Gym for people with additional needs opens Pop-up memory café event on way for people with dementia A POP-UP memory café for people living with dementia is being organised by Alzheimer’s Society at Maghull Library, Hall Lane, on Monday, March 19 from noon to 2pm. The café will provide an ideal setting for those living with dementia and their carers to socialise and get much needed face to face support. It will also give anyone worried about their memory the opportunity to talk to Alzheimer’s Society staff and pick up useful information. Val Metcalf, service manager for Alzheimer's Society in Sefton said: “Our memory cafés can really help improve people’s quality of life. “They give families and carers as well as the person living with dementia the opportunity to socialise with others in similar situations and receive vital support. “They’re also a great source of information and guidance which can help people to live well with the condition. “If you have questions about memory loss or dementia, please do come along to Maghull Library, have a cuppa and speak to one of our dementia support workers. You will be made very welcome.” Val added: “There are around 4,600 people living with dementia in Sefton. “With the right support people can live well and have an active life for many years. Don’t try to struggle with dementia alone, there is so much support available to you in our area.” For more details on the event email southport@alzheimers.org.uk or call the local office on 01704 539967.
