A JUNIOR football club have taken over a neglected playing field in Crosby in the hope of giving it a new lease of life. Crosby Stuart FC have an agreement in place with Sefton Council to look after Brook Vale Playing Fields and they want to create a “great and wellmaintained facility” for both themselves and the wider community. As well as improve the football pitches, they also want to replace the rundown changing rooms. The new facility will also contain a cafe to be open on weekends and a community hall for other groups and activities. Crosby Stuart FC used to play matches at Brook Vale until they were asked to vacate in 2017 and move to pitches in Kew, so this will be a welcome return for the club. They have more than 300 players, both boys and girls, who play a wide range of different age groups from Under 6s to Under 17s. The club’s general manager Frankie Meadows,

“Our recent work has been done on a shoestring and volunteers from the teams giving us time and effort on ground preparation. “Our plans are to provide a great and well maintained facility for Crosby Stuart FC, for the players to play and train on. Continued inside
