INSIDE THIS WEEK: Motorbike rider suffers serious injuries in road collision POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a collision involving a motorbike in Lydiate. The motorbike was in collision with a Toyota Aygo at around 4.50pm on Tuesday, October 2, on Sandy Lane, near to its junction with Moss Lane. Emergency services attended and the rider of the bike, a man in his 50s, suffered serious chest and leg injuries. His condition is described as ‘critical.’ The driver of the car, a woman in her 80’s, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Witness, CCTV and house-tohouse enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to come forward. Roads Policing Sergeant, Phil Mitchell said: “We are keen to hear from any witnesses to this incident or anyone who saw either vehicle in the area shortly before or after the incident yesterday. “The rider has sustained critical injuries and we welcome any information, including home CCTV or dashcam footage, which may assist.” Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 18200207919, or the Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5747.
