Animal Aid group’s home for abandoned animals faces closure after building is put up for sale

PLANS to build a new £45million police headquarters in Everton have taken a step closer after a planning application was given a green light by Liverpool City Council. At a Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday, April 3, a proposal to construct a new HQ for Merseyside Police was approved by the local authority, paving the way for work to begin at the Scotland Road site. The building will be four-storeys and big enough to house 850 officers, with hopes it can be opened in May 2020. The new headquarters will replace the current home of Merseyside Police, in the city centre's Canning Street. Continued inside

A CAT rescue charity based in Walton faces an uncertain future over concerns it could be kicked out of its home. Volunteers from Animal Aid Charity, on County Road, were shocked to find out the owners of the building from where they operate, had put it up for sale, meaning they now face the prospect of being turfed out if they don't take it over themselves. They have launched a fundraiser in the hope of finding £20,000 to help purchase the premises and become the owners of the building. Animal Aid Charity say their mission is to provide all cats in Liverpool that have been abandoned or abused with a ‘warm and loving home’ through a cattery and or re-homing process. The creator of the online fundraiser, Paula Towner, said: “Animal Aid Charity is a safe and secure place where so many cats and kittens are

Report by Tom Martin welcomed with compassion, love and care. “Many are homeless, abandoned or abused but we offer them security, comfort and warmth, good food and the chance of finding new loving homes. “We currently rent our building but unknown to us our premises was put up for auction. “They will lose their home, their security that we offer to so many cats and kittens if we allow this to happen. We are now having to purchase the whole building so we can keep our safe place we cherish so much. “Hundreds of needy cats and kittens come through our doors every year and we have to do

everything we can to protect that. “We are now placed in a very difficult position and we are desperate to raise funds to help us buy our safe place so we can continue to keep on saving lives of homeless, abandoned or abused feline friends. “Please help us to help them by joining us in our campaign to raise funds to keep fighting for our furry friends in need. Every £1 makes a massive difference.” l To donate to the cause, visit the website: www.gofundme.com/8sncs-save-our-home
