Residents set to be turfed out of tower block NEARLY 100 people will be turfed out of their home at a Bootle tower block and moved elsewhere after the owners decided it was no longer “viable.” Irlam House, on Church Walk, is owned by One Vision Housing (OVH) who claim a ‘viability assessment’ suggests there is not enough current and future demand for this type of accommodation in the Sefton area. Despite this claim, there are 90 people who currently live in the flat, and they will now be helped by OVH to find a new home elsewhere. The fate of the building and if it will be demolished is unknown as this stage. A spokesperson for One Vision Housing said: “All tenants have been informed and we have been working with them to find properties based on their needs and preferences and supporting them with the move. “There is no fixed timescale for this process and we have been working with tenants in a time frame which suits all parties involved.” In 2016, OVH demolished two tower blocks in Seaforth, Montgomery House and Churchill House, and there are plans to build houses on the site. A spokesperson for OVH said: “One Vision Housing carried out a viability assessment on Irlam House, which included an assessment of current and future demand and the availability of similar properties in the area. “This indicated a potential over supply of this type of accommodation and as a result a decision was made to decant the block. “We are reviewing all the options available with regards to the future of the building, and we continue to support our tenants to find alternative properties based on their needs and preferences.”

BELOVED PET DOG DIES AFTER HORROR ATTACK ON BEACH
INSIDE THIS WEEK...
Owner devastated after her gentle dachshund was viciously set upon while out on a walk Report by Tom Martin
POLICE have questioned a man after a beloved pet dog died after it was brutally attacked by three other dogs on Crosby beach. Jeffrey, a miniature wire haired dachshund, suffered horrific injuries when he was attacked by three dogs and his devastated owner, Carol Hartnell, revealed he passed away on Friday, June 29 – three days after the attack. Carol, from North Wales, said Jeffrey suffered two broken ribs, a broken fibula, a pulmonary contusion, as well as serious wounds to his neck and abdomen after he was set upon by two lurchers and a Shar Pei. Despite the awful injuries, Carol had hoped Jeffrey would pull through and she started a fundraising page to help pay for vet bills, which generated more than £10,000 after her story spread across social media. But sadly Jeffrey didn't make it, and any money left over from the fundraising page being given to charity. Carol posted on Facebook after Jeffrey died: “It’s with a heavy heart I have to report, he didn’t make it. Jeffrey has gone. “It was all too much for him. I am utterly devastated, heartbroken, lost, empty, just numb. “Sleep tight my gorgeous hairy worm. You saved me.” Carol had been walking along Crosby beach at around 9pm on Tuesday, June 26 with her partner and other dog, Charlie, when the attack happened.
