INSIDE THIS WEEK: Man admits trying to murder his wife A MAN from Southport has admitted attempting to murder his wife. At an earlier hearing Leslie Marshall had denied the offence and had been due to stand trial in November but on Thursday, September 30 he changed his plea to guilty. Amanda Marshall was found with stab wounds to her neck and chest at the couple’s home in Virginia Street on June 25 after police were called to the property. The 48-year-old victim was taken to hospital where she was initially in a critical condition. Marshall, 50, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court and was further remanded in custody by the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Andrew Menary, QC to await sentence on October 29. The case was adjourned to enable a psychiatric report to be finished and a pre-sentence report prepared to consider if the defendant poses a danger.

£1.5m plan to transform Crown Buildings into high-tech start-up hub

The proposal involves turning the Crown Buildings and vacant retail units on Eastbank Street into a high tech, collaborative and affordable workspace for small businesses, known as the ‘Enterprise Arcade.’ Sefton Council’s cabinet will meet tomorrow (Thursday, October 7) when they are expected to formally approve the proposal, with funding coming from Southport’s Town Deal programme. The council hopes the 15,000 sq ft hub will help ‘target previously untapped digital, creative and technological sectors within the resort.’ It will aim to help indi-

On Eastbank Street, the building houses one of the entrances to Cambridge Walks, next to the Entertainer toy shop. Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and skills, said: “This is a key project for the regeneration and economic diversification of Southport’s economy. “The Enterprise Arcade will incorporate Crown Buildings, vacant retail units on the ground floor of Eastbank Street and adjoining office space above. “Nationally we are seeing a move away from traditional working environments and more and more people are embracing flexible and hybrid work opportunities. “Our Enterprise Arcade will be the idea Continued inside
