TRIBUTES ARE PAID TO MUCH LOVED CYCLIST KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT Report by Kenny Parker TRIBUTES have been paid to a keen cyclist from Melling who died following a road accident. Mother of two Alison Doyle, 47, was out cycling when she was involved in a collision with a Ford Ka on Bold Lane near Aughton in the early afternoon of Sunday, August 19. Crews from North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Air Ambulance, all attended the incident which happened at around 1pm but she was pronounced dead at the scene. A family tribute said: “Alison was a much loved mother with two sons, a loving sister and daughter. “Taken from us too soon, words cannot describe our loss, she will be in our hearts forever.” A registered nurse she had worked in various health care education roles was a Melling parish councillor, having been brought up in the village An official statement posted online by Melling Parish Council says: “Councillor Doyle will be greatly missed by all who knew her and Melling Parish Council send their deepest sympathy to Cllr Doyle’s sons, father and wider family. You are all in our thoughts.” Alison was a popular member of the Sefton Velo cycling club which is based in Maghull, where she was described as having an “infectious personality ” full of “joy and laughter.”

Following news of her death tributes were made on social media. A statement from the club said on Monday that they would hold a gathering tomorrow Thursday, August 23 for club members and friends. A club statement read: “We will always remember her infectious and positive personality and the joy, laughter and grit and determination she showed. “Our thoughts at this time are with Alison’s family and friends.” One club member described her as a “lovely lady, a great member of the club.” Lancashire Police are appealing for information on the incident. Sergeant Marc Glass, of Lancashire Constabulary ’s Road Police Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident, my thoughts and those of my investigation team are with the family at this sad time..” If anyone has any information relating to this incident contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting Log ref 727 – August 19 2018.
