The popular shop worker and railway enthusiast from Skelmersdale was found dead in a wooded area off Parbold Hill on Wednesday, May 1. Now the 18-year-old’s friend, Leon Kamel, has posted details of the funeral on Facebook. He wrote: “Just wanted to thank all of you for the continued support and intentions for Alex and the family and post this on behalf of Alex’s mum Bev, his brother Adam and the family. Alex Davies “The support and kind wishes from everyone truly means so much to us. Time is a healer, but somehow it seems to be getting harder as the days go on. But I thought I’d just like to share arrangements which have been made regarding Alex’s funeral. “Alex’s funeral will take place at Christ Church in Newburgh on Friday, June 7. This will be followed by a service at West Lancashire Crematorium which is for Alex’s close family members and friends. “Afterwards, we hope you could attend The Miners Peg restaurant to fondly remember Alex. Refreshments will be available and we hope it’ll be a time to reflect on Alex’s remarkable life and share memories old and new and all the good times spent with him. “Times for the service will follow shortly. “No flowers please, but if desired, donations will be greatly appreciated towards any of the following: Crohns and Colitis UK; Alder Hey Children’s Hospital; and the British Heart Foundation, on request of the family. “I just want to thank you once again, for all the support that you have shown me and Alex’s family. Together, we have the strength to move mountains and I’m sure Alex is proud of every single one of us for what we have done and achieved together in his name. “I still can’t comprehend my life without my best friend, but I will always have such fond memories and can reflect on the good times which I will cherish forever.” A 17-year-old from Chorley, charged with Alex’s murder, was remanded in custody at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday, May 8 and is due to enter a plea at the same court on Monday, July 15. A provisional trial date has been set for Thursday, October 24.

POLICE ENFORCE SECTION 60 ORDER AFTER KNIFE INCIDENT
Teen pair suspected targeted victims of gang-related attack Report by Henry James
POLICE put a Section 60 stop and search order in place in Skelmersdale after a knife incident in Irwell in which two teenagers were the victims of what is believed to have been a targeted attack on Sunday night. The order, which gives officers the powers to search people or vehicles without suspicion in an area where they believe violence could take place, was in force from 5pm on Monday, May 27 until 5am on Tuesday, May 28 covering the Birch Green, Elmers Green, Digmoor and central areas of the town. It followed the incident - thought to be gang-related - in which a 17-year-old suffered numerous stab wounds, while an 18-year-old received what were described as minor injuries. Officers though sought to reassure the public. A police spokesman posted on social media: “We hope that this action does not overly concern you; it’s not about targeting people, it is about making sure we do all we can to keep you and where you live safe, whilst offering you reassurance and maintaining a presence in the area. “We think that Sunday’s attack was targeted and in relation to a dispute between two groups who are known to each other. “We are working on finding who was responsible. We do not believe there is a threat to the wider public and would advise you to carry on with your plans as normal. “The 17-year-old boy suffered a number of stab wounds, however, he is in a stable condition and receiving treatment in hospital. His injuries aren’t thought to be life threatening. “The 18-year-old man received minor injuries. “If you know anything that you think may help our invest-

Officers found two knives and a Taser that was disguised as a torch. Both of the occupants were arrested and taken into custody.
