INSIDE THIS WEEK: Light up a Life services dates announced WOODLANDS Hospice staff have announced the dates for their annual Light up a Life Christmas services. The Light up a Life service provides an opportunity for families to remember loves ones who have passed away while also raising money for the hospice as people pay to dedicate a light in their memory. An official Christmas lights switchon event will be held alongside this year’s Light up a Life service at the hospice’s premises on the grounds of Aintree University Hospital at 4pm on Sunday, December 1. As previously, there will also be a tree and service held at St Andrew’s Church, Damfield Lane, Maghull, at 7pm on Monday, December 2. This year there will also be a tree and service at St Michael’s Church on St Michael’s Road in Blundellsands at 4pm on Sunday, December 8. It is requested that those planning on attending a service let the hospice know. Places are limited at the St Andrew’s and St Michael’s events so free entrance tickets will be issued for health and safety and catering purposes. If you would like to dedicate a light or lights, you can do so by visiting woodlandshospice.org/lual or you can call Carole Riley on 0151 529 4143 to dedicate a light over the phone and pay by card. To guarantee name or names appearing in the hospice’s Book of Life in time to be viewed at the services, you must ensure your dedication has been received by Monday, November 25.

The proposals include resurfacing the car park and redesigning the layout to create 20 new spaces as well as planting new trees. The proposals have been welcomed by Maghull Town Council who say it fulfills a pledge made by London and Cambridge three years ago and reiterated last year. The facility has been criticised by shoppers for its poor condition with compaints about potholes and unclear marking lines. The planning application submitted to Sefton Council by Central Square owners London and Cambridge Properties is for the reconfiguration of parking spaces to increase the number from 76 to 96. Landscaping plans include installing new lamp posts and litter bins, and relocating a post box, benches and parking meters. The car park will also be resurfaced with new lines painted and five trees planted. The planning statement submitted with the application says that the changes will bring
