Supporting More pharmacies in borough are now offering vaccinations THREE more pharmacy-led vaccination sites have opened in Sefton to help the ongoing battle against Covid-19. Linacre Methodist Mission, on Linacre Road, in Litherland, St Faith’s Church, on Crosby Road North and Superdrug, on Eastbank Street, in Southport, are now offering the Covid-19 jab. People aged 38 and over, health and care workers, unpaid carers and those with underlying health conditions are invited to book their vaccine. The venues were three of seven new locations opened last week in the north west. Regional director of commissioning (North West) Dr Linda Charles-Ozuzu, said: “I am delighted to see these additional pharmacy teams, joining us in the fight to beat Covid-19 and it’s great news for the people in those communities, who will be able to access vaccine services closer to where they live. “We are now asking people aged 38 – 39 to come forward to receive their vaccine, in addition to anyone from the previous groups that were invited and have received the offer but may not yet have booked. “We all want to get back to some form of normality and we have already taken massive strides to get there in the North West, so if you are eligible for the vaccine, please do your bit to protect yourself and your loved ones.” People who have received a letter or text inviting them to book their vaccine can log on to the national booking service at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccinationand choose from a range of vaccination services across the North West. Anyone unable to book online can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.

Restaurants and bars across south Sefton are now able to reopen inside as lockdown rules were relaxed by the government on Monday, May 17. Also up and running are art galleries, theatres, sports centres, cinemas and soft play centres, with people now allowed to meet inside and stay overnight in groups of six, or two households. Andrew Peters, who co-owns So Salsa, Rock Salt and The Tree House, all in Crosby, was delighted to welcome back some familiar faces to his restaurants. He told the Champion: “Covid has impacted everybody and hospitality has been hit hard. “We are very lucky to have an amazing customer base, who have supported us every time we have adapted and changed the concept of our restaurants. “The last five months felt like a year, but we are carrying on with a positive mind-set hoping that the next time we will close our doors will be Christmas, for the right reasons this time.” There were similar feelings of relief from staff at

Pioneer Bar and Brasserie, also in Crosby. Michele Parry said: “It’s a relief to be open after being closed for over 150 days in 2020 and 135 days in 2021. Plus the endless restrictions during the limited time we were allowed to open. “Our local customers have supported us amazingly since reopening on April 12, whilst enduring the elements of the British weather sitting outside! “The future is looking brighter now for hospitality Continued inside
