigate Senior Care in Columbus

If you’ve worked in the senior care world in Columbus, you’ve likely crossed paths with Raven Fairbanks. For more than a decade, she’s been a familiar and trusted face—helping families, caregivers, and professionals find the right path when it comes to aging and care. She has now set out on a mission with the newly launched Golden Compass Senior Advisors.

But this isn’t just a business for her. It’s personal. It always has been.

“Over the years, I’ve helped families from every walk of life. Some searching for luxury retirement options that bring joy and vitality, others with nowhere to go and no one to help. When I couldn’t fix it myself, I made sure they knew where to turn and what questions to ask— especially the ones they didn’t even know they should be asking.”

Raven founded Golden Compass Senior Advisors with one simple mission: to be the calm in the storm for families navigating senior living. She helps match people with the right independent living, assisted living, personal care home, or memory care community.

Through separate ventures, partnerships, and business relationships, she also helps those that want to stay in their home, but need a little help or they need to know the resources that are available in our area. Her guidance is at no cost to the them or their family.

More Than a Referral—It’s a Relationship Golden Compass doesn’t just suggest options.

They walk the journey with you.

They listen to your desires, your needs, and your fears; then when YOU are ready - they connect you only to the places and resources that make sense for your situation. That is what sets them apart from national referral companies you may find online. Have you ever searched for a service online and then suddenly a hundred different businesses are calling to sell you something when all you wanted was a quick answer to a simple question? This doesn’t happen with Golden Compass. You will know the exact person set to call you, what to expect, and you will have an idea of how costs and logistics work for the places you are interested in. Golden Compass will take the hard part out of the process before you ever even leave the comfort of your home.

Where care is involved, so are emotions.

“I’ve held the hands of newly widowed brides that didn’t know where to start and I’ve celebrated with couples moving into the next chapter of life together. I’ve cried with siblings who were at odds with one another after one parent passed away, so they were conflicted about how to move forward with helping the other, and I have seen firsthand how the right move at the right

time can bring peace, safety, and even joy.”

Raven Fairbanks

Just when Raven thought she knew it all—life flipped the script.

“I became the one sitting on the other side of the table. I was no longer the advisor—I was the family member, the one desperate for clarity. And in that moment, I realized: Even with all my experience, I only knew half the story.”

That reshaped everything and gave her a perspective that not every senior advisor has. It also gave her the ability to dig deeper, ask more questions, and find the best fit.

Don’t Wait Until You’re Forced To Decide

“The biggest thing I tell everyone now is this: Start the conversation early. Don’t wait until it’s an emergency. To those considering community style living because you’re seeing a change in your needs, my best advice is, Don’t wait until you’ve lost the ability to choose. One fall when you’re alone can change everything.”

At Golden Compass Senior Advisors, there’s no pressure, no sales pitch—just honest guidance, local insight, and a genuine desire to help people age with dignity and support when they need care.

They are also here to help those that still feel like they are in their prime! Those that know age is just a number and a state of mind. The ones that want to have fun and they know they can do that while living independently with other like minded seniors that love the finer things also and not having to do the dishes!

Whether you’re ready for a luxurious next chapter, want to find more purpose filled days with others, or you are facing difficult changes, Raven along with the army of Professionals Serving Older Adults that are right beside her, will help you find the right fit for your need—with care, compassion, and confidence.
