A WOMAN has died after a bungalow fire in Maghull. Firefighters were called to the blaze on Towers Avenue, Maghull, shortly before 5.30am on Monday, January 31, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said. When fire crews arrived they found smoke coming out of the building. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the bungalow and began fighting the fire with hose reel jets while searching for occupants. As firefighters searched the bungalow they discovered the woman, unconscious and not breathing. Firefighters immediately provided emergency first aid, but despite their best efforts were unable to save the woman and she was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Police were also in attendance at the incident. “A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is taking place between Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and Merseyside Police.” Her next of kin have been informed.

REVISED COASTAL PATH PLANS PUT FORWARD Council says it will provide alternative route to the Promenade which is often blocked by windblown sand Report by Tom Martin PLANS to create a new coastal path from Waterloo to Crosby have edged closer after Sefton Council submitted a planning application. The path, across ‘Crosby Coastal Park’, will start near the Lakeside Adventure Centre and end just past the leisure centre. The council say it will improve walking and cycling access, as well as boost climate change objectives.
