Woman seriously injured in four-car collision A WOMAN suffered serious injuries in a road accident involving four cars in Maghull on Monday (May 21). The cars were involved in a collision on Northway near to the junction with Dover Road, close to the Alt Park pub heading towards Switch Island shortly before 5.30pm. A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said one female was taken to Aintree Hospital with ‘major trauma injuries.’ Three people were treated at the roadside for minor injuries. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service crews attended the scene and made the vehicles safe. All the drivers exchanged details, a spokesperson said, and all vehicles were removed by 7pm.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL TEAM MAY FOLD AFTER SCHOOL BOOTS THEM OFF PITCH Players and officials devastated after shock decision by head teacher Report by Kenny Parker A JUNIOR football club in Lydiate may have to fold after 40 years of serving the community after a school said it could no longer use its playing field. St Thomas Lydiate Leopards Junior Football Club have been told by St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School that it will not renew a contract allowing it to use the playing fields. They said it was because there had been complaints from the community about state of footpaths after matches and parking issues. But the team’s assistant coach Bob Doherty says that a brief letter from headteacher Mrs D Albon, informing the club of the decision came as a shock and they themselves had previously worked to deal with the complaints.
