them safely to shore and they also helped police officers to find a lost eight year old boy on Formby Beach. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police added: “A huge thank you to the group from Manchester for assisting us with finding a missing eight year old boy at Formby Beach. “Not only did they find him but they had him laughing and smiling when we arrived! Should this happen and you cannot locate your child call 999.” A spokesman for the coastguard service said: “It was a busy day for the team on the coast today (Monday) with a record number of jobs! “Whilst cleaning down after completing one job, the tasking and alerting system sounded off again to search for a missing child on Formby Beach. The team made their way to Formby, the child was successfully found and the team made their way back to the station to continue with the clean-down. “The last team member finally left the station at 8pm to finally finish off the lunch that was left seven hours earlier. Not a bad days work for volunteers! “Please check the tide times and be aware that it can come in behind you if you’re on a sandbank before venturing out on the coast, follow the signs warning of soft mud and most of all, know where your children are.” Cont. inside
