A CARE home in Crosby which has an aging ambulance has been donated a modern replacement worth £45,000! The RMBI-run Tithebarn home, on Moor Lane, was given the specialist vehicle by Tony Harrison, the most senior Freemason in the West Lancashire district, on behalf of The Friends of Tithebarn. The ambulance is fitted with comfortable seating for five passengers, with facilities for two further wheelchair bound residents with easy access by an electronic lift. The vehicle has both heating and air conditioning and a full audio system enabling the residents to listen to either the radio or music of their choice. The new vehicle will be in constant use taking residents to hospital appointments, dental visits and their regular outings throughout Merseyside and the North West along with two other vehicles also bought by The Friends of Tithebarn. The Friends of Tithebarn, formed in 1978, is made up of Freemasons, who encourage Masonic Lodges to donate money and hold charity events. They have raised funds for many projects including a ceiling lifting system, garden furniture, a summer house, computer systems, curtains and £50,000 to assist in the extension of the lounge area.

SCRAMBLER BIKE YOB ATTACKED VOLUNTEER AT FAMILY FUN DAY
Thugs kicked and punched teenage girl who was giving pony rides to children then threatened other people causing event to close early Report by Tom Martin
SCRAMBLER bike yobs caused chaos at a family fun day in Seaforth, assaulting a teenage volunteer and threatening people - forcing the event to close early. The annual event was in full swing at Bowersdale Park on Saturday, August 3 when four youths on two scrambler bikes arrived at around 2pm and drove into the park where hundreds of people had gathered. An 18-year-old volunteer, who was helping children have pony rides, was punched and kicked to the ground by one of the yobs. Organisers from Friends of Bowersdale Park decided to close the event early as a precaution. A spokesperson for Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary, who had organised the pony rides for children, said: “A teenage girl was holding a child on our pony Holly at the wonderful family event when she was attacked. “He beat our girl with his fists and kicked her. She was brave and did everything she could to protect the child and the pony. People advanced to protect her and he rode off.”
