CHILDCARE SERVICE AXED AFTER FUNDS ARE SLASHED Cambridge nursery school and children’s centre
Safeguard your central heating this winter with our boiler & heating protection plans
PARENTS have been left ‘gutted’ after it was revealed a popular childcare service run from a Bootle children’s centre will close. The service, which is held at Cambridge nursery school and children’s centre, will come to an end on April 5 due to a decision to scrap a government fund called SureStart. The children's centre itself will remain open, but it means that some childcare staff

EVERTON in the Community is set to receive the Freedom of the City of Liverpool for 30 years of pioneering charity work. Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, has nominated the charity in recognition of its achievements in helping the communities across Merseyside, notably in north Liverpool. The city’s highest civic honour is expected to be formally agreed today (Wednesday, January 24) with the Freedom ceremony itself taking place later this year. Everton in the Community celebrates its 30th anniversary in February, and has spent three decades tackling key social issues and help some of the most vulnerable in the Merseyside region. In 2017 alone, over 100 young people have graduated from the charity’s Apprenticeship programme. Some of the charity's many other

achievements include opening a Free School for troubled youngsters and raising £244,000 to build a shelter for young homeless people in north Liverpool. Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Everton in the Community Executive Chair, added: “For our charity to receive the Freedom of the City of Liverpool is the most wonderful accolade and it is testament to the hard work of all of our staff and volunteers. “For almost 30 years we have been committed to helping those most in need across our city.”
