Scarth Hill Overflow Car Park indicating vehicular route

Edge Hill withdraws application for campus car park A RETROSPECTIVE planning application for a 500space car park on Edge Hill University’s campus was withdrawn ahead of a planning committee meeting last week. Recent concerns about university-related car parking in Ormskirk, which has been described as ‘extensive and often dangerous and illegal’, has led the leader of West Lancs councll to call for a task force to tackle the issue. In withdrawing the car park application, the university says it has decided to work together with local authorities towards a lasting solution to the problem instead. The planning application to West Lancs council was for permission to create a

500-space overflow car park on land adjacent to Scarth Hill Lane. The university already uses the site for ‘peak period temporary overflow parking’ having been given permission by the council in July 2017 which residents say limited its use to 28 days per year - and Edge Hill has already resurfaced an access road and path leading to the site, so the application is retrospective The plans were opposed by local residents who say the car park ruins Green Belt land. The Director of Regeneration and Development John Harrison also recommended that the plans be rejected, citing harm to Green Belt.

FARMAGGEDON ACTOR SACKED AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT CLAIMS Report by Kenny Parker

A PERFORMER at the Farmaggedon attraction in Downholland was sacked after claims he inappropriately touched two teenage girls. Police confirmed an investigation is underway following the allegations at the popular scare site described as the ‘UK ’s favourite night of screams and extreme terror’ which boasts, among other ‘thrills’, actors dressed as zombies, ghouls and clowns, and an area called ‘Freak Street’. The operators of the Halloween-themed event, which is based on Flatman’s Lane, Downholland, have apologised to the families of the alleged victims and said that the accused staff member was dismissed immediately.

Performer at scare attraction is alleged to have ‘inappropriately touched’ teenage girls

The incidents are believed to happened on two separate occasions, the first on October 12 and the second on October 18. A statement from Ormskirk and Burscough Police said: “We are currently investigating two allegations of sexual touching which were reported to have occurred at an event in Ormskirk. “We were contacted Saturday October 19 to reports a teenage girl was touched inappropriately by a man on October 12 at the

Farmaggedon event. A second report was made of a teenage girl being touched inappropriately on October 18 at the same event. “We are aware of rumours circulating on social media about these incidents but our enquiries are very much underway to establish what happened, and in the meantime we would ask people not to speculate while the full facts are still being established.” A statement posted by Farmaggedon on social media said: “On Friday evening (October 18) it was reported to us that one of the actors performing in our Farmaggedon Halloween attraction had behaved inappropriately towards two of our female guests.
