Cafe offers support to homeless people FORMER Liverpool FC stalwart Jamie Carragher has backed a new cafe which offers training and employment to the homeless. The Back Kitchen Cafe, which opened in Liverpool city centre on Monday, offers unique support to people living on the street by giving them an opportunity to enrol on a ten-week course. CUSTOMERS FEAR THEY COULD LOSE TREASURED ITEMS AFTER COLLAPSE OF PAWNBROKER Report by Tom Martin CUSTOMERS at a collapsed pawnbroker fear they could be left out of pocket and lose their treasured items for good. Albemarle and Bond, on Stanley Road, unexpectedly closed its doors on Friday, September 13 along with 115 other stores located across the UK. The company enabled people to offer something valuable as security for a loan, but following the sudden closure, residents who are customers of the failed pawnbroker fear they could lose sentimental items already accepted by Albemarle and Bond. Others claim they have been left in the dark due to a ‘lack of communication’

from the firm with calls to their customer service line going unanswered. One angry Bootle customer posted on social media that she had pawned a £2,000 engagement ring at the firm’s Stanley Road store but claimed a helpline number didn’t work and her emails had

gone unanswered. This was despite parent company, Speedloan Finance, claiming any items pawned in Albemarle and Bond stores have been transferred to a central store and customers could contact its helpline for more information on their property. Continued inside
