SMASHING WINDOWS IS JUST NOT CRICKET FOR ANGRY RESIDENTS

INSIDE THIS WEEK...

They demand club install netting to protect homes and cars being damaged by big hitting batsmen

Bricklayers academy launched

Report by Tom Martin

ANGRY residents who live next to Firwood Bootle Cricket Club say their houses and cars are being damaged when batsmen hit sixes out of the ground. They are demanding the club put up bigger protective nets to stop balls hitting their properties on Wadham Road. Netting is currently in place around a section of the ground but residents say they are inadequate and offer little protection. Residents have signed a joint letter of protest and fear someone could be seriously injured unless something is done soon. Officials at the club have responded to the complaints by telling the Champion they are looking to apply for Cracked glass at the front of house on Wadham Road, next to Firwood Bootle Cricket Club’s ground, inset. funding in order to extend the nets.
