SEFTON Council chiefs have penned a damning letter to Highways England demanding better maintenance of the A5036 after describing it as “completely unacceptable.” The correspondence, signed by Sefton Council Leader Ian Maher and chief executive Margaret Carney, claims that overgrown grass verges, excessive weeds and damaged pavement on the busy road is causing a “detrimental effect on the health and well-being of residents.” Highways England look after the A5036, which runs from Switch Island and all the way to the Port of Liverpool and includes Dunningsbridge Road, Church Road and Princess Way. the dock, but instead they decided on the option of building a new road through Rimrose Valley Country Park. Sefton Council now want them to improve maintenance of the A5036, which was penned in a letter in September and has now been sent to Labour Party members in the Bootle area. The letter states: “We are extremely proud of Sefton, our residents, businesses and visitors and A5036 is one of the key corridors into the borough
